  1. The thing is though it would make no difference imo to a stolen car being recovered or not. Lets pretend for starters that the thieves leave your legitimate plates (on the car you've now reported as stolen) on & don't replace them with stolen plates not yet marked as stolen or some other fake/cloned plates. If we had no front number plates then the static ANPR cameras would all be set up to read the rear plates. Same for ANPR camera vans & parked up patrol cars, ...they would just park up in order to ensure seeing the rear plates instead of the front. As for Police patrols driving around then there would still be the same chance as there is now. They could be driving behind a stolen car & spot it or if they're in front of a stolen car not spot it as the ANPR cameras in patrol cars AFAIK do not point backwards at the front of following cars anyway. Oh but I do agree with you that this petition is a waste of time. I'm pretty sure that mobile speed cameras face forward so that the operator can see the vehicles coming towards them. Anyway, probably against EU rules not to have a front number plate Pete
  2. Sad day today, 2 of the kittens have left to go to their new homes and a third will be leaving on Saturday, you get very attached to them after 12 weeks, we'd even gave one of them a name (Which he's keeping). Still, the great thing is that the people who bought them were really nice and will all make great homes for them. I'll really miss them tearing around the house like demented lunatics but I certainly won't miss endless changes of cat litter . Still got 3 more left to sell but I expect them to be snapped up in the next few days. Pete
  3. Just curious but has anyone changed their mind during the campaign? Pete
  4. Well done Wales, as long as England persist in this painfully slow build up allowing the opposition to get 11 men behind the ball then they'll struggle to score and it doesn't help that they keep over hitting crosses I'm afraid. They're one of the best teams at this tournament, no doubt about that and very difficult to beat but they'll struggle when they come up against a team like Spain. Pete
  5. Indeed. I'm fairly pro-immigration, but I'm certainly not up for a free for all. Yes, I don't support a free for all but one of the main problems as I see it is the success of the U.K economy, if we weren't doing so well then the country wouldn't be so attractive, a sort of catch 22 situation. It would seem to me that one of the fears that many have is that the country will be less British but history doesn't support that, for example anyone who visits The United States will know how patriotic they are (flags in gardens) yet the U.S had millions and millions of immigrants who rapidly assimilated into the country, pretty much the same for Australia and Canada, anyone remember assisted passages BTW? I'm a great believer that people should not be restricted to the country of their birth, In fact I think that humans should be able to move around the world freely rather than being stuck in the lump of land they happen to be born in (I'm quite a dreamer at times ) I realize that this just isn't remotely feasible and probably never will be. 6. Absolute stitch up , it's a picture that was on the front page of all the mainstream press but just because Farage uses it it's racist...two faced baffoons Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk It's worth noting that many in the leave camp have also condemned the poster and I doesn't matter to me who came up with it it's simply racist filth. Pete Spineless.....a lot of leave are now just back peddling to save there own hides no commitment Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk Not everyone in the leave camp are racists, in fact the majority are decent people. As I see it the leave campaign is made up of 2 distinct and different groups, those who are anti immigration and those who genuinely believe we can do better outside of Europe. I don't have any problem with the latter group, they just happen to be wrong but I find a picture of desperate people fleeing a war to promote your campaign highly offensive. Britain is better than that surely. Pete

  8. Sadly, the whole campaign by both sides has been a disaster and a disgrace. We now have a government that is trading insults with each other, an opposition leader that seems to be reluctant to go along with the remain campaign and a far right wing party that is determined to pray on peoples fear of immigration. We have distorted facts and figures, and a campaign based on fear, once again both sides are just as guilty here but worse still we have the whole country split down the middle, a festering sore that won't go away no matter what the result. I mean, do you think Nigel Farage is going crawl back under a stone if the Remain camp win?...not a chance. Pete
  9. Looking forward to this, pity both games are on at the same time though as I'd like to have seen Wales crush those horrible Russians. Pete
  10. Just a quick update on the younger kittens. They are all doing well now, one of them had a sticky eye and went quite thin but a trip to the vets and some eye drops looks to have sorted it out. Here are 3 of the 4. Pete
  11. Not impressed by any team so far. Spain and Croatia are the best of an average bunch. The only thing that stands out is the standard of the minnow countries, like Iceland, Albania and dare I say it Wales. These would have been easy 6-0 wins for the big boys just a few years ago, now they're really struggling to beat them. Pete
