  1. 'Never Again' seems to be the general feeling on this then!! Fair enough, I'll hang fire for now, keep the pennies aside for a 'proper job'. Might still have Friday off though...
  2. Personally I put about an inch and no more of snow foam solution in the bottle and top up with warm water, foam the car and leave for 5 mins, rinse, repeat the foam but leave it on and wash down with a bucket of shampoo & wash mitt top to bottom (2 bucket method i.e. suds bucket & mitt rinse bucket), then rinse thoroughly
  3. Ouch, way to kill my enthusiasm eh hmm... will have a serious think! My sentiments are keeping cost to a minimum; I wanna do stuff but for as little as possible, don't have the disposable cash for car mods! Thanks for your feedback though!
  4. Hi all, I'm considering taking Friday off work with the intention of doing a few little jobs on the car while I'm at it, one of which being to polish up the plenum. I've had a search through topics and found a few before & afters etc. but no specific guides detailing the how to & a key point for me being timescale; can it be done in a day? I'm no engine whizz, but I'll work my way through and have a good go with the right advice So... method in mind is having removed the plenum (simple job??), initially using a wire brush to cut into the surface / remove any crap and thinking a wire attachment for the drill for bolt holes etc, then starting with heavier sand paper & getting finer as I go along.... Does that sound about right? Any special precautions I should take / anything I'm missing? Cheers in advance guys
  5. that's ace... riding a scooter at his age, amazing!
  6. I've got the cleanyourcar one and it's mint, if you scroll down on that page to the images that's my Zed being foamed. I use it with the PH Neutral Snow Foam, and I use it on a Karcher pressure washer.
  7. Yeah it's good n sturdy, nothing to scratch / peel, seems to be standing the test of time, and doesn't bang on the knee of lanky sods like me
  8. I've got the 'Z'.... and my nectar tag well it does go through some juice, may as well get something back! I actually wondered if it's something the dealer might be able to help with at the Yorkshire meet this Sunday, may be able to come up with something....
  9. Usually extra grounds are added to keep nice, clean grounding preventing unwanted interference etc +1 I've had instances in the past, when running a Pioneer AVIC-X1R with aftermarket amps & speakers, somehow something's gone wrong with the earthing and it's buggered up the signal from the pre-outs, sI tarted getting engine interferance through the amp'd subs & speakers.
  10. Am over towards Bradford but work in Shakey Wakey at the mo. If you see someone going sideways round the roundabout at junction 29 you'll know who I am! it'll be like looking in a mirror! Sound, will keep my eyes peeled for ya
  11. Looks decent bud, though shop about and you'll get the AVH-P4100 for about the same price (full 7.5" touch screen)... Chippy has recently done an install of the 4100 http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=28706 This is the route I eventually intened to take... but short funds mean IPod & FM transmitter will have to do for now
  12. bud and lovely looking Zed ... in fact you've just inadvertently made my mind up for me on the satin silver 'Z' emblems, deffo going for them instead of the chrome
  13. The irony of it is, I'm so called 'Indigenous', but given half a chance I'd be off like a shot!! Long time goal: British Columbia
  14. to the club bud, car looks good choice of colour Where bouts in West Yorks are ya?
  15. Yeah a ssimple Karcher pressure washer would suffice, I run one using a foam lance and PH Neutral Snow Foam from the website below (in fact the 350Z pictured is mine, to give you an idea of the thickness). http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/foam-lance-various-fittings/prod_371.html Here's the method you should use: 1. Jet down with water first to wet the car, remove dirt / dust / debris from body, under arches etc. 2. Bang the foam lance on, 1cm of foam solution and filled to the top with warm water, completely cover the car and allow to soak for 5 mins. 3. Thoroughly rinse 4. I then fully foam it again, but with some shampoo also in the solution, and then proceed to wash from top to bottom with a microfibre wash mit (using a two bucket method i.e. one bucket with your suds in and one for rinsing your mit (to get rid of any grit it picks up). 5. Rinse down fully. 6. Wash the wheels 7. Dry the car using terry towels / microfibres and buff up ... then go on to do whatever polishing you're doing (if) and Robert's your mothers brother I found it halved the time of my usual routine. I also used the foamer to do all my house windows & doors too, it's bloody good fun and addictive Hope that helps!
  16. It's a shot in the dark (as I don't have one myself, but have on other cars), but is it possible you've over oiled & got some on the MAF sensor? If so give it a clean up
  17. Unfourtunatly i think this will be the killer. although because I own and insure (in my own name obviously) my 350z (i.e. large engined car) The insurace company we use at work allows me to drive any car i want (its just the excess is a tad higher if i stack one!)......... so......... there may still be a strand of hope left! Jak +1 - Same with me, seen as the zed isn't the most practical of cars, on a family doo or out for a meal it'd be useful for me to be able to drive my dads A3 2.0 TDI S-line, but having looked into it his insurance comapny won't add me on until i'm 25!? WTF, I drive a 3.5 V6 rear wheeled monster!? I'd be 3rd party via my own insurance, but he won't wear it
  18. I have loads since I'm always looking and drooling and hoping... but for now:
  19. That's a massive help, thanks I was planning on putting together the shopping list, but you've saved me the effort!! Know what you mean though, start off with the head unit and the cost just gets bigger an bigger! Tbf, it's still cheaper than RAM were quoting me for the HU alone so... bargain..?
  20. Thanks, good luck with the install Credit card is screaming at me
