In honesty do you see the prices of 350's crashing with fuel prices etc? I am close to being in a position to purchase one, however, I'm thinking about waiting till early part of next year as .... I will have saved an extra few thousand and petrol prices are expected to rise to over 140 per litre minimum On a further note to this if anyone has a crystal ball (that's ball not balls :/ ) how long till 370's start appearing in the open market for the 15-16k mark? rtbiscuit Posted July 31, 2011 Share Posted July 31, 2011 the 350 has already dropped like a stone, reckon there is a bit more to come off in the next 12 months but not masses, early 2003 jdm's can already be had for about 6k. so i can't see much more coming off. they'll probably fall in line with supra prices at some point. as for the 370, i'd give it another 18 months to 2 years. Yep, dropped a lot in the last year so may slow down a bit now. Since I was looking last September I reckon prices have dropped a good 30%. EH 370z Posted July 31, 2011 Share Posted July 31, 2011 It's a massively broad subject, as there are so many factors to consider when trying to predict future car prices. We used Black Cap Book to value cars within a particular month and to be fair it also gives the drop in value per month, but only one month at a time as we dispose of the old books when the new one comes out. For example: a 350Z 300 GT coupe 2006 06 plate with circa 30k on the clock lost £450 month on month. However the same car but an 2006 56 plate with 60k on the clock lost £850 month on month. An 2007 57 plate with 50k lost £950. You can drive yourself mad with this, trust me! The best you can do is use a much common sense with it as possible, by researching what’s out there and what it is realising. The Black Book is only a guide, the reality is, a car is only worth what’s it’s worth on that day to whoever wants to buy it at that price or bid price. The is especially true of specialist cars like the 350/370Z's. when we value car to sell, we look at what is in the market place, and what its selling for. We then take an amount of money for general recon and a bit of profit on the forecourt. This figure is then sense check against the Black Book. Railgun Posted July 31, 2011 Share Posted July 31, 2011 My 370 with all the toys on 10 reg has just cost me 25000. It had 8000 on the clock, premium connect GT spec. I built one on the nissan website and it came to 35000. I think thats quite a drop in a year. Trying to just enjoy the car instead of worrying about depreciation and fuel prices, because lets face it, if thats whats foremost on your mind when you buy a Z, your really not going to enjoy ownership! I think in general with sports cars that winter time is the best time to buy them, as a lot of people only use them in summer months and dont fancy ruining their toy with snow / salt / ice etc. In my case, buying a convertible was always going to be cheaper when the weather is rubbish. I bought mine for £14k odd back in March, and when I looked on autotrader last week, the closest I could find with the same spec, year & mileage was £16.5k. But then, the sun is out its perfect selling time for a soft top so the prices rise. We found the same thing with my missus`s last car. Personally I do not see the prices of cars like these crashing cos of fuel prices. Fuel has not been cheap for a very long time and yet these sort of cars still sell. Same as M3`s, M5`s and any other big engined car. Someone out there can always afford them and they are an enthusiasts car. I plan to keep mine for another 12 months, then sell next summer. Winter months is defo the time to purchase......who in their right mind would go searching to buy for a rear wheeled, tarmac eating sports car delivering over 270bhp during the cold, slippery, icy and snow covered months Yep......us lot because we love them and they are amazing. If you use it for every day driving, mainly crusing with the odd blat your`ll get about 300->320miles on a tank, about an average of 25->26mpg. If its just a w/end car when your going to mainly be giving it some stick, you`ll be down to 160->200.
