Currently sat at Sochi airport waiting for my flight home. Have to say the women here in Russia are HOT! Track looks pretty good, the last turn is very tight, hopefully should be good for overtaking.
-
Anyone any ideas or suggestions?
-
Sly checked all the usual weak spots and made sure everything was as tight as it should be. Im wondering if its a steering joint or something.
-
Im sure its started before id had the coilovers fitted, but it seems to be getting worse. (Sorry this is not about exhausts popping) Basically, i can feel something making what can only be described as a popping noise on the drivers side front area. Its pretty loud too. When i took it to Sly to check everything else, he couldnt find anything wrong, though he agreed there was a noise. It sometimes even does it when the car is sat stationary. Now if i turn the steering wheel to the left and let go of it (With the car stationary), it sort of replicates it. I can feel it too when driving, though not isolated it to either the steering or the pedal area. I was wondering if its an engine mount or something steering related. I know these sorts of posts are a little tenious, but was hoping someone could possibly help.

Fair play mate, hope you really enjoy it, you will never get tired of that noise!

Had an issue with it not recognising my Airplay, but after a shut down and start up, all seems well again.

My mates with 70k on it when he bought it looked amazing, you would swear it was half that mileage, so agree with Dan, the inside and out is very well built, and defy their age, i wouldnt have known it was on 70k unless he told me.

Take the pads out, and see if there is anything trapped/caught in the pad. I had this, and ended up witha ring, though it was not in the middle like that. When i took the pad out, there was a lump of something holding the pad off, which is what was causing the ring, as the pad was not making 100% contact.

Up to 08 I think it was or maybe 09 when the 997.2 came out and they changed the design. I'm sure if I went for it nothing would happen, but it's the risk and knowing the IMS goes it's going to cost 5 figured to get it fixed! You can fit an aftermarket warning kit for the IMS failure, which will give you a warning of some sorts before you cause expensive damage. However, have not known anyone to kit one in my limited exposure to them. A good friend of mine got a 70k C4S 997.1 for £25k or something, and its a great car, though not massively faster than my DE Zed, but its a lovely place to sit, and the noise is growing on me. He went for a higher mileage car, as its less likely to suffer the IMS failure etc.

I LOVE NATALIE PINKHAM!

Its always good to wind people up about it though, like it being a posh Beetle.

I thought all Mezger engines suffered from the IMS and bore scoring, apart from the Turbo,GT2+GT3? There is definitely more scare mongering than actual failures though. I know several people at work who have Porsches and i know they have had no issues at all, and they get driven hard! A good friend of mine works at Porsche Silverstone, and he has said to me that the risk of failure is small. No different to walking in the street and getting hit by a bus!

Personall, id get a warranty, regardless which of the 2 you choose, but that is up to you. Im sure the 6 would be more preactical, so how often would you need to carry more than one passenger in comfort? I think its a beautiful shape, and im still a fan of the original Bangle 7 series. (Its an interesting car to look at) Personally, if you want something to replace the Zed, i think you will find it hard to choose the 6 over the 911, but if you are willing to compromise slightly on driving thrills (not in a straight line, as lets be honest, you would never get bored of that V10) then id go for the 6. The 911 is more outright sports car with a touch of practicality added in with the rear 'seats' Have you thought about an AMG Merc, CLK63 or something like that?

Have you got warranty with the car, if not, id say £100 a month well spent to be honest. That will makesure any issues are covered. You will love it, without a doubt, the noise alone is worth it. If you put your head near the bonnet vents, you can hear the engine sucking air in through them if you get someone to rev it.

anyone watching the new formula e?
Daryl replied to The Bounty Bar Kid's topic in Motorsport & Track Days
Yeah iv got it on, sounds like a load of RC cars. Its like a F1 graveyard though, just hope it gives some of the young and promising drivers a chance into F1. Did Senna's car have a front left suspension failure, looks like he hit the kerb and the wheel broke, couldnt see who he hit on that side. -
The thing that surprised me the most is how much I enjoyed it, it was a trip booked for Estelle more than me, as I knew she always wanted to go, but I had a really good time. The people are really nice, there is loads to see, and its a pretty clean city. We saw some of the 'real' NYC too, walked around the West side and also around China town and East Villiage and Grenwhich area. We found a brilliant a little bar in China Town called Skal, the guy who runs it grew up in England, and lived in the same villiage as Estelle around the same time,. We found the cocktails were expensive, but then found out that they were double strengths, so actually you get 2 in a glass. Estelle loved it, it was a really surprise, and was even better as we were bumped up to Club World on the flight out there and back, and we even got an upgrade to the hotel room, so it all went better than expected.

A close friend of mine had one, coupe, with 19" and the EDC as well. Had a couple of issues that were fixed under warranty, something to do with the fuel pump is quite a common problem apparently. Saying that, it was an amazing car, just expensive to run. Dont see it as a top line 3 series, and see it as a £50k sports car (or what ever they were new) and you will be fine. My mate really misses his, that V8 is stunning, though it sounds even better with a sports exhaust. Maybe your one will rot really quickly and need replacing! lol

Back in January I booked flights and hotel for me and Estelle to New York, and just told her what dates to book off work. Now keeping it a secret for 9 months has not been easy, a lot of family and friends knew, and luckily they keep quiet too. The trip morphed from Ireland, to The Ring, to Scotland. lol This was our 1st wedding anniversary present as well as her 30th birthday present, so I thought id make it special. Anyway, flew out Thursday morning, and got back Tuesday morning, and have to say what an amazing experience it was. I didnt think I would enjoy it as much as I did, but id happily go back there again, and soak up some more atmosphere, and explore some more. I think it has to be on the list of places you must go before you die. Saw pretty much every major sight there was to see, so it was an exhausting trip, but well worth it.
