Jus think of how much cheaper it would have been to educate middle lae hogs by handing out fines, then it is to widen the motorways to 4 lanes. People now sit in lanes 2 and 3

Ive got sky, but not sky sports. I certainly wont be paying for sky sports just to watch F1. Its a bloody joke for the UK viewers. If its online, then Ill just watch it on that on the tv. The sell out to sky may make more money for F1, but the sponsors wont be getting their adverts into the faces of as many viewers. It will be interesting to se if any of the sponsors take issue with the reduced viewing figures once the switch happens.

If they are like others I know in the energy sector then they will be nowhere near 2-3% - try 15-20. Wholesale gas price to the suppliers is 55p/therm today for the month of August - thats 1.87p/KWh. For January its nearer 2.4p/kwh. Have a look at what your price per KWh for gas at home and see if you can spot a difference. Ill bet its just a tad more than 2-3% higher than 1.87p/Kwh next month....

Businesses will make this sort of money when they get to a certain size. Its all relative. Microsofts profits for a quarter are nearer £40m per day. If you break the profits down to £ per head employed, then they arent vastly superior to many small businesses in that regard EDIT - with over 18,000 Million bbls of proven reserves (18 Trillion I believe that is) - at a low estimate profit of just £10 per barrel than you are looking at a company with over 180 Trillion in profit to come in. Thats just from the oil interests. Factor in other activities as per above and its just a monster company. There will be figures banded round in their boardroom that need to be printed in landscape just to fit on the paper.

Would you buy one? (Updates with pics page 2)

You may make more selling the plans themselves as individual items, along with a parts list. People can then raid their current (and probably for those interested in this, extensive) existing technic lego sets, work out which bits they have and which bits they need. The whole project could then work out much cheaper for them. Its then up to them to decide if they want to pursue the project and buy the rest of the bits they need. By which time you already have your £9.99 for the plans, so what do you care if they actually build it or not. Would I fork out £200 for a lego gun. Probably not. Would I pay a tenner for the plans, or do a "three for two" and buy the plans to all three for £20. Yes I probably would. As long as it gave me a parts list for each gun, and in the three pack a parts list that would enable me to build any of the guns. Then I can see what bits I already have, what bits I need and whichever gun I need the least bits for, I can start with that. Also kids (and parents) that dont have £200 lying around can still get the plans and then add various lists of bits they want to christmas/birthday lists etc etc.. Is this something that can legally be done too? I know they arent exact replicas, but they could still be dangerous, so age restrictions would need to be considered - and also are lego themselves ok with people selling kits to make fake firearms from their product? I'd research that before jumping in. Oh and if it makes you a fortune, then expect your mate to be knocking on the door with a letter from a lawyer too. -
I don't quite agree with that analogy, drugs can inspire people to make good art/music, Yellow Submarine springs to mind or anything by Dali! Having a sports car doesn't make you a better driver. Didn't say it made someone a better driver, just that going faster comes with the territory of having a sports car. Drugs can also kill people, destroy lives of countless others not directly taking them, be the cause of violent crime, thefts, murder and corruption in many countries around the world. But all of that is perfectly acceptable if you are an "artist" ? Use of drugs should never be acceptable, regardless of whether its a homeless junkie in a flat somewhere or a multimillionaire pop star in LA.
-
So that makes it acceptable? Maybe we can all use that if we get a speeding ticket? We have sports cars, so going a bit fast comes with the territory. Not arguing with you personally, but the fact that many of us just see it as "normal" for artists to be on drugs is enough evidence that something is seriously wrong.
-
Doesn't the fact that we struggle to name 10 bands/artists that have no involvement with drugs just prove the point that something drastic should be done? Ill have a go though... just flicking through the current top 40 and seeing who may/may not have, there seems to be a handfull that may be drug free. Then there are other bands, mostly played on Radio 2 or Clasical radio that wont have Im sure. Cliff Richard? 1. Adele 2. The wanted 3. Beyonce ?? not sure. 4. Nicole Sherzinger 5. Cheryl Cole 6. Rihanna

Then spend the tax money producing adverts telling you not to do it in the first place. Just like smoking Dont smoke - its bad for you. (but please continue to do so as we want the tax).

