Looking at the cellular network data usage on mine it's 8.5GB in the last 7 months, so over 1GB a month, some months will be higher than others, but I do seem to use mine a lot. Easiest way is to get one with an unlimited or fair usage policy of 5GB like orange and then I don't need to worry. Will go and get a hands on with the two phones and see what they are like.
-
500mb is not unlimited though is it. Its 500mb. Sometimes I can go over that quite easily, especially if it is shared across three business phones. O2 just dont seem to want to embrace mobile broadband at all. If Im going to be tethering a phone to a pc or using it as a mifi hotspot for either a car pc or the ipad etc, then 500mb is peanuts, you can use that up browsing google earth for half an our, or if using it while on satnav, it could use a lot of data.
-
Ive got to decide on a network too. As O2 have removed the unlimited data packages from the iPhone (which the missus will still have) then its a no go for me. Leaning back toward orange given I could get 3 phones sharing 500 minutes, free calls to each other, unlimited texts and unlimited data for £84 a month. Sounds pretty good to me.

Looking at the Sensation vs the Galaxy 2, they have the same processor, but the Galaxy comes with 16GB onboard, whereas the Sensation is just the 1GB. It can be expanded with a micro SD, but thats nowhere near as fast as the fixed ram. The slightly higher screen resolution on the Sensation however is apparently better when web browsing, which I do quite often on my mobile. If the HTC can be used to set up a mini hotspot too, then this on an unlimited data plan would look like being top of my list at present.

Just been looking at the Samsung Galaxy S II which is coming soon - looks to be quite good. Tracy will almost certainly go to the iphone 4 as her upgrade, but Im not a fan of the way the iphone I have is "locked down". I dont want to go down the "jailbreak" route for the phone, so the flexibility that may come with android appeals to me. Havent looked at the HTC sensation - will pull out a few reviews of that later

So, its fast approaching the time when Ill be looking at getting a new phone, and I havent got a clue as to what advancements have been made in this area in the last two years. Ive heard a lot of noise made about goodle android, and Ive also come to really like my iphone 3GS and honsetly think its the best phone Ive ever owned. Though it is only the second smartphone Ive owned - the first being a samsung omnia, which was quite pathetic to be honest. Is it possible to use a phone running Andriod as a mini router if you will, the ability to use the android phone and its 3G connection to let a pc/laptop/ipad/in car pc connect to the internet? Whats the benefits of Android over iPhone etc? The reason I was looking to go for a phone that I can use to connect to the internet and share the connection with the ipad etc was because I cant believe the data costs for either pay monthly or pay as you go mifi devices and dongles. It makes more sense to use an unlimited data package for the phone for occasioanl use with a car pc and ipad etc.. Any advice greatly appreciated

Agree. I used to play fps games on pc back in the days of tac ops etc but they have since become so complex in terms of controls and so much faster paced, a keyboard simply isnt up to the job imho. Flying helicopters for example in battlefield is so much more natural with joypad controls. Whichever your choice of control, thats besides the point. I dont hold out much hope for MW3 to be honest, the multiplayer has for the last few games been exactly the same just dressed in different skins and with different weapons. The "no scoping" on MW games was ridiculous on the first one, and has never been fixed on any subsequent variation. The ability to quickly use a controler to make a headshot without even looking down the scope due to the slight autoaim in the engine is quite frankly laughable. If they are going to add realism like destructible buildings, then I hope they go to the effort of making high powered sniper rifles one shot one kill and the fact you have to use a scope properly. Without that then it will continue to be the joke it is. Ill still get it and have a play as its all about having fun with friends, but having seen the gameplay footage from Battlefield, and the distinct lack of gameplay footage from MW3, I dont fancy its chances in a head to head. MW3 will probably win out in terms of sales due to the popularity of "brand", and I fear the developers know full well they will sell large numbers just off the back of the brand name, so wont have to put the effort in.

