Pnthrblkzs Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I've had a quote from thewheelspecialist.co.uk in Fareham, Hampshire for 4 18'' Rays, car in, remove tyres, strip wheels, repair, powder coat, refit tyres and balance, same day service for £393 i did an online quote with them on an old car a few years ago, when i didn't book in they called me with an offer. I'm waiting for a similar call at the moment, although i may call them at the end of the week if i've heard nothing and see what i can wangle. Quote

Jay Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Is there not issues powdercoating forged wheels? Not if you do it right Quote
Dblock Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Not if you do it right Was it lower temp? Even though the wheels say FORGED I would still let the shop know. I know your getting them painted but just incase anyone else needs to know. Quote
370Ad Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 http://www.citypowdercoating.co.uk/ £20 a wheel! Quote
Will370z Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Good luck with the refurb matey. Let me know how it goes as i'll be doing mine in the new year Quote

I know your getting them painted but just incase anyone else needs to know. I think its how long you bake them for and also what temp they go in at. But if you take the wheels to a reputable garage they will be fine. (famous last words) Quote
ioneabee Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 http://www.citypowdercoating.co.uk/ £20 a wheel! wow ! thats some price - but it would cost me £100 + in fuel there and back cheers Will - piccies will be posted when its done Quote
Leeroy Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I had 4 wheels done recently, they stripped, wet painted and then powder-coated the lacquer so you have a tough skin on the outside. Normally it's £200 but it cost me £150 as they were doing a 4for3 deal. This was in Kent, a place called Inspraytion.... Quote
dErZ Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 If you dont need your car as a daily why dont you refurb them yourself? I did 3 of my wheels last week and they turned out great Quote
ioneabee Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 unfortunately (or fortunately - whatever your viewpoint) mine is my daily but ....... how about a guide on how you did it Quote
Pnthrblkzs Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Got mine booked in at www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk in Fareham on Monday 5th can't wait. Only managed a 10% discount on my quote though. Just had a thought, what do they normally do with the centre caps if there's a change in wheel colour? Jon Quote

Mind you I do carry a spare rather than rely on the Gel stuff if I got a puncture. Quote
ioneabee Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 emptied the car whilst having a tidy up ....................... last week Quote

ioneabee Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 I would rather have the wheels done though !!! my missus was p*ssing herself silly Quote
sipar69 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 emptied the car whilst having a tidy up ....................... last week I know the feeling. I once spent nearly a whole day travelling back and forth on the train to Slough when, having dropped the car off with the refurb guys and taken two trains home, I got a call to tell me that they couldn't get the locking nut off (Dealer had lost the one that came with car so gave us their crappy master copy, which turned out to be so damaged it didn't work!). Had to beg one from a local Nissan garage and train it all the way back to the wheel refurbs and then back home again Quote
ioneabee Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Ok - 'nother update on this went searching for the locking nut key - I have the bag with the 4 replaced nuts in..........but no key !! - now I haven't taken it out, so ergo.......I have NO locking nut key !!!! Holy sh!t batman - 12 months without a key !! I have the code, so hopefully the dealer can get a replacement ? (at his cost, because I NEVER had it) stupid me for not seeing this mind Quote
Ebized Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Did you have this sorted? http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/59847-wifey-is-now-banned/page__hl__wheel and they stil have the locking nut key, or they put it in the car somewhere that you haven't checked since then? Quote
ioneabee Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Nope - haven't got the locking nut key - so wheels have never been off - and I can't find anywhere else to look in the car ........ unless there's a secret compartment I don't know about Quote
