  1. Well it shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as your making out. On even the roughest roads round here it is still really smooth compared to most performance orientated cars. What tyres are you running? Bridgestone Potenza P050A on 18" rims
  2. Well, if a car with "reasonable spring rates and coilovers" rode any rougher than mine, I'd run a mile from it. Better check it out and remove any potential offending items.
  3. I have to agree with others that speed limits are there for a reason. You might argue that some are too low ie. 60mph on an A-road with articulated lorries being limited to 40mph on the same road. But it also raises the question of why we all bought a 300 hp gas guzzling car? The wife's KA can do all the Zed can and more (within the law). Maybe it is just the look of the Zed or the sound of it when we start it up or maybe most of you do track days. I personally like European touring and the still relatively uncluttered roads. And when you get into the hills and mountains you can have fun and still be within the law. Would be interesting to know about the rest of you guys (and girls).
  4. Following the recent bad weather, the thaw has exposed some new and unwelcome potholes around here which I'm pretty sure will be low on the list of the ConDems priorities. Because the Zed rides like it has no suspension, I normally baby it over rough roads. With even more potholes to contend with I'm bound to have an even longer queue of irritated Micra, Escort, Punto, etc. drivers tailgating me. Question: Is the Zed suspension more robust than I give it credit for?
  5. Put 2 high viz jackets in the car preferably prominently displayed or the French police will do you for that.
  6. Welcome. Where are you based? Put some pics up when you can.
  7. There are 13 other Zed's in your price bracket in Autotrader. Do you specifically want the 06 blue one? I believe the road tax is quite a lot higher.
  8. Sorry to hear about the accident. I agree with some of the others. Same thing happened to us about 3 years ago and we have no claims bonus protection. We claimed and insurance premium didn't go up very much the next year at all. In fact, we're all likely to pay more because of all the accidents that have happened over the country. Go ahead and claim. That's what it's there for.
  9. How much did you pay for this? Seems to up to about £23 now instead of £4 - or am I missing something?
  10. I had exactly the same problem when I first joined. Turned out it was my anti-virus programme, Bullguard, that was knocking it off. Wasn't easy to put right but ok now.
  11. Do you mean the area around Lake Garda? I did a few jobs around Lake Garda, then Venice and Sardinia back in the 90's and didn't find the drivers particularly bad nor the roads, but then I was driving an Isuzu Trooper and towing a trailer. Suppose when I went there I was pretty naive and had yet to be put off by other people's opinions. This year, twenty years later, I had hoped to do a touring holiday of the Amalfi coast in the Zed but have now been put off by reading various forums and watching Youtube videos. So, the next favoured option is inland from Pescara halfway down the boot. When in spring are you going??
  12. Hi and welcome. Congratulations on your recent purchase. I too looked at an Audi TT but settled on the impractical but more fun Zed.
  13. Yeah, that's what worries me. There is the possibility of hiring an apartment I know of on the other side of Italy. The owner has driven there many times and has a Saab estate. Might be a little less risky.
  14. I was thinking about this for next June's holiday in the Zed. Doesn't it look just fabulous? But having asked the same question on Trip Advisor, I'm not so sure. Guess it what old age does to you.
  15. Funnily enough, I suggested to my wife this morning that if she wasn't going to overtake the Vauxhall Corsa in front, being driven at 36mph in a 60, that she should drop back a bit to save all the salt, mud and crud going through the radiator of her KA.
  16. Welcome to the site. Mine looks the same only yours has nicer wheels. Hope you have many enjoyable and safe miles.
  17. This probably is a stupid question but I had a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 2s on a Mondeo I used to own and found them to be great. Would it be illogical to assume they would work well on the Zed? And they're pretty reasonably priced in Zed sizes.
  18. Did anyone overtake on the circuit? I might have nodded off once or twice. The thing that really made me squirm was when Eddie Jordan bowed and groveled to what I can only presume was the king of Abu Dhabi and then said to Berni Ecclestone "you are our inspiration and leader". What a load of twaddle.
  19. I wanted a Renault Clio 1.5 dci 100 hp for a second car. 50mpg and road tax at £30, 0-60 in just over 10 seconds and top speed of 115mph. Got a KA instead. Don't ask!
  20. I have the same problem. The manual says use a long pozi-drive screwdriver through the hole in the radiator cowling and turn clockwise for up and visa versa for down. But what's the ratchet screw on the back of the unit for? See pictures.
  21. Whatever you do, DON'T get a Ford KA. Reluctantly, I traded in my Mondeo 2.0 TDci when I got the Zed because the wife said it was too big for her to drive and she couldn't park it. She still can't park the KA, we can't comfortably get passengers in and out of the rear seats we may even have to drive it to Brussels soon so that we can carry an extra passenger if need be!!!
  22. I'd like to go back to earlier threads about what's wrong with F1. Drivers get contracts based on the sponsorship they attract. Fifteen guys in Surrey effectively run the car and the race strategy. Finally, we had Eddie Jordan informed us that the reason boring circuits had been opened in the Middle East and Far East was because the money and manufacturers were there. Hope the BBC drops it for next year. Indy car racing on street circuits is far more entertaining as is BTCC and what ever happened to Formula A??
  23. Welcome to the forum. I've only recently joined and have found the club very friendly and the threads informative although some of the jargon is a bit confusing.
