Thats staggeringly expensive. My neighbours got a fiat 500 diesel which looks pretty much the same as that but its not red. Same wheels etc... and im sure she didnt pay 40k for it! lol.

Isn't it just all part of the emissions loophole though...each car brand needing to have an average emissions level across its range of cars. No one in their right mind would buy one though...but having it on offer gets Ferrari through that particular piece of legislation.

Wouldn't be the first time that Ferrari have come up with somewhat questionable (although ingenious) solutions to various rules and legislation!

It's a badging exercise, nothing more. Tbh I'd rather drive one of those than a Cygnet.

You'd make this poor little fluff ball fly you round .......you monster

Am I the only person who had actually heard of this car before?!

Someone I work with told me about this a few months ago. I told her she had got it wrong but she then Googled it just to prove me wrong :scare:

That requirement applies to a manufacturing group as a whole, as such Ferrari's are already encompassed within the Fiat group, and therefore the fiat 500's. This is the reason that Aston Martin had to create the cygnet, as they dont own another brand of car that already sells smaller emission vehicles. They needed to produce the cygnet to lower their "groups" overall emissions as their group consists of one brand.

Lamborghini/Bugatti are part of the same family as Seat/VW/Audi/Skoda with all their low emission vehicles, so there is no reason for a low emission Lambo.

This restriction will almost certainly hamper the transition from any smaller independent sports car manufacturer to a larger mass production establishment, otherwise they will need to start producing a low emission vehicle at the same time. The only other option is to sell their brand to a larger manufacturer that already has low emission vehicles rolling off the production line.

Probably a good little run about for someone with money to drop on a posey little round town car. There was an article in the paper over here about a couple of weeks ago.

1. This is an special edition Abarth and nothing to do with average emission regulations.

2. If you spec up a VW Golf R with DSG, wheels, leather, xenons, and an aftermarket exhaust it's well over £40k.
