  1. To be fair the winter/late summer meet for wales has always been a lower turnout than the spring/early summer drive. Im sure in time as people star to read the posts and reviews of previous wales drives the turnout will only grow for the Wales run. Sadly it seems likely that myself and Paul will be having to drop out of the drive part, as our Z's are still at the bodyshop and are probably not going to be finished for the weekend. Myself and Tracy will still be there for shoping on the Saturday and the evening drinks and meal (assume there will be some of us). Paul and +1 may be joining us on the Saturday too, but again - the Z is in the shop...
  2. Well - we are going to be another 2 Z's down on the list by the looks of it - bodyshop says that mine wont be done for the weekend, unless its a rush job - which I dont want. Also as Pauls is being sprayed at the same time, then his wont be ready either. Myself and Tracy will still be there for the shopping day on Sat and any evening drinks/meal on the Sat night, but wont be on the drive sadly. Ive tried sticking the Nissan badges on the Seat Altea but it just isnt the same
  3. It may be worth having the dealer monitor the levels and raise this with Nissan then - if enough people do this, then perhaps they may do something about it for those suffering the issue. (before all of us MY06 engine owners run out of warranty)
  4. Indeed - the 300bhp engine has been noted by quite a few to use quite a bit of oil. Mine is not too bad (perhaps 0.25l in 2000 miles). But there are others that have used just as much as yourself and in some circumstanes a lot more. You can ask your dealer to perform a level check on it and monitor the consumption, this can then be raised with Nissan as a warranty issue - I beleive there is at least one owner in the US that has had a replacement engine because of this issue. It would appear that it may be being swept under the carpet here, and the release of the 310bhp engine in a relatively short space of time after the 300bhp engine may well be due to the correcting of this "feature" (and or others). I would suggest you monitor it yourself for a while and if it does not start to drop after the bedding in, you have your dealer monitor it for you and get the mater raised with Nissan.
  5. I feel positively left out. I do tick most of the "dont send me crap through the post" boxes though.
  6. Im sure if Christmas get togethers or other social meets are organised then the team would leave it open to all members on the site - its just the drive out meets that we think should be Z only. There was a Christmas bash thread that started shortly before I went on holliday, did we ever decide a location/date?
  7. What a fool: And the way to instill a team feeling is to reffer to the rest of the team as "they", creating a "them and me" divide. Roughly translated = I wasnt given priority and so I didnt win. Perhaps a different approach to turn 5 in Fuji wouldn't have resulted in bits of his car being scattered to the wind - much like his title chances at that point.
  8. this has enough conversions to keep you busy http://www.unitconversion.org/unit_conv ... orque.html hope it helps.
  9. I have a 43" Pioneer plasma in the living room, since buying this a year or so ago, there have been considerable developments in the LCD world, and the picture quality of top end LCD's is now MUCH better than it was some time ago. The major problem with LCD has alway been its contrast ratio, though there have been technological advances to try and work round this, it is still going o be a thorn in the side of LCD. Beware of "dynamic" contrast ratios that woul on the face of it suggest contrast ratios much higher than plasma. Dynamic contrast does work well, but in instances when both ligh and very dark are required on the screen at the same time, even the best can struggle to produce images on par with even a mid range plasma. The Bravia certainly seem to be at the top of the pyramid for quality LCD, and for me the Pioneer Plasma series have always been among the very best Plasma screens. I did have an issue with image retention on the Plasma, but that was due to me having a static bright white logo displayed on a section of the plasma for hours on end during the early stages of ownership. A screen wash dvd and snow screen overnight fixed it, and now its a bit older it no longer suffers that problem at all. I recently upgraded the setup in my "boys room" upstairs though which is used for HD movies and playing the xbox. Its a HD projector capable of images such as this at a lovely 92" across Halo 3 on this is simply too much fun.
