Thinking a about a 350z

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd join up, say hello and try and get some advice! I am from Cambridge area if there are any locals :)

Im thinking of buying a 350z, I did consider an evo...but they are very unreliable from what I have learnt, and then someone pointed me towards a 350z! Plus insurance is a lot cheaper on the 350z!!

I saw one on ebay I liked with a Nismo body kit (are these hard to fit/find/expensive?) but is a cat D in the past and the seller has bad feedback :yuck: I also did an insurance quote, and where he says it is a GT it comes back as a Fairlady.

I was just wondering what I should look for, I have a fiesta ST at the moment which I would either p/x or sell which would leave me with around 6-6.5k +1k from myself to bump me to 7-7.5kk. Would that be enough?

What is the mpg like? Service rough costs? - I was looking at 15mpg-19mpg in an evo with 300-500 service costs and had to take it to a specialist...is this the case here too?

What should I look for, how can I tell whats a good one to whats a bad one?

Cheers all!

Ashley

I have seen the CAT D in another thread. It's also en engine transplant- avoid!

Depends how and what kind of driving you are doing but expect low 20mpg - as for servicing anything from £100 for P1 to £300ish for P3.

Nismo kit is nice and getting rarer for genuine kit but you can pick up excellent copies for a decent price.

GT is uk term for some nice extras basically fair lady is the cars name in japan.

As for what to look for, there is a sticky thread giving full details.

Here's the thread:

I would avoid if I was you, the seller hasn't been up front about the engine change, which I think has 60k and not 27k!

Some insurance companies class them as the fairlady Z some don't, nothing to worry about its an error on the insurance companies part. Give them a call to confirm ist the same if your happy with the quote.

Also try the insurance companies on here, you get club discount.

Oh and Welcome along! :teeth::wave:

For 7 to 7.5k you should be able to find one of the older models on Average milage. Have a look in faqs etc for differences. Imports tend to be a bit cheaper also.

I would also have a look in zeds for sale. Buying off a member will give you a chance to search its history.

Good luck in your search and remember if it seems too good....it probably is!

Welcome. Mine should be within your budget ;)

MPG, mine is around 25/26 average, 20 for town. Lower tax band (£240) if it's an 06 or older (I think).

Service costs, my last one was £350 iirc, including Spark Plugs. That was a P2, next is a P1 (so cheaper).

Just make sure it has a full service history, this engines are pretty bulletproof. And go for a GT, they have the goodies.
