Removed Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 oh dear, this looks as fast as a stock Z... plus being TT already, look out for chipped/modified ones who'll smoke a stock Z doesn't look bad either http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Dr ... eId=116129 Quote
Stew Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Well it is nicer than the saloon. It's minging. Looks nice but it's for bankers and guys with kids. Quote
Ian Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 They sound good aswell. Seen one a few weeks ago doesnt look special but sounded special Quote
Baptist Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I dont think that the turbos on that car will give much more, they are two tiny units designed for minimal/zero lag. A bit like the Saab low pressure applications. Bet its a nice drive, still a mingin beemer though, when all said and done. Quote
H5 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Oh dear, Chris Bangle has ba$tardised a CLK! Quote
Digsy Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Dull, dull, dull, dull, dull, dull looking car....... For the same drivetrain in a sexy looking coupe (and not a 2 door saloon) I could ignore the Beemer badge. Quote
16BT Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Never have bought and NEVER would buy a BMW. Styling is better than saloon but that does not take much. It just looks DULL. I thought coupes were supposed to look exciting? Only 8 weeks until Z arrives. Quote
P15UL T Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 just looked at it and have forgot what it looks like already B.M.Wubblespew Quote
Kev946 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Since the engine has been built for turbos from the outset i woudl expect it to:- 1. Be able to be chipped and easily produce more power, e.g. at least 30bhp for not a lot of money 2. The engine is already low compression so bigger turbos could be fitted to take it to significant extra power, e.g. a miniumum of 100bhp This is the problem with the Zed engine being NA, which is why the APS TT only runs a very low 8psi. PS: My Cossie runs 30psi on full chat... BTW is you guys are so bothered about looks, how about that new Audi TT?... Quote
Baptist Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I dont think its the kind of car where people will mess about with larger turbo's (although Im not saying it cant be done) The compression ratio is still 10.2:1 which is still high, hence the small turbo's and very minimal lag. Not all Zeds are running 10.5:1 compression Quote
captint Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I don't know why everyones so down on BM's, I had a 330ci which wasn't too shabby and then an E46 M3, which was a great car, just let down by the flappy paddle gear box and its inability to stop without waarping the disc's Quote
Ian Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 My mate has got a M3 EVO, its a great car. Id quite happily have an M3 or 3 Series coupe. My uncle sold an M3 convertible last year but I couldnt afford the insurance on it or id probably be driving that now - I think I made the roght choice though Quote

Just my opinion. Quote

M13KYF Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Interesting article on crappy fifth gear tonight. Nice power delivery but when it was parked up, it just didn't turn one head. Quote
Kev946 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Interesting article on crappy fifth gear tonight. Nice power delivery but when it was parked up, it just didn't turn one head. Classic case of german conservative design. The 3 series is such as big seller for BMW they just deren't be too radical. Look what happened when the Sierra was introduced. The Cortina drivers were in uproar... And I'm old enough to remember before you say... Quote
M13KYF Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 just don't think it looks as good as the last coupe did over the four door on the last model. See what the M3 will look like. Quote

Just my opinion. I would sum it up as they make good (even the odd great) cars but once normal people get behind the wheel they turn into a-holes. And it gets rammed down your throat how exclusive they are when they're the most common company car going. IMO anyway.... Quote
