rtbiscuit Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 some great stuff in there, its a shame i only have 30 min, lots of these are more to do with good driving practice, but some stuff will come up in conversation. i might run more courses for the 6th form if there is interest and maybe focus on driving practice etc. this is just a very short intro if you like.I've allowed for questions at the end as i think most will have some. HaydnH Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 It might be worth adding a quick comment regarding checking things before you get in the car each time as well as the weekly/monthly checks, I get fed up of trying to wave at people with blown bulbs etc. Detailing advice! Maybe if they're rich kids, it's probably not worth the effort for an old £200 Nova though. Quote

Plus, given the weather and time of year, properly cleared screen and clean lights are good maintenance tips. Quote
Aliensurfer Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Maybe what to do on a brake failure? Handbrake and stick it in 1st or 2nd gear I was always told, thankfully never had to try it though know someone who has and it saved his life. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 well i was let down by my students, none of them showed up Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 not kidding, waited half an hour, and not a sausage. Quote
leonk Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 What a shame! I thought it was a brilliant idea. I've tried to show my son some basic maintenance checks and skills but it's like pulling teeth I think we run round after them so much, they don't see the need. If it breaks someone ELSE will fix it. Don't get me wrong, I love him to bits but sometimes......... Do i sound like a sad old f*rt? Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 its alright i have a list of 20 students who are now black listed.when ever an a level student or another teacher has an automotive issue they all come and see me, and i always help; these kids just made the black list. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 exactly. i had loads of the younger kids asking if i would do the course with them instead. Quote

coldel Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Really surprised none turned up at all. Rub it in tomorrow, tell them you got your mate to turn up in his Ferrari 458 for them to try their skills out on but never mind eh... Highlights some of the diminishing responsibility we see from younger people nowadays, think that their actions have no consequences and don't care either if they do. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 i think its their age, its not deliberate, they just dont think Quote
DoogyRev Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 i think its their age, its not deliberate, they just dont think I bet of you painted your car Pink (for the girls) and had some dolly birds in spandex (for the boys) the room would be full to bursting Quote

Don't want him telling me what to do. Last time we did stuff, I got arrested. Quote

The Bounty Bar Kid Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Honestly, I'm up for capital punishment for paedophiles, rapists and murderers. Just my way of thinking. Quote
