ioneabee Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Are you trying to copy Octet? Any plans for decals or are they just staying as they are? not exactly - his, as far as I know are the standard red VHT decals definately (when I get it right)....................my spraying skills are not as good as my brain says they are Quote
350zedd Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I hear that you'll be running with the S/C group in a couple of weeks...... as you'll be able to out-brake everyone with your new colour calipers Quote

ioneabee Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 ok - another day in (my) zed shed slightly different procedure this time as I think the red was picking up the grey primer - so after the grey I used silver, then the red and finally as before the clear coat. a lot more careful on the rubbing down this time results are looking better and by the time I finish all 4, I might actually be passabe at it after 3 coats of grey primer 3 - 4 coats silver 1st coat of red see how slowly I'm going this time 2nd coat of red 3rd coat of red 4th coat of red and fisnished with clear coat still left some marks from rubbing down - I will get better 2 Quote
Ricey Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Didn't like it the first time if I'm honest but great job second time around looks a lot more depth in the paint Quote

ioneabee Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 Didn't like it the first time if I'm honest but great job second time around looks a lot more depth in the paint difficult to really see it from photo's really, but took more care this time and didn't rush as much and try and put too much on in one go Quote

ioneabee Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 ok - all finished I'm going to leave the first one I did as is for now, to show everyone the difference in the finished colour (apart from the poor rubbing down skills demonstrated) for later this month. had the car out in the sun today and it is quite surprising Quote
glrnet Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I saw these at Wales and they looked pretty damn good. How are they now, are you still pleased with them? Which brnad of paint did you use? Quote
ioneabee Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 still looking good Graham ...............but not sure what brnad they are ... although on the tin it just says VHT Quote
glrnet Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 So you elected not to use the Hammerite Smooth then? Must admit I'm tempted not to use Hammerite but then it's been used successfully by others. Quote
ioneabee Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 you're pretty limited to colours though with the hamerite Quote
glrnet Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 you're pretty limited to colours though with the hamerite It will suit my purposes Quote
GMballistic Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 you're pretty limited to colours though with the hamerite It will suit my purposes Think that's their range but have seen other colours advertised as Hammerite but not sure if they're the genuine item. Just fyi. Quote
glrnet Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Thanks GM, will be using the rattle can version Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I believe it was the same make of vht as in my engine bay. It's in my build thread. 2 Quote
JoshC Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Great job, especially 2nd time round! 2 questions, when you rubbed them down from the standard paint, what did you use? Do you reccomend not being to harsh with this stage? Also, have you got a link to the high temp primer you used underneath the silver coat? Going to be doing mine when I can be bothered so any tips are appreciated Quote