Ive just started collecting these - at least trying to get as close as possible to the car. I couldnt find a GT4 model, but did get a RHD yellow nismo one, which is close enough. This is the one I got - $65 from ebay. http://www.galerie.1zu87.com/1zu18_Niss ... 21853.html The level of detail is very nice too

Just to add, the ability to have it on while the car is locked and parked would be good for me. I have the car on a trickle charge in the garage so being in sleep wouldn't bother the battery. The possibility of being able to add music and other media to it via WLAN while I'm sat in the living room is just a geeks dream -

Saw this first hand in Wales and as someone who loves gadgets all I could say was "I think I had a crisis". Brilliant work. -

Took a beating on most stocks of mine over the last few days/weeks too. Though Ill be holding long term and cant see the actions of any jeapordising too much of my money. Well, if RMP hit a duster then I could be down a few k, but other than that I havent got too much in any other stock Id consider overly high risk. A multi billion barrel strike on any of the RMP projects and Ill be a much happier man. Ideally Id like them to strike the largest oil reserve ever found on the planet and struggle to get the drill bit through to it due to the large gold ore rock reserve they encountered along the way. I would then be able to quit the day job and mow my lawns for the rest of days.

Hopefully he wont wipe anyone else out when Darwins theory catches up with him.

Sadly I think it is a hoax, but it wouldnt surprise me if it were based on a true story. You want harsh, there was a story recently about a punishment of a man in, I think, Iran whom was sentenced to have acid poured in his eyes as that is what he had done to his victim, blinding and disfiguring her. Apparently there was an outcry as this was considered inhumane. Even though it was reported to be a punishment derived from Sharia law, many elements of which I dissagree with, this litteral "eye for an eye" punishment didn't bother me one jot.

I think that list probably has little to do with the cars, and everything to do with the popularity of these vehicles in areas where car vandalisinng scum breed.

Bancruptcy advise for a family member...?

£400 short on a £600 mortgage with today's interest rates is unbelievable. Did they do even the most basic back of a fag packet maths and work out what they would be paying?! What if the rate is raised .5%? With a base rate of half a percent, and many mortgages on rates such as 2.5% above base, then a half a percent rise from the boe would add a sixth (or on this case £100) to the repayments. 1% would add a third. Many people will find themselves coming unstuck unless they budget for these things. Declaring themselves bankrupt will have very long lasting and harsh consequences. They won't get credit again at reasonable rates for a very long time (though as the flow of "free" money appears to be what's got them into the mess, that might not be a bad thing), and as for getting another mortgage any time soon, forget it. Also if they are flat broke, why on gods green earth would they consider moving to London?! They may get a roof over their heads, but it's one of the most expensive places to live in the country. Sorry if the above sounds harsh, but I have zero sympathy for those that have built up a life based on credit and then turn to others when it catches up with them. Sell the cars and get one banger that will do the job. Sell the tv's, cancel sky, take the kids for walks at the weekends spotting animals or something , the kids will still have fun, and it's free. They need to sit down, write down the total they get in each month, and the total they spend each month. Then start crossing out things on the spend side until the total is smaller than the income side, and by a decent ammount in order to cover for a rainy day. If they can't/won't do that, then don't bother trying to help. They clearly aren't willing to help themselves, or their children. -
Price of some tv's you wouldnt think so

Without next generation internet (infinity/cable etc) then true smart tv's will be all but useless to most homes in the UK imho. They will still use the current lcd/plasma/led lit technology for now too. Next stage in terms of picture technology I believe will be super high res and also greater on board recording for TV's

Currently doing some research into large format TV for the living room - I was hoping to get a 60-65 LED, as they are pretty lightweight for their size, and hanging on the wall would be easier. However my preferred choice of Samsung LEDTV only goes to 55". 60 or larger and it appears that Panasonic plasma have the best reputation for picture quality - but they seem incredibly weighty for hanging on a wall. Whether its 3d or not does not bother me that much, more than a quality picture. I shall be re-measuring to see if a 55" is appropriate for the area, if so then a Samsung it will be for me from what Ive sen in person. If not then probably a panny plasma - unles anyone knows of anything more suitable? will read this thread with interest
