Beckham Transfer

They only have to sell a bunch of shirts, gain extra TV coverage, encourage the extra sponsor or two and that £14k becomes pocket money, wouldn't even need to touch the roubles.

Its a shame though that Beckham has become an industry, he seems to be one of those rare people in football that simply loves playing football. He loved playing for England and never 'retired' like other players.

I don't think there's a more decent and honest man in football than Beckham. In time, I suspect we'll look back on him with the same fondness we do for Bobby Robson. Just a shame that when his career is over he won't try his hand at management, but then his football schools are a pretty good cause too.

If they took the money out of football it might actually become a decent game again. All I see is greedy idiots, players in the papers for the wrong reasons. And an English squad that's as useful as a used tampon.

+ lots

Mind you it's always been the same, I have Jimmy Greaves books and in one he says he knocked on Bill Nicholson's door accompanied by the players rep....

Jimmy - 'cough..... Boss I think i'm worth £100 a week and the lads agree'

Bill (without even looking up) - 'well I don't so f@@@ off out of my office'

The real scourge of the games is agents not the players in my book...

Agreed. A player on £200K p/w I can understand (even if they'll only see less than half that), but agents getting £Ms for negotiating transfers? Crazy.

Probably worth thinking about the fact that the FA are hugely incompetent, and half the reason the national team isn't very good is his the game is run from grass roots level.

Scrap the agents, cap the salaries, and focus on developing players that have the skills and play as a team. If rugby can do it, why can't football.

Too late, too many people making too much money out of it :surrender:

Hopefully the fair play idea where clibs can't be run into the ground will help but I doubt it...

Was also reading today about how Samba was going to keep QPR up and was worth £12M and £80k a week for 4 years...... got to be the most rediculous signing in premier league history surely?

Did very well for a player who couldn't tackle, head the ball, never had any pace and his left foot was only there to balance his body. Having said that he was one of the best free kick specialists and crosser of the ball I've ever seen.