  10. And jus the right colour too Must resist.....
  11. Well, in the two weeks Ive been away, the bodyshop seem to have managed to do absolutely nothing. A visit this morning and there is no sign of the parts even having been opened, though there is a new rear bumper sat next to a prepped Nismo front bumper (the nismo is going on another members car not mine). I "should" have the car this week - but that depends on if they can paint the entire bodykit and rear bumper and have it all fitted in one week. The fortunate news is that the car is sat in the spraying/baking room, so hopefully it's next in line to have everything done. If its not done by the weekend, myself and Tracy will be joining everyone else stopping the night before but will have to dip out of the drive (I wouldnt be as hypocritical as to state Z only and then turn up in a Seat Altea) - fingers crossed they can get the car finished in time
  12. I always find the fifth gear program very poor production. They make their minds up what they want to see, and twist the program to fit it. Its the same with all their car reviews - they just say which one they prefer. They will do some half hearted comparison, and if that doesnt look like favouring their preference, they just say "we like this one so it wins".. Take it with a pinch of salt, just like clarksons views of the 350. We could all drive BMW Z4's, but we aren't all hairdressers that want to drive a common car. Not that we are biassed on this site though...
  13. They have also already given away a 350z previously on one of last seasons shows I think. I wonder if the producers thought the BMW would win so already had the prize lined up. It did seem very laughable though - one contestant wins all three challenges, but the presenters say they would rather have the other car - so that one wins. Very much "its my ball, so I say who wins". Perhaps we could do that in F1 next season to save all the tension - just ask Bernie which driver he preffers and give him the title, it would save months of all this competition malarky, and the teams wouldnt have to lug the gear round the planet.
  14. Oh yes - things arent going his way, so its everyone else thats wrong. Yet when the car is half a second quicker and things are on the up, its all down to his driving... I think the only component missing from Alonsos car is one of these:
  15. Yes - threatening to walk out if things didnt go his way was somewhat childish. He is only 22 though, and I am fortunate enough to still remember what its like to be that age, so probably just his temper getting the better of him - but still, not a very mature thing to say.
  16. Is it just me or is anyone else asking how the chuff that could have been the fault of Hamilton? Radio evidence if it is recorded would presumably back up Lewis' statement on the event, and would suggest that he was concious the driver behind was too close and he went wide in order to avoid an incident. It seems to me that Vettel and Webber were simply not concentrating on their own driving in very poor conditions.
  17. Fingers crossed my car will all be sorted by the time Im back from holiday and the bumper will have been repaired, and the bodykit fitted too If not, Im buying a big plaster for it.
  18. True - its the best I could think of at the time though
  19. So the DVLA send out notifications of licences being revoked without any record being made that the person has received the notification?! Leaving the distinct possibility that drivers could be out there without licences through no perceived fault of their own. You couldn't write this stuff.
  20. It is a farce, but thats no great surprise from the DVLA, like most large authoritive public funded bodies, they are a complete shambles. I tried to ask for self assesment forms from the inland revenue, but they refused to deal with me by phone as the information I gave them as part of the security check did not match their records - they said I would have to write in with the answers to security questions - which would have just been exactly the same, so they would still have ignored me. Turns out thy havent bothered correcting my address in the last 9 years, even though they have managed to update everything else. Now Ive got more forms than I need and tax forms from 2004 to fill in, even though I only required them for this tax year. Planks. They do however manage to update my tax code fairly swiftly. How very strange. With your licence being "revoked" according to the DVLA, how woul that affect this situation? Will the boys in blue use that as an opportunity to suggest you were driving without a licence at all!?

  22. Yes it does. What sticks in the throat of many here is that the registered owner is requested by the police to inform them of who committed the crime, or if they dont, they will get hit with more points and larger fine anyway. I wonder why they dont use that tactic on vandalism in the streets caught on CCTV? Just send a letter to the local likely target who looks most like the reprobate on the CCTV, ask them to identify the vandal - if they dont, just pin it on them anyway - simple
