He may have had faster pace, but there was no way Hamilton was getting all the way past Button and still make the corner by the time they got to the end of the straight. So playing Devils advocate I would ask, whats Button supposed to do, take his foot off the throttle and let Hamilton pass him? Hamilton had barely got his front wheels past Buttons rear axle by the time it came to positioning for the turn. Lewis would hve been out on the wet at the corner without a prayer of making it round if Button had seen him and given the space. Lewis was master of his own downfall in that race again. Much as I think he is a great driver and great for the sport, sometimes his moves seem a bit more appropriate for the gokart track and not an F1 circuit.

Japspeed drift Subaru stolen from Santa pod
Chesterfield replied to Michael robinson's topic in Off Topic Discussion
But as all the cameras are geared for ANPR to catch the naughty speeders, this wouldn't get spotted. The only chance would have been a traffic cop or unmarked car being around at the time. Hope it gets found, but sadly it will no doubt be either stripped or in the process of being stripped by now. If there are recorded serial numbers for some of the parts, hopefully this will assist in tracking down the scum that nicked it. -
Im with Husky, in that most other American cars are about twice the size, two tonnes heavier and made of pig iron. The odds are stacked that the zed will come off worse in an accident with any other vehicle over there. Its no surprise that 8 of the top ten safest cars are "SUV's". I wonder how much safer 18 wheelers are than SUV's? And how much safer Amtrack Locomotives are than 18 wheelers. A report into pedestrians/cyclists killed by the differing type of vehicles would be interesting. Given the choice, Id rather be hit by a Zed at 20 than a Hummer.

Also, it's worth noting that one of the possible reasons for a crash occurring is actually made worse when people try to refresh/access the site continually during am outage. In laymans terms, the constant requests to the forum actually back up behind a temporarily slow service, meaning that it compounds the problem. If you notice an outage and after a single refresh it is still not up, give it 15 minutes, if still not up try in another 15. That may actually help speed up the site coming back online, if indeed one of the possible problems is what we believe it to be.

We have recently identified several possible changes to improve the situation, but they rely on an administrator (namely me), being available to work on the site for a couple of hours or so without interruption. Sadly at the moment I haven't been able to find that length of time to apply these recently identified (last couple of weeks) possible fixes. Hopefully we should be able to implement these soon. In the meanwhile any specific information would really help. If you experience a crash or lockout, please try and record the time & date, and if you were performing any specific task at the time. Posting, reading a particular section etc etc. The more info we can get, the easier it is to try and pinpoint from the logs exactly what caused it.

My Daughters latest victim, "Ferarri"

I am just waiting patiently (or rather impatiently) for the day when I spot one of these out and about on the roads. -
Somehow manage to bag my Mrs a Test Drive in an R8
Chesterfield replied to MadMac's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I got an invit to test drive the new Continental GT Supersport, and bagged the mrs a test drive in that. Then subsequently arrived a day late to the weekend event, having not read my leter from the dealers correctly. That did not go down well. -
I believe Im also right in saying the survey is for cars registered between January 08 and December 09 - so it wouldnt have included that many XF's to be fair. But would have included a fair number of X types - so the later versions of those must be the ones to go for by that logic The XF incidentlay got a whopping 2 stars for mechanical reliability and 2 stars for exterior quality - both of which cover my experience with the XF's we bought. They obviously didnt get anyone completing the survey who bought a car from hatfields, as miraculously they got 5 stars for dealer service. Some of them must be doing something right! I must have just picked a bad apple dealer. The XKR however I wouldnt put in the same boat as JLR's "mass produced" rep mobiles like my XF - they will all be given an extra quarter tun on the screwdriver I think

I think Im right in saying that the finances of Jaguar are a lot better now under TATA ownership than they were under previous owners. Im sure there was a news article stating how much better the profits were now.
-
Indeed, but as per the comments that I got, and you have got now - the vast majority of current Jag owners are the flat cap brigade that wont have a bad word said about them ever, the jaguar forums are testemant to that. We can post about how soft the paint is on Nissans, how plasticy the interior is all day long on here - no issues. Try mentioning something similar on the Jag forums and your comments and account will be deleted. It is truly bonkers. Yep - you will find videos of ferraris on fire, lambos on fire, veyrons in ditches, all sorts. Its quite a sight to see something like that go spectacularly wrong, and to be fair the volumes they produce compared to the number of incidents is quite worrying. Not many videos about relating to the exhaust bracket recall on a Seat Altea - but thats not as interesting is it?
-
Do you know Jag dont give cars to testers/reviewers that have gone through the same process as normal customers cars, but instead give them ones that have been subject to much more scrutiny? You are also dealing with a set of customers that for the majority have jaguar written through them like a stick of rock and will not say a bad word about them even if the wheels dropped off. See the jaguar forums for example...