All cleared up Vik Apologies for any confusion. I suppose another question would be, how many more people like Amy Winehouse do the public need to see wither and die, before something similar to my logic is implemented by a government? It seems to be the way that authorities dont deal with a problem my targetting specific offenders or problems, but impose some wide sweeping legislation that is designed to catch all, invariably causing a whole new mess in the process.
-
No - you've likened class A drug use, to speeding. I stated that people involved in class A drugs should be stripped of their positions, and you expanded that to all crimes being given the same punishment, not all offenders, My logic does not involve giving all crimes the same punishment, my logic gives all offenders the same punishment for the same crime. Not all crimes the same punishment. You have completely misrepresented my point. In this era of equal rights and all - why should a 100m Hurdles runer loose their job for doing class A, yet a pop star get to keep their records on the shelves? I'd expect 3 points and a fine for speeding to be handed to a teacher or an MP or a pop star. Same crime, same punishment. Athlete drug use = career over, so why not the same punishment for a pop star?
-
Thats stretching it a bit. Its in refference to drug use. A speeding athlete doesnt get banned from the sport, a sexualy adventurous footballer doesnt get banned from playing. When it comes to Class A drug use, its a whole different matter. Just like there are differing forms of punishment for different crimes. Hows about this. When is it ok for a person to continue in their job while being addicted to crack cocaine? Would it be ok for a police officer to conitue in their duties if they were a drug addict? A Judge? MP? Teacher? Airline Pilot? Bus Driver? Taxi Driver? Some of the above are in positions of authority, and some aren't. Is it acceptable/safe for any of them to continue performing those duties in society when addicted to crack? Why is it acceptable for a singer or film star? Is it because they aren't doing any harm, or cant harm others by doing it? Neither can the athlete/footballer - but their gravy train ends if they get involved in that stuff. Perhaps thats why the number of high level sportspeople involved in coke is substantially less than those in the music and film industry.
-
Why is it the same? Films depicting violence/drug use, arent illegal. Actual violence/drug use is. Why was she able to be free at home to OD in the first place? Look at Blake Fieldr whatever his name is, and Pete Doherty. Why the hell are they still free, and still able to be out there making money from music when they are doing Class A drugs? If you have to remove 90% of the music on the shelves because the artists are spending the proceeds on drugs, then thats fine by me. Whatever minority of people see using drugs as a good thing after seeing their favourite artists/bands do it, will be far outweighed by the number that will get the message that if you do drugs, you will fail if they had their work removed from sale. If an athlete gets caught with illegal drugs in their system, they can get a lifetime ban from the sport, and therefor lose their career. Why should singers be treated any differently?
-
I actually think that any artist/band that has any involvement with drugs should immediatley have their records removed from sale, removed from all radio playlists and be barred from appearing at any concerts or shows by law. I bet the producers would take a tougher line with their artists if that were the case. It may concentrate the mind of the artists or their management in getting the problem resolved sharpish. It would also stop glamourising drugs and providing a **** poor example to children.

I was lucky to get that, we were walking round a village, and I spotted him just walking along the clothes line. God knows where he was going, but it looked so strange at the time I rushed to get it before he legged it. Thats how it came out of the camera, I dont know how to photoshop

Mine arent as good as many in this thread, but some of my favourite shots are from the first time I ever used my D80 some years ago in Kenya.

RMP are on the march. AIM now at 33p and above. Just bloody annoying that I hold mine in the ASX, which where RMP has a halt on trading for a while. Stuck at $0.38 - when it should be nearer $0.48! Im wanting to see if I can switch these over to AIM listed shares, without having to do a sell on ASX and buy back on AIM. I think TDW let you transfer for a fee and you dont need to worry about selling and then buying back in. RRL seem to be recovering a bit too (though still well down). Building in anticipation of upcoming news I think. Sound seem to be dragging their heels a bit.

