spursmaddave Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 come on people, you know they're shite. They were good in the 80's, Rio was a great album 1 Quote
wmr1980 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 It's an improvement on the mk3. I actually rather like it. With it being 100kg lighter and 165bhp, with rumours of a 200bhp variant I reckon it'll be a fab car. My mk2 was one of the best cars I owned. Quote
brillomaster Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 its definitely moving the right direct in terms of weight, lighter is always better. Although even with 165bhp its going to feel a bit on the slow side... A few choice mods should help, supercharger and coilovers for starters! Quote
brillomaster Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Plus when driving it I wouldn't have to look at it, which is a bonus... Quote

Though remember the mx5 isn't about being a powerhouse, it still only weighs around 1 tonne, and is very easy to drive on the limit or close to the limit without things going south very quickly. It's designed to be a hoot to drive at slower speeds. I do agree the chassis can cope with more power, heck my mx5 had over 230bhp (mk2). Quote
Rock_Steady Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) come on people, you know they're shite. They were good in the 80's, Rio was a great album you know I meant the MX-5 . But joking aside Duran Duran really were a bit naff though. Their haircuts just weren't crazy enough. Now, Flock of seagulls, they were a proper 80's flash in the pan band. I think the MX-5 would look better based on this haircut. Edited September 5, 2014 by Rock_Steady Quote

Exactly the best thing about an MX-5 is the handling not the speed, but if speed is your thing then s/c it But then who would s/c a lovely n/a engine in a perfectly weighted car Quote
Will370z Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Not a good idea putting a s/c in an mx-5, it did odd things to Darren's car, as it kept going sideways around every corner when on track.... 1 Quote
brillomaster Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 haha sounds perfect for me then! 1 Quote
pjf1985 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I love the design of it and it looks classier now for sure. I can see peoples split opinions on the rear, personally I think it looks OK but would look better with a rear diffuser or something. Looks kind of retro from behind though which I like. Maybe a "more sensible" replacement for the Zed further down the line. Quote

Was rather fun Quote
Dynamic Turtle Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I like what Mazda have done by bucking the forced induction trend with these very impressive Skyactive engines, and by sending the MX5 to fat camp was a good idea. I still think it's too "effete" for a bloke's car - GT86 anyone? Quote
14N Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Sorry, but I don't like it. This... Looks too much like this... 4 Quote
14N Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Oh yeah, so it is! The new one still makes me think of the same - it just looks ever-so-slightly happier! 1 Quote