  12. The cat has returned overnight . You can clearly see the lump removed from her ear. Will be taking it to the vets when they open shortly. Pete
  13. Further update and mystery solved..... The cat has not yet returned but I have more info. It turned out not to be the cat that vanished from Broughton in March 2015. I spoke to the lady who owned this cat over the phone and she sent my investigation in a different direction (how she got this information is a mystery). It turns out that this cat is called "Blackie", is 8 years old and is an ex feral cat. Vets nick the left ear to signify when a female feral is neutered only I think the vet who did this cat was somewhat over zealous. Anyway, it escaped from a visit to the vet about 2 weeks ago, as the crow flies about a mile and a half away and was being treated for cat flu. The vet I spoke to confirmed this and also that if I take the cat back there it'll be treated and not put to sleep which has put my mind at rest. The owners of the cat are currently on holiday but just in case the cat doesn't return I have their phone number. Pete
  14. Slightly different but here goes. A couple of years ago Caroline made me a cup of tea that tasted absolutely foul, I threw it away and made a fresh one, same thing, just disgusting so I made a third one which was O.K. Several months passed and the same thing again, 2 cups tasted like crap but the third one was O.K. Then, a couple of weeks later I caught her pouring the contents of a Hot water bottle into the kettle . Had to laugh but strangely she had also drunk the tea and didn't notice the taste of what I now realize was rubber Pete
  15. Update........Good news. Cat is much better this morning and has eaten another bowl of food. The way he greeted me indicates he's used to humans, you can't tame a feral in one day. Also, I'm fairly certain I've identified the owner through a cat lost and found site, matches the description perfectly including the large V shaped cut in the left ear. If I'm right, cat has been missing since March 2015 and its home is in Broughton about 5 miles away. I'll keep you updated on developments. Cat is painfully thin and has a distended stomach but he seems better in himself and has now gone out. Pete
  16. Problem! About a week ago we spotted a Black feral cat in our garden, no doubt it got a sniff of our females in the cattery. We spotted it a few times over the next few days, it looked to be in poor shape with half of one ear missing and looking very tatty. Today it came in the house and flopped down in the front room behind the dining table. After much growling from the other cats it retreated into the bathroom. It didn't run away but just sat there, eventually allowing me to stroke it and after a few minutes it started purring. Now then, it's still in the bathroom, its eaten a bowlful of food and I've picked it up and put it into a cat basket where it quickly settled down. When I picked it up, I could feel a lump on its stomach, quite often a sign of cancer. I've decided to leave him in the bathroom tonight and see how he is in the morning before I make a decision on what to do. If he's no better or sadly worse I guess I'll have to call the vet and have him put to sleep as I can't really justify spending loads of money and I already have enough cats. If he's better and still friendly I'll phone around the animal rescue places see if anyone will take him. Pete
  17. There seems little point being at the table as even if we disagree, which we have, out of 530 odd regs we objected to 480 still got passed. We have nowhere near enough of a voice, which we should have with our contribution. https://fullfact.org...s-uk-influence/ More here. http://ukandeu.ac.uk/explainers/does-the-uk-win-or-lose-in-the-council-of-ministers/ Pete
  18. We can control immigration from outside the EU though and figures show that 196,000 immigrants came from outside The EU compared with 183,000 from within it (2015 figures) Pete The figures relased are known not to be accurate Well that's rich coming from the Brexit camp. Pete

  20. Sadly, that's very true, fear of immigration seems to be deep rooted in many peoples psyche. Back in the 1950's it was fear of Black immigrants, in the 1970's Asian immigrants and these days Eastern European immigrants. I and my family experienced this myself when I moved to Wales from England back in 1961, I was picked on at school because I was English Not so bad these days as over half of people who live in my neck of the woods were born outside of Wales but there are still pockets of places within Wales (and Scotland too) where The English aren't welcome. That's just how irrational some people are. Pete
  21. Neither of us, I was there yesterday morning though in my coupe click and collecting Pete
  22. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36468138 How much of that has been recouped by fines they don't say but must be considerable. Pete
  23. They did that in 1997 so that only cars registered in 1972 or earlier were exempt from paying tax. The car only had to be 25 years old back in 1997. The amount of money raised by doing this was peanuts. Cars now have to be 40 years old to qualify, which is a more realistic age for exemption. Pete
