  1. I had a vx220 before and changed to a 350z. Its a good step, the zed gives a certain amount of driving pleasure you get from an Elise, but is so much more refined. Sure give you a twisty road and the Elise will be more fun, but the Zed is better than most in that department, plus its better on the motorway, easier to get into and out of, plenty quick and looks great too! You'll love it I'm sure!
  2. Welcome from another former VX220 owner! There are quite a few of us on here now...
  3. Surely the guy is a troll. Nobody would actually write that would they?
  4. My previous car was an ex-demo (not zed) and was fine with one exception, one of the doors had been pranged at some point and resprayed. (which they obviously failed to mention) Check the paintwork carefully and make sure you see it in different light conditions my was fine in the bright light of day but was a horrible colour match at dusk (showed up really badly in photos too). I eventually got them to respray the door (for free) but I had to work hard to get it done... one thing worth bearing in mind is some places let their staff take the car home in the evenings/weekends which is when the abuse happens. It won't have had a hard life in test drives but if they are effectively using it as a company car then it is more likely to have lead a harder life. Don't foget thought he zed is a sports car and designed to be thrashed
  5. Golf GTi is a quick car, particularly in DSG guise. From the stats I wouldn't expect to see a massive difference between cars on the road. The zed is only a second quicker to 60 and that really doesn't equate to much on the road. Plus he may have been in a better gear to start with and may not be standard. Don't worry about it!
  6. Volvo XC90, apparently has 7 seats and a boot. Clarkson raves about how good his one is... They look quite nice for what they are too.
  7. We didn't want to go abroad for the last one I went on so we did Newquay last year, great activities with stuff like coasteering, surfing, go-karts etc. Plenty of bars but loads and loads of stag doos so the men out number women quite badly. Still had a great time though, and reasonably cheap.
  8. I've seen a few of these in London village... they look better in the flesh than they do in photos, quite different to most stuff on the road so they do stand out from the crowd.
  9. Doesn't look like anything special to me but then I'm not sold on the iphone either. yes I'm sure it will work well, but its nothing new, tablet PCs have been around for ages but never really caught on. However as its Apple and looks like a giant iphone I'm sure it will be a hit. usual they sure are good at marketing at Apple...
  10. Well not really, garages don't get classed as owners hence why there is a "sold to the motor trade" box to tick on your V5. However its not unusually for sports cars to have a lot of owners. People buy them not realising they are impratical, thirsty, noisey etc and get a shock when they have driven it for a few weeks and sell on fast. However the fact the guy couldn't shift a low mileage 06 model for £12.5k is a bit strange...
  11. I looked into this a few months back I was thinking of towing a jetski. I couldn't find anything in the UK, and there wasn't a Nissan one. Good luck with the hunt though (and ignore everyone on here!)
  12. A silver or maybe GM (saw I dove past quickly) 350z with after market black and silver wheels parked up in a side street in Apsley. Is it anybody here? Looking at buying a house on the street you were parked on so could do with any insider knowledge!
  13. Good film, but how they can call it a "feel good movie" is beyond me. Its a miserable movie!
  14. Rickmansworth... hmmmm... Rightmove here I come! Any parts of Rickmansowrth to avoid?
  15. Perfect! thats one of the places I was looking. PM on its way to you...
  16. Ok, here goes, random request... Are there any members on here who live in or around Hemel Hempstead? I'm potentially moving to the area and was wondering if anyone would be willing to offer me some advice on some areas I have been thinking about? I've driven round the area a few times and there seems to be some nice and not so nice parts but I was hoping some one might be able to help me confirm my initial thoughts. Thanks
  17. I was thinking a very similar thing. Discussed on http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=31267 i know if I got some winter tyres though it won't snow for years!
  18. I have a similar-ish rattle but it doesn't appear linked to engine speed. I have been told that I do have the clicky rear axle by nissan at the last service. It certainly seems to come from the back of the car. Can you get someone to walk along side the car as you pull off to see if they can work out which end of the car is doing the rattling?
  19. good choice. RE40s aren't great in the wet I must confess Has anybody tried sticking extra weight in the boot to give more traction too?
  20. Also a Londoner and also have exactly the same problem. Used mine twice, epic fail both times, now gathering dust in a draw somewhere...
  21. As others have said you will probably struggle to get a facelift car for your budget, but don't worry the prefacelift car is also fantastic! In fact quite a few people on here have said there is very little difference in performance between the 2 engines, and some have even stated they prefer the pre facelift engine. Rear LED lights can be changed very easily, and all cars are 6 speed. The interior is slightly better on facelifted cars but you don't buy a 350z for the interior anyway... Look out for clicky rear driveshafts when pulling away, make sure the stereo works and the CD player doesn't skip, and that the windows go up and down when opening and closing the doors. have a scout around in the FAQ section there is loads of info in there...
  22. I have one of these (not a parking dynamics one but a cheap copy off ebay). Seems to work pretty well, I occasionally get a false alarm going over metal grating and things but its always worked OK to indicate you are close to something. I've had normal parking sensors in the past which have given about the same amount of false warnings. Dead easy to fit with the bumper off (which is very easy to get off BTW), for power you just need to splice into the loom for the reverse light. The tape (sensor) just sticks onto the bumper so its best to take the bumper off so you can give it a good clean prior to sticking it on (I put a bit of extra tape over the ends of mine to make it a bit more secure). There is a grommet under the bumper for the electrics/speaker to come into the car which I threaded the cable through. The speaker is pretty loud on mine so you could put it anywhere in the boot and still hear it. I wouldn't say its perfect, but it certainly works, and if you need to back your car close to a wall on a regular basis like I do it really helps

  24. I had that too! thought it would be easy to slide over but that transmission tunnel is begger than it looks! Not elegant at all!
