As it appears the majority have no preference, and those that do have a preference want to opt for May, in order to have the two events somewhat seperated - why not stick a flag in the ground now and say first week of May?

This is one issue that gets my blood boiling. In fact Ill probably need a new keyboard if I type like this for long. This quote specificaly really gets on my threpenny bits.... Now then... The DVLA auction certain plates - the ones they know will generate a lot of revenue. CHR1S for example was around £100k I believe. The DVLA know damned well what that spells, they know damned well that someone is going to pay through the nose for it, and they also know damned well that it wil be spaced exactly as Ive just typed it. So, when the person does space it in that manner, the police can thn report them to the DVLA to have the mark taken away. Sounds like a money making racket to me. If the plates are not to be mis spaced, then why are the DVLA knowingly selling plates for higher prices that form words when spaced incorrectly or altered witht he use of screws etc. As the licensing body, the DVLA are by their very actions of pricing plates in this manner, encouraging and some may even say "promoting" criminal activity. If I were in the position where the police ever applied to the DVLA to have my mark withdrawn (unlikely as both mine are now legal), both the DVLA and the police would find themselves on the end of a court case based around the above, as in my book it is clear evidence of entrapment, conspiracy (between the DVLA and the police) to extract monies from the public, and conspiracy to commit crime by the DVLA. Id probably lose, as there would be no way either the DVLA or police could kiss goodbye to their repsective money earners from these private plate sales, but I would have a damned good go.

my new website for engaged couples to use....
Chesterfield replied to wanta350's topic in Off Topic Discussion
What a good idea! Going through the arrangements for our wedding at the moment, and sorting out some of the final arrangements right now, I know just what a pain in the backside it can be (or should I rephrase, Tracy and myself know what a pain it can be). A site like this once it starts to gain momentum could help an awful lot of people out. -
Thats not quite true is it? I would of came on the Oct run and there was only 12 people there.................. I understand that, but if we allowed it then becuase the numbers were low enough for it not to make a difference, do we allow it when/if we have 30 Zeds? At what point do we draw the line, and do we draw the line based on numbers of Z's or numbers of cars? If its on number of cars then when another Z joins the list - who do we bump off the non Z list? Its a nightmare. Besides although there are a great number of friends made on this forum and for many of us the site has trangressed beyond the car itself - the site is still a 350Z site, and its my peronal beleif that the organised drives should remain for the Z's only. Its another story for the social meets where the aim is a night out on the booze or a meal etc, thats when we see the social aspect of the site at work.

Im more than happy with whatever date the Wales run is, I dont believe it HAS to be April, its just always been that month. I can see your point regarding it falling in the same month as Donny and perhaps moving to May would be peoples prefferences. What do other people think on the date? As regards who attends, Its open to members of the club we have here, but I am sure other 350z owners are more than welcome to join us all, they will probably want to join up here before the day itself anyway just to contribute to the chat about the day on the forum, and also to receive the directions, maps, instructions and contact details etc. We have refrained from opening the day up to non 350z drivers, and sadly this does include ex forum members. The reasons for this decision are that should we allow ex owners in their non 350z cars, and other "fans" in whatever cars they drive, we would be in danger of having massive numbers of attendees. Although its nice to be a very popular club, when organising dives such as this, (which Beavis, Jacko and others have done a fantastic job of) the higher the numbers the more work involved, and we also run the risk of becoming a nuisance to the locals of whatever town we visit. It could end up becoming more of a "cruise" with little or no control over ho turns up, and the actions those people undertake all reflect on our image as a club. We havent even chosen a date or emailed the members, and there are already in excess of 20 people down for Wales. At this stage last year we had about 10 or so names on the list. It is the members club though, and if the month of April is not preffered by the masses, then it can of course be changed. I would suggest we guage opinion on a couple of dates and go with the result. Hows about a poll Sunday 27th April or Sunday 11th May?

Great news!!! (for me anyway) thanks Nissan

Is this dealer Lambs by any chance? They were fairly good last time I used them, but the car park is tiny, which means if you leave your car for a service, when you come back you are likely to find it wedged between two other customer cars in the tightest space known to man. Its only pot luck that I got to my car before the owners of the other two got to theirs, or I would have had a lovely pair of matching door dents along with the service Im sure of it. -
Proudly announcing the 350z-uk 2008 Calendar

Mine have arrived Martin - one on the office wall now! Thanks again! -
I was hanging my nose over a Movado while on holiday in the states over new year. The new year sale prices on them in the states made them about half the UK price. I didnt bother in the end as although I'd like one, I cant really justify an expensive watch, as Im a bugger for scratching them or forgetting to take them off when doing any sort of DIY and damaging them - so I stick with Fossil, and as per usual when I go to Vegas, bought another one of those (which although only £35 in the US, are still half UK price) They ar waterproof so I can swim in them and dont cost the earth so dont cause great upset if I damage them.

