  5. Quick question, Are there any after market hardtops available for the roadster? Thanks, Pete

    RS200

They had one on display at Fords M53 Showroom in Ellesmere Port in 1989. I think it was one of Ford's works rally cars, it wasn't for sale but 80k sounds about right. It's the only one I've ever seen, looking at those pics of it, those tyres look very interesting, at first glance they look to be worn out on the edges, but I think that it's just an unusual tread pattern, not sure what the police would make of it though . 7. The most distant galaxies that we can observe are 18 billion light years away and they are receding at 98% the speed of light. Beyond that, there are certain to be galaxies that we can't detect as they are travelling faster than the speed of light, relative to us. How is this possible? Well, if we are moving away from the area of the big bang at 30% S.O.L and another galaxy is going in the opposite direction at 80% then we'll never be able to observe it. If you assume that space is infinite, mind boggling and difficult to grasp, then our universe is simply expanding into empty space. Scientists are divided about the fate of the universe, will it expand forever or will it collapse on itself. It would seem at the moment that infinite expansion is the most likely scenario as scientist estimate that unless there's a whole lot of things we can't see then there isn't enough mass for the universe to collapse. How they figure out the weight of the universe is beyond me. So what's beyond our universe? Just empty space? Maybe, or an infinite number of universes like ours at distances that we can't comprehend, anything's possible. I don't accept Stephen Hawkings version of events, I prefer the older big bang theory . Actually, I never dwell on this for too long, I'd go mad if I did Pete
  8. Seem to have covered a lot of my pet hates there. Here's a few more.... The inconsiderable..You're queueing up to leave the supermarket car park and finally you're at the junction, you look left, look right, look left again only to find that some inconsiderate person has pulled up alongside you in their chelsea tractor completely blocking your view . The impatient...We've all seen these, you're on a 2 lane or 3 lane road, your'e stuck in a queue of slow moving traffic when the person in front notices that one of the lanes is moving slightly faster he then changes (usually without signalling) lane only to change again when the new lane he has chosen slows down and so on.... The clairvoyant... These are drivers who assume that everyone on the road has knowledge of what they are about to do. They rarely use their indicators and frequently decide to make a turning without any warning. The red lighters...These are people who drive so close to the car in front that their brake lights are on and off every few seconds. The dangerous...Usually, but not exclusively, Boy Racers. You can see these in action in any supermarket car park, they do a racing start, spinning their wheels, completely oblivious to the fact that there are pedestrians and young children wandering around. And Finally, The Deaf...This affliction seems to affect young drivers the most, you know the type, they have the stereo turned up so loud that everyone within 100yards is assaulted with a barrage of thud, thuds. They are obviously hard of hearing 'cos I can hear it from miles away. Funny thing is though, they all seem to be playing the same tune, it goes thud, thud, thud..I'm sure you must have heard it Pete
  9. Thanks for posting the photos, had a quick look at a few and they look really good. I'll examine them in more detail later . Cheers, Pete
  10. After reading through this I've come to the conclusion I'm either an anatomical freak or have a unique driving position . At 6'0" I'm pretty small compared with some yet I have the seat back as far as it will go and could do with it going back a bit more, same with every single car I have ever owned. I can only think that you really tall guys say 6'3" upwards must have the ability to compensate by adopting a completely different driving position than the one I use . Pete
  11. That branch in Huntington switched to Citroen a couple of years ago. They had a bad reputation and lost their Nissan dealership rights. It was an awful place to get to in any case. . Can't say I've seen an Azure roadster around Chester but I'll be on the lookout Pete
  12. I went to Nissan Chester last week and it cost me £253 for a P3 service. Very efficient, cleaned my car for me and I had 2 courtesy call from them asking if everything was O.K. People will always have differing opinions of garages but I found Lookers to be very good, they even offered me a courtesy car for a few hours. Pete
  13. Weren't they designed in California? Pete
  14. Caroline pays around £600 for her roadster and that includes breakdown and windscreen cover with Lloyds TSB. One or two other insurers came out slightly cheaper. Pete
  15. This is something everyone should be aware of. The police scan all sorts of forums and websites routinely, it's just part of their jobs in the electronic age. It's possible that 3rd parties scan forums and report things to the police as well? I'm not sure I agree with you entirely though, many terrorist plots and other unmentionable things have been uncovered by police gaining evidence from Internet posting, I'm pretty certain that they scan Boy Racer forums to see if there's a street race lined up anywhere...and what about the idiots that post videos of themselves driving recklessly at breakneck speeds. I don't think we've got much to worry about here though . Pete
  16. If my insurance tried to not pay out because of oem xenon lights id eat my right shoe, shortly followed by the left But your right man, its amazing how much the police and insurances use forums for information.. Like 10ps over on pistonheads... If youve never read this, its definately worth a look! .. One of the best things ever posted on a motoring forum imo.. http://prisondiary.co.uk/ Everyone here should read that and digest it thoroughly. Although I've never had anything more than a couple of very minor bumps, I realised many years ago a few things. Like overtaking a long line of cars by jumping past them one or two at a time gets you nowhere, how many times have you seen people doing this only to end up a few cars ahead of you at the next set of traffic lights. I also realised that I wasn't as good a driver as I thought I was...unfortunately only a few people are prepared to admit it, most drivers, especially young men vastly overestimate their driving skills (I know I did), quite often to their own cost not to mention the damage they inflict on other often innocent road users. You've seen what happened to this guy by making just one mistake....Thanks for posting the link, it's a real eye opener. Pete
  17. A really nice 350z on the A55 on a private Plate, V6 ---, full body kit, going about 55. I overtook him and waved but I think he thought I wanted a race and when the opportunity arose he screamed past me...oh well . Turned off at Waverton. Pete
  18. Yes...That fixed it Thanks, Pete
  19. I don't know if this is normal but comparing my wife's 08 zed to my 55 model that hers unlocks both doors with one press of the key fob while mine needs to be pressed twice, once for drivers side and then again for passenger door. Quite annoying really, so my question is, can it be changed to unlock both doors at the same time. Thanks, Pete
  20. The main problem I had last winter was actually getting into the car, the door locks were frozen solid on many occasions, anyone else have this problem? Pete
  21. Only as a passenger, my dad used them in the winter of 62/63, I think he had them on his mini for about a month. It was so cold and snowy that winter that grit and salt had little effect and all the roads, even the main ones around here had packed snow on them for weeks on end. Some roads, including where I live now were closed for 3 months and the council concentrated on keeping the main roads "passable". Pete
  22. Just imagine a prospective buyer taking that for a test drive Well, I knew mine was a U.K model quite a while ago. Only joking 'cos that's what it looked like when I first read it. Pete
  23. Yeah, I'll keep an eye out for you. Pete
