  1. Hoping people can help me decide if this car is worth buying or avoiding, we went to look at it Saturday morning. Its a red Leon Cupra R, full SH from Seat, which checks out with the garage, as iv rung them. Its a 2010 plate with 32k on the clock. We arrive in Coventry, and find the house ok, car parked out the front, has not been turned over, so engine cold, and the car looks pretty decent, the exhausts are shiny and the insides of the wheels are pretty clean. Mo, the guy we went to meet, was open on the phone that it was not his car, it was his sister in law's car, and she wants it sold as she is not using it much, and does not have a job. However, we didnt view the car at the same address that the car is registered at , though its only 4 miles away. The car was at his brother's house, (not his house, he lives round the corner), however, he let us in the house, which was well presented, and even offered us a cup of tea. The house belongs to his brother, and he lives with his parents. So, not his house, not his car, and not at the address the car is registered at...... The car all checks out, plugged in my fault reader, and didnt get any faults recorded. The only thing I could find fault with, was some minor kerbing on the wheels, and front tyres that will need replacing at some point soon. Paint work was decent, and panel gaps were good all round, and the car drove really smoothly. Price wise, its on the money, and is very well spec'd. We did an HPI check when we got home, and it said it had outstanding finance on it. The wife called him up, and he said that she did take a loan out on the car, but paid it off after 6 months, and he was surprised that it showed up. Looking over the car, i found a couple of long dark hairs, which makes sense, as well as some photo ID in the centre arm rest for the lady who owned the car. (But is that odd, if she is not working now, would she have kept the ID.....) He showed me the R8 V10 his brother had in the garage, which was nice. Something about the situation that does not seem right to me, but maybe im just being paranoid. It will be the wife's car, and she has said that she needs to see a closing statement from the bank/ financer regarding the settlement of the loan etc, before we proceed. She has put a £150 deposit down, and got a receipt for it, and agreed that if the car doe snot check out, we get that back. That is how we have left it. Let me know your thoughts please, its a fair chunk of money, and we want to get it right.
  2. The HR bonnet harks back to bonnets of the old 240Z etc, so from that point of view its god to see on the car. Loads of people go for the HR bonnet, so the DE ones are getting rarer. I like the 2 creases in the DE bonnet, shame that Nissan never carried it over the roof, like the Crossfire
  3. Well there is a big refurb/refresh of the VX planned for the winter, so the funds would help with that, as well as pay off a chunck of the loan I got to buy the thing. I need to get a few bits tidied up first, and a proper polish. Been slacking with the detailing recently.
  4. Im next to Jnc 14 of the M1, Milton Keynes, so hopefully, if i get my arse in gear, it will go to a good home, just dont really want to sell it. Had alot of good times in it, and the recent trip to Cornwall in it was great. Just struggling to justify having 2 cars off the road in the winter, not to mention the cost. Would like to think our F1 cars are better built to be honest, but yeah i know what you mean. lol
  5. Its an amazing experience, looking forward to stripping it down over the winter and cleaning and powder coating all the suspension etc. Especially after the grease from the CV joint, that has got everywhere!
  6. Im blaming you for my weight loss addiction Col! lol It is a brilliant car, infuriating at times, but still brilliant. So far iv had the speedo fail, and a CV boot slip off, grease everywhere and a busted CV joint due to lack of grease. lol Also replaced the AP disc's on the bells, and the caliper seals. Its cost me a pretty penny so far, but hope to get it to a level where it will be just a case of maintaining it. I went through a similar thing with the Zed, its now just a case of keeping it going.
  7. Wondering if its too late in the year to sell my beloved Zed? It was inevitable really, but id hoped to keep her for another year, but its not getting much use since iv had the VX, and i dont want to drive either car in the winter months. Not been on here much recently either, mainly because the plastic box of joy has taken up a fair bit of my time, not to mention cash. Really dont want to sell it, but il be getting a car for the winter months, so we will be having 3 cars on the drive, with the VX in the garage.
  8. Love the convertible R35!

    E9X M3....

Good friend of mine had one for a few years, and as Dan said, its a great car, but my mate struggled to love his. He has a dark blue one, black 19" wheels, manual with the electronic dampers. I never drove it, but he took me out in it a fair bit, and the exhaust was more muted than what id like, and although its based on a 3 series, id makesure you treat it like a 40k+ sports car when it comes to running costs. He sold his 350Z for the M3, and always says he misses the 350Z, (as a car) and just says that he misses the noise of the M3. (but not really the car). He also had a few issues with his, but these things should have been sorted by previous owners if you got one.
  10. Looking at doing Bedford on the 29th in the VX if anyone is interested in joining me. Would be great to see some Zed's on track.
  11. They look superb, im abit of an engineering geek, so these really appeal to me. Is there a chance you would also do a VX220 also? I see you do the Lotus Elise etc. 1-14N - 350Z - modified 2-bodyboarder81 - 350Z - modified 3-Daryl- 350Z Modified
  12. Love the 6 Zero Fighter, remember seeing the review of that in Evo, the wheels are mega
  13. That track is always boring though, cant believe that they keep it, yet Germany loses out, and sounds like Monza will next year. Just stupid.

    VX220

Took my friend out in it, (this is happening quite alot, I should start charging for fuel), and he loved it. We are both Vauxhall boys at heart, and he loves the SC whine, and the instant thrust. Need to take the Zed out, and give that a good thrashing, its been a while.

    VX220

Sounds like the driver was abit of a twonk if he is pulling dangerous moves

    VX220

Yeah i jumped in it the other day for its MOT, and it felt like a barge compared to the VX. Lovely noise though, and its quicker than it feels.

    VX220

The Zed is being a little neglected at the moment, need to go for a long drive, burn some serious fuel! The VX is surprisingly good on fuel on a long run.

Well it passed its MOT with no issue yesterday, had a new set of 595RSR's fitted Wednesday, so got some decent grip now, which is good. Loving the power i must admit, its scary how fast it piles on speed, it rips through the first 2 gears no issues.
  19. Found this thread on the VX forum, this is the original thread, sorry its all in non English http://rejsa.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74693&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
  20. Had these for a few years, and they are great. The cable also is detachable, so if you break it, you just get a new cable
  21. Iv got a set of Goldring NS something. Were rated almost as good at the Bose noise cancelling ones, but less than half the price. http://www.superfi.co.uk/p-13764-goldring-ns1000-expedition-noise-cancelling-portable-headphones.aspx

    VX220

Well I took the VX out on Friday with my mate, and have to say had a storming drive in it, totally immersive experience. As for comments, yes, the build quality is not up to what you would call 'normal' standards, but it was built by some carrot crunchers in a shed. lol It takes some getting used to regarding the driving around other cars etc, having the lights on all the time helps though. I think its fair to say I have got the best/everything out of the rear 888's, and they are being replaced on Thursday when it goes in for its MOT. As for speed, yes, it goes like a stabbed rat, would be good to try to get some times for acceleration at some point when im on track, as it has to be close to 4 seconds to 60, and it does need another gear really, as 5 gets used up quite quickly. I am finding a knack of getting in and out with the roof on, though its a million times easier with it off
  23. Dan, im looking at doing a track day at Bedford soon, to learn the new car abit, can i contact you nearer the time, and see if you rare free. Would also like to hear your comments on my VX, and what you think needs improving.

Yeah i know that guy, Fezzasus or something, though i actually think he has stopped making them now. I do have the rubbish hose in there, as i remember seeing it, so il look at getting that silcone hose from Ebay, unless a guy on the forum makes them
