SimonD Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Pictures tell a thousand words. M11 sliproad at Birchanger Services (Stansted) heading towards Cambridge at 7.45 in the morning Quote
Removed Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 ouch important thing is you are here to tell the tale... write off? Quote
ir_fuel Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 :scare: Bloody hell? How did you survive this one? Not too much injuries I hope? :| Quote
SimonD Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 General feeling is that it will be, two air bags deployed as well as the radiator going into the engine a bit. Spoke to the bodyshop manager at the dealer who suggested that the insurance company send an assessor down before moving it as the description of the damage means that it's probably total loss\BER. Silly thing is that I was stopped at the red lights, pulled away and in less then 200 yards I was sitting in the armco The back end just went and by the time it caught again the car was in the armco which spun me around. Police turned up, breathed me and then drove off, obviously nothing I could have done, no speeding... just unlucky I am just thankful that my 7 month pregnant wife wasn't in the car. Quote
ir_fuel Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Was that with traction control on or off? Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Sorry to see this mate - at least you are ok though. Did you have the ESP switched off? Quote
Sylvester Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Probably not a good idea to answer those questions on an open forum.. Hope the piccies don't show any undeclared mods. If they do then pull them quick. Hope you are ok mate.... totalling a car is a gutting feeling but if you live to tell the tale its a great pub story! One less red one too... :-(( Quote
GC350z Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I always feel a sense of loss when a nice car takes a hit. Thankfully none hurt. Front beam looks to of remained in place but repairs would be massive including labour. If you just looked at the price for bonnet, bumper, fender plus painting and fitting and a few bits behind you'd be looking at €5000 in Ireland. (where I am btw, UK would differ of course) Then there's head lamp, washer bottle, radiator, air box and anything else that isn't vissible. Right off for sure. Now I really feel bad. Sorry to see mate. Hope it's sorted quickly. Quote
monkfish Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Unlucky mate. Sorry to see that. It was a great looking car too. Quote
sl114 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 God that is aweful. Can you salvage any parts back from the insurance company and sell them on? Could get some money for the wheels and remaining part of the nismo kit Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I'm speechless... Hope you're all right though... Quote

Chesterfield Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Sorry to see that The main thing is you are ok - the cars just a chunk of metal and plastic at the end of the day, and as you say, lucky your wife wasn't in at the time. Hope everything goes smoothly with the insurance and any purchase of a replacement. Quote
sl114 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Nixy, think about the damage it has done and how he is still here though!!! IIRC the 350 is a very safe car and has great crumple zones. Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Louis is quite right Nixy. They are also a lot more forgiving than some RWD cars such as TVRs and 911s to mention a couple. Quote
Zedrush Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Ouch, glad you made it through mate rather the car than you. Quote