£230 increase on insurance if i go stainless...
Chesterfield replied to bigmike20vt's topic in Exhaust
Direct line absolutely took the pish with the renewal of our van insurance recently. We (my brother and I) only bought the thing so we had a decent practical vehicle for all those crap jobs you dont want to/cant use a normal car for. Its worth about £1500 and is a shed of a transit van, that does about 2000 miles a year, if that. Only have 2 years no claims on that car, and I cant use no claims from another on a multicar as they dont do multicar on "commercial" vehicles, even though its a glorified wheelbarrow and not used for commercial purposes what so ever. Direct line wanted £827 for renewal, even dropping it to TP F&T, and upping the excess to £400 they still quoted £785! Managed to get £480 by shopping around. Insurance companies as a whole are starting to take the pish now with prices. They know that people are aware prices are going up, there has been media hype about prices going up, and now they are playing on it, raising prices by stupid ammounts and watching a whole heap of people just think thats the "norm" after all they have heard in the media. One look at their P&L accounts and the story is completely different - they are having peoples pants down, and they damn well know it. So far this year by shopping around enough, Ive paid less this year than last, maybe I was robbed last year though instead -
Heres one that made me chuckle toward the end of a pointless journey the other day. I know its in bad taste, but still, I had to chortle a bit.

Bagged some more at 15.7p. Missed the day when they went below 15, but still, those bought at 15.7 are now at least slightly offsetting the ones bought at 24p Hopefully when RMP list on AIM they may start to go a bit bonkers. May even get some more on any dips now and just sell them after the first week or so on Aim. If there isnt any new issues when listing on Aim, the clamber to get some from many of the RRL holders that dont trade on ASX presently, but still want into RMP may push it higher just on pure desire to buy.

But in answer to your question, its all personal choice. Lambo doors can look good on a Zed if matced with equaly dramatic styling/modification. (see madmarkys) Those doors on a standard car would probably be a bit daft imho.
-
Here you go. Im guessing backed up to the wall pointing in the direction of the transit van (last 100 yards of the 30 zone). http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sourc ... 4,,0,17.31 I didnt notice it either, so Ill probably get a ticket too
-
Yup - they will have the same targets as any other area, and due to the area being all but dead for about six months of the year, they make up their targets for the year by hammering the summer months. Backing a van up to a wall/hedge and effectively hiding the "safety" vehicle. Positioning a "safety" vehicle on the exit to a 30 zone specifically designed to cath people who go just over the limit as they accellerate into a national speed limit zone, just flys in the face of the entire reason that we are told these devices exist. To promote and ensure safety on our roads. As John says, this specific camera would have had ZERO effect on slowing cars down who may have been doing 40 in the middle of the 30 zone, which being in the centre of the pedestrian zone would be far more dangerous. This camera was positioned specifically to meet targets and generate revenue, and there is absolutely no way what so ever that its position can be justified in the name of safety. Its about time specific and clear rules were drawn up for the positioning of these, and the public could take their own legal action if the cameras do not meet with these requirements. Its just like positioning speed cameras painted bright yellow, and then letting trees grow behind them to hide them. The police know full well what they are doing and they dont seem to give a stuff what they do to the relationship with or perception of the public. Ive also recalculated the revenue they would lose in Wales if our club decided not to visit any more because of this moronic use of speed cameras. Room was about £150 for three nights, now although not everyone stays for three, some only stay one, and others two, so lets have an average of two nights. Thats £100 - say two people per room and average 80 people for the two days, thats £4000 in hotel rooms. Food and drink - carvery, £14 per person including the tip x 80, BBQ £500 for the group, drinks at the bar, say £20 per person over the weekend x 100 people, fuel that was purchased - even just £50 per car at 30 cars.. Rooms: £4000 Carvery £1120 BBQ: £500 Drinks: £2000 Fuel: £1500 Plus other items such as shopping on the Saturday, garden centre purchases, trade to local dent guy etc - A safe £1000 across the whole group of people. Total: £10,120 per weekend. Two weekends a year - thats over £20,000 in revenue to Welsh companies and traders. If they served everyone in our party with a £60 FPN, they would generat £3000 in revenue and over two years remove over £40,000 in revenue for local businesses. If I owned the hotel or restaurant our group stops at, I'd be complaining as loud and publicly as I could about how motorists are treated in Wales.
-
Id advise the tourist board that due to the placement of cameras like this. Hidden, purely to generate cash from visitors - they will be jeapordising the visiting of over 100 people twice a year. If you add up the carvery, BBQ, hotel costs, drinks and shopping, we are taking in excess of £10k per year into those villages from our car club alone. Carry on targetting motorists like this and I for one will happily keep my portion of that £10k in England or Scotland.

yep. Over a 7 month period Im at 8.8GB, so 1.25GB per month. at some providers 80p per MB (ridiculous rip off rates which cant be justified ever I may add), that would be £200 per month for the extra 250mb. others have 4p per mb which is then only £10, but still its an extra tenner a month for what is a tiny ammount of data.
-
Still got mine around somewhere. It was a truly great phone for its day. Still searching for a decent data usage contract with any provider, but its not looking good.
-
Found it. Orange allow you to add the iphone for £8 per month per user on a business plan including unlimited mobile internet and WiFi. They dont appear to have the option to add unlimited mobile internet and wifi to any other phone though. Hmph.
-
Well - I could have sworn that I found unlimited data on Orange yesterday, but ill be buggered if I can find it today. Anyone know of any network offering unlimited data? It seems highly coincidental that networks start to remove unlimited data usage options (even with say a 3gb fair usage) just as the world of mobile media starts to explode. The rates they charge for data are just bloody stupid. Using GPRS for data is no more expensive than voice calls - it just splits down the data channel when it reached orange equipment, just like the data of their broadband offerings for home - where 20GB is no problem. Methinks they are gearing up to take the absolute pish when more and more users smash through the pathetic 500mb limits.
-
Contract will be ending July, so I need to start doing my research now. May take the opportunity to wander round the shops this weekend and have a look what the various phones are like.