Thats it though, I get that buzz from the Z. I love it, its great and it has that emotional box ticked. The GTR just doesnt tick it. Weird, but true I would like to know what its like to have what I believe is about the pinacle of engineering (with the exception of Mclaren or even Veyron money), but I dont "want" for one.
-
Thats exactly it. Its just the same with the Mclaren Mp12-4c. Its an incredibly capable car, its performance for the money is phenomenal. But I agree with what Clarkson said, its just missing something. It just doesnt tick that emotional box for some reason. I saw a Jaguar XJ220 at a meet recently, and although it would be trounced by many more modern sports cars, and blitzed by the GT-R. It was still just a great car to behold, even for someone who has a beef with Jaguar, I found myself imagining owning one, its an icon, rare and brilliant.
-
I know whats being said. I'd love a GTR, but I wouldnt get rid of the fezza for one. Sure the GTR would whoop the 430 on a track, even on the public roads and twisties the GTR would show the 430 a clean pair of heels, and if thats all you want from a car in that budget, then fine the GTR has very little if any competition. The GTR has a better lap time than the LP640 - which is more than double the price, but Id have the LP640 in a heartbeat. Its just bonkers, not the fastest car on the planet, but it emobodies a supercar for me. Its the car I would upgrade to from the 430 if I had the option, however Im in the position where its a second car. Now, if I were to reduce to one car that needed the practicality of a boot, some extra seats that may come in semi useful, and there was no option of having a "weekend" car - then the GTR would take some beating - in fact it would be the car I had.

[SOLD] Top quality GTR for sale. Part ex for a 350
Chesterfield replied to 323ian's topic in For Sale
Look you jumping to conclusions and flexing the admin muscles! Because the posts were over a month apart this means that i no longer want the original car?? Would it have been a crime to come onto this forum which is after all a nissan owners club and sell another form of performance Nissan? Yes if the right 350 is available i would still be very interested. Flexing the admin muscles would be removing the thread, banning IP addresses and deleting all trace of the account. What I did was post my assumptions based on the posting history. Posts a month apart on the for sale thread only suggested to me that interest in the 350/370 was a bit thin on the ground otherwise there may have been contributions in other threads, maybe even a wanted thread The lack of either just contributed to my assumption. As for coming onto a forum just to use it to sell, then yes it is something we frown on. The only funding this site gets asside from some very kind donations is from traders who pay to sell goods, including car dealers - so people jumping on and selling cars then clearing off again isnt something we like. Hopefully you will find a 350 that tickles your fancy What sort of spec/price are you looking for? -
Mrs Chesterfield has just said that we can get rid of the Altea, and the Zed and get a GTR I do however fee thats still going to leave me trying to find a few quid down the back of the sofa What an awsome car though - and the Jag for all my dislike of them has an interior that looks brilliant imho. They should just stick with that style, get rid of the old man image and move on. The train car however is great TV - even if I do say so myself Choo Choo!

I only wanted to build a garage! Update p2 O Yes
Chesterfield replied to Keyser's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Weve recent applied for planning permission, and knowing the neighbours have been contacted I went round and asked the one towards which the house is proposed to be extended if they want to come round and see where its planned to go. The council dont send them copies of plans with the letter - so unless they get to see exactly whats planned, they may be put off. I got the architects plans out and let her have a look at what was planned, then walked round outside showing her exactly where it would go - she has quite a small garden, but it has a massive tree in it. the canopy covers her entire garden and almost half of the house next doors. Some existing trees on our plot (self planted and without preservations) which restric light even further from her garden, would be coming out as part of our plans - so she seemed quite happy with that. Im sure the council will find something wrong though and find a reason to reject it. -

Considering all posts have been related to selling this GTR, and the last two were to bump this thread and confirm it is now sold, and they were over a month apart - Im going to go out on a limb and suggest not Chris.
