Possible timing chain needs changing ??

I had the 'engine check light' come on so i took it to nissan and got the codes,

P0345 Camshaft poition sensor

P0011 and P0021 Bank 1 and 2 variable valve controllers, which were at -17 degrees, should be between +5 or -5

They checked the timing chain tensioner protrusion which was at 14.5mm, they're techs 'think' the chain could be stretched which is causing the other problems.

Then the next day i had problems starting it after work, as if the battery was nearly flat.

They quoted £1000 in parts then labour on top to change the chain. The car has only done 43k miles.

Any ideas?

I would try replacing the CPS first as it is only a 5 minute job

The other codes could be a direct result of the CPS failure as you may be getting an over advanced signal.

All parts in stock, preowned or brand new

Let me know if I can help you further

Alex. :)

Down in salisbury, so any specialists also around southampton, bournemouth and poole areas are easily accessable.

It's an 04 350z uk model.

Smile in Portsmouth mate. Nissan mechanics there.

Or Jez (Horsham Developments) in Newbury

ZedShed is in Bournemouth ;)

Do you have any contact details, address?

Thats a little forum joke (well sort of). A rather over enthusiastic member called keyser runs a sort of 'car brothel' called the zedshed from his house.......no so sure he'd be able to fix your car at the drop of a hat though,

So true Ricey - I like the "car brothel" but me over enthusiastic never!!:lol:

If you get a CPS from Alex - and bring it over we can fit it and then read any fault codes it throws up

We are not a professional company (you can say that again )

So bring chocolate biccys to ensure a happy welcome :)

If that would help drop me a PM and we can squeeze you in one evening :)

The original problem is still there (the cps and intake valve prob), then a day later it had problems starting which was the battery dieing, it was just a coincidence that it happened around the same time. I thought the 2 things were linked, but they're not.

  • 1 month later...

Cps changed, and still the problem all the sensors and solenoids have been checked and they all work fine but still throws up the error codes 0011 and 0021, then if pushed it hesitates and will throw up the cel and 0345 code.
