  1. Welcome to the club, glad you found us Hope you enjoy the community. Good luck with restoring your Z to glory, and Ill bet you'll be out listening to the new exhaust note once it arrives - heres hoping the weather stays reasonably good for you!
  2. If its got some larger chunks of mud/grime attached I would use a gentle hose first to ensure the jet doesnt push any grit into and along the paint leaving you with some added extra go faster stripes. I personaly use my jetwash from a distance, but only for either rinsing, or put it on the no power setting so it just acts as a hose. Im no detailing guru though, and Im sure there will be many of the two bucket system users that can offer advice.
  3. If the car is an auto, then it may just have had the manual rear bumper put on. The rear isnt my particular cup of tea, but each to their own - the front looks nice and smooth though, perhaps with the nissan badge smoothed out on the front it would make the lines look even better on the front?
  4. Ash - I only have experience of purchasing and dealing with snagging on a new build once. It is highly likely that the builder will not be overly interested in solving your snagging list, afterall they have the money now (I presume), so why bother? The house I have experience of was on a development where the builders were still on site completing other developments, if this is the same for yourself then there are probably two ways forward before instigating legal action. The first is to make yourself a nuisance at the site/sales office until someone takes note - proceed with your complaints progressively further up the ladder until someone gets a rollocking. This is the path I chose, eventually having the regional manager for the housebuilder rollock the local site manager. Which resulted in a painter, plasterer, plumber and electrician turning up bright and breezy at 9am the next morning. This was after complaining for about 4 weeks though. The second option would be to get chatting to the local builders on site, and see if they fancy earning a few beer tokens during their lunch or after work by taking care of the slight snags in your house on the quiet. Thats the limit of my experience on the matter, as the snags I needed sorting were all taken care of using one or both of the above methods. Hope that helps
  5. Thats certainly going to be one rare car in the UK!!
  6. Yes we are allowed to talk about other cars on this 350Z website - which people do. What we dont see however is countless threads discusing in the same non Z car over and over and over and over and over and over. We have occasional threads from people that have bought BMW's, Porsches, Monaros and a whole host of other marques, what we dont see is 8 pages of threads thrown back when you search for any of those marques within the forum. Its a Z forum, and whilst of course we discuss other marques, there are certain threads that would be much better placed on a specific forum for lamborghinis.
  7. Ahh but then these type of threads just wouldn't get the attention, which is what life is all about.
  8. Can we draw a line under this now. I think its been done to death hasnt it.
  9. Isn't this the entire point of this threads very existence summed up?
  10. Blody ell its massive if thats a CD on the top end of it. Do you type by walking on it?
  11. I would advise being very careful with Accident Exchange hire agreements, they do appear to be a bone of contention with some insurers, as documented in various locations on the net. There are also stories of one customer being landed with a £30k bill themselves because the other parties insurer refused to accept the costs for hire at those rates.. Check the small print twice and be careful.
  12. If the paint is anything like the ultra yellow paint on a Zed, then matching it will prove to be a pain in the backside. Be prepared to be without it for a while longer if they have any issues matching it.
  13. Concur - office 2003 is what we use in the office, 2007 is just over bloated and restyled in the cartoon like feel of win xp for no particular reason. Liam, just a word of caution, if you are planning on using any software that is not quite legit for business use, you may want to check out the fines and restrictions that can be imposed on a business found to be using such software, and consider whether its worse the risk. If you buy a cheap hard drive, you can buy the oem version. The oem version of office 2007 is about £145 ex vat. Whereas the full retail package is nearer £300. Either way, the fines that could be imposed if a business were found to be using dodgy software would far outweigh the cost of the software itself.
  14. The usual bose left speaker problem with the Z is supposed to be a fulty pickup of the laser on the CD head unit. If its happening on radio and on CD then it may point to faulty connection rather than the usual bose problem.
  15. Gorgeous cars, they are certainly not old mans cars the vantage. They exude class while still being a brash sports car.
  16. It depends on how much you think it will cost to replace the TV if something goes horribly wrong after a year. Extended warranties (and even manufacturers warranty) will probably not cover dropped/dead pixels on an LCD either. Remember also that contrast ratios quoted on LCD screens are more often than not "dynamic". This contrast ratio is NOT to be compared with Plasma contrast ratios, as they are calculated in a different way. Dynamic ratios are calculated by measuring the darkest black when the LCD backlight is on low, and the brightest white when the LCD backlight is on high. LCDs acheive an artificially high contrast ratio by varying the intensity of the backlight to acheive the variation. This can cause issues when a picture has both dark and light areas, as the screen has to decide which level to set the backlight at in order to acheive the best. you can read more about how this works here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrast_ratio There is no specific formula on how to compare a static to dynamic ratio, as it depends on how much the light can be varied on the LCD backlight. With newer LCD's its the variation of the backlight that increases the contrast considerably - I would divide the modern LCDs ratio by 5 or so to get the true static contrast ratio that can be compared to a plasma.
  17. I dont care what anyone says, and whatever the car is, two blokes in a convertible does NOT scream hetrosexual. Even a Lambo convertible suffers from that sadly. Although I think the convertible Gallardo is nice, I would stick with the coupe for that reason.
  18. Do your parents want to adopt a house trained 29 year old northerner?
  19. Nah, if he sets the resolution high on that 24" screen, there will be more room to type before scrolling starts.... They will just get longer. Nice computer. Ive never been tempted by a Mac but I am impressed from what Ive seen, they seem to just fly compared to PC's held back by Microsofts operating systems. Cant wait until Monday myself either as hopefully the car will be back from the bodyshop . It appears they are being perfectionists in matching the colour (which from the 20+ test cards they have done already, doesnt appear to be easy).
  20. Well done Liam, Im sure it will be a day remembered for a long time.. Would you like it resetting to zero now so you can do it all over again?
  21. I think some kits look nice without a rear spoiler, but some dont. That one above has the standard lip spoiler at the back by the looks of it. I think without anything it looks unfinished. When I finally get mine back Ill be able to make an in the flesh decision of whether it needs an extra spoiler on the back. I do think the Nismo can look a bit OTT in some cases - its the big fat block at the bottom of it that makes me think that. Ive seen some installations where the bottom section of the spoiler has been cut off which looks nice, but it does lose a lot of the strength that way and I wouldnt be confident of shutting the boot with the spoiler if that was the case.
  22. Ill still ask for it again you know when I get round to ordering.
  23. Thats the one from spoilerdepot I think. Will fit over the top of the existing spoiler without problems. I wanted to have one fitted at the same time as the rest of my kit, but I hadn't placed an order before a little bump presented me with the perfect timing to have the kit fitted at the same time as a new bumper. Will certainly be adding one of these to the car if it doesnt look quite right when I get it back from the bodyshop (this week hopefully, they've had it a month!)