Have to agree with your summary of that dealer in Birmingham Sarnie. They offered myself and Tracy test drives on the day, though Tracy had not got her license with her so we declined. Left our details for contact toward the end of January. They have made contact, offered test drives, sent over stock lists, and been thoroughly professional since our initial chat with them the day after our night out in Birmingham. Ill certainly be back there as soon as our wedding is out of the way in July, as they are incredibly pleasant to deal with.

I seem to have found myself addicted to this game too. Level 45 and counting now...

Im all for the ANPR system being used to catch folk, and I presume thats why this plate got stopped. Though in my experience the un taxed, uninsured motors stopped in the TV shows are almost invariably 1989 Vauhall Astras with bits dropping off, or 1992 ford mondeos with different coloured doors and a rattling exhaust.

You got away lightly. Derbyshire Constabulary, and particularly those in and around Chestrfield appear to have little else to do but hand out fixed penalty notices for slightly iffy number plates. Ive been done twice for differing plates on cars, and both were even more ligible than yours. As long as it is legible by the ANPR system then you should be fine - though I doubt even that will be good enough for the feds in our neck of the woods. Lets not worry about the level of antisocial behaviour taking place in Chesterfield, and the ludicrous level of vandalism of public property, as long as your number plate is corrected, I feel my tax pennies have not gone to waste. Just take it on the chin, get the plate changed to something that is closer to the law, and fingers crossed the boys in blue in Chesterfield come up with something a little more productive to do. The problem is the stats in Derbyshire - detecting your crime and issuing you with the notice to correct is now recorded as "crime detected - crime resolved". Whereas "trying" to find the culpits of the smashed car windows or vandalised bus shelters, doesnt acheive their targets.
-
Yes - the issue is bandwidth, however a modification to the media section allowing for people to have a gallery with the actual images hosted in photobucket or similar could work. There may be fair bit of coding involved, Ill have to take a look when I have some time.

+1 The car is in right hand drive in Japan, and it costs £36k apparently. The only reason the grey import market may be so hot on these is because of the delay of over a year and price hike of about £20,000 for us lucky Brits.

Ive never been impressed with my local BMW dealer. They even once said to me a little while ago when looking for two company motors, "we dont need to sell you the car, the car sells itself" They were correct in some respects..... they didnt sell me one. I havent even bothered visiting them asking for a test of the M6, as I know what the likely answer would be. Which is surprising, as garages selling other marques have been more than willing to arrange test drives, some even offering them there and then, but we declined that particular one as Tracy hadn't got her license with her (and I want her to test them as well) On the basis of what you have said I may have to pop along and see what they say now.

After getting this far honestly, I decided to to a bit of research on the net as to how many levels there are, and also how the high scores can be into the hundreds on millions! Turns out there is a cheat on the game where you can drag a ball quickly off the bottom of the screen wait five seconds and you get 48% instantly. Do it again and you complete the level. On the later levels this gets you 15,000+ points bonus, and I can asume the more you do it, the higher the bonus for finishing in time. Still its going to take a few hours to even cheat your way to 200+ million. So Ive declared at 150,000 ish. Cant be bothered any more.
-
Yup - there is certainly a tactic which appears to work, although I cut it fine one one level when I wasnt paying attention. Now a bit further, but have to sort some more work out now.
-
Im considering declaring - as in between phone calls and work Ive got this far.....

OK somebody owes me part of my afternoon back. Im not done yet - just got it on pause while I have some lunch.

No wonder he's fuming, Its certainly got his pending £50M lawsuit against Andrew morton and the publisher St Martins Press holed perilously close to the waterline. -
Guys, The kind people at Total Nissan have asked us to provide articles for consideration in their publication. This includes the "readers cars" style articles, which would need to include 6-8 hi-res and varied images of their cars(minimum 0.5 meg) 600-800 words on the history of their car; why they chose this particular model, where they bought the car, what work they’ve had done and by who, what work they intend to carry out in the future and who will be doing this work as well as some comments on the general ownership. If you have already written something along these lines and sent it off to magazines for consideration in publications, please can you send these to us also. We can forward on to the people at Total Nissan. In order for consideration in the first publication, we would need any articles by latest tomorrow evening. (yes I know thats a rush but thats partly my fault). Not to suggest that any articles sent after this date would not be considered, just not for the first publication thats all. So, if you have any articles, or can come up with one ASAP, send them to accounts@350z-uk.com as soon as possible. Please use this thread to discuss this, and advise if you send an article - so we can check that it has arrived in our inbox. Please accept my appologies for the short timescales for consideration in the first issue, and we look forward to receiving any contributions that our members would wish to put forward. Regards, Chris, 350z-uk.com team.

We normaly have Two Wales Drives per year, one in or around April time, and another September time. I dont think there is a specific reason for it being in April, othe than its always been that way. If the majority thought May was better then May it would be I suppose. Beavis?
