What annoys you most at work? I'll start.

#1: No matter how long I sit at my desk in total silence, the very second I leave my desk my phone will ring.

#2: No matter how long I sit at my desk in total silence, the very second I pull out some crackers or prepare my lunch someone comes up and needs me the very second I take my first bite.

1) Middle managers having the final say just because they are "higher" then you, when you specialise in the line of work day in day out and know what your talking about. They often choose the wrong decision and waste everyones time and money.

2) People who say they "work so hard" yet go on 50 coffee/smoke breaks a day and get rewarded more than hard working quiet ones because of the social aspect

3) People that think you can just stop everything you've been working on for hours / days just to get their poxy thing completed.

1. working with someone that although is a lovely girl will not SHUT UP and when i try to subtley ignore says "eh nicola? eh nicola? eh nicola?"

2. being the only person who doesn't sit near a radiator but everyone else insists on opening the windows when its minus 10 degrees in here.

3. We have to get a working party together and have meetings to arrange when we are having meetings........this is usually to decide if we should change the type of paperclips we use or something equally important.

Man, I hate this too. Having a meeting about a future meeting - whats the point of it?!

I think all meetings should be abolished. They often go around in full circle.

If your not in a meeting, chances are you're doing the actual work discussed in the meeting.

Add to that that I usually pull the short straw to be on said working party and end up having to travel from Yorkshire to Millbank in London to talk about 'paperclips'......... Or worse still the dreaded video conference where i try to hide out of camera shot!

Ahhh to be a contractor, no politics, just turn up, do some work your given, give unbias honest opinions, then after 8hrs, feck off home without a care in the world, other than remembering to get a timesheet in on a Friday :yahoo:

Its remarkable how much fun the workplace is when you are not involved in the politics. Just being able to laugh at all the nonses and if they annoy you, just tell them to go away :teeth:

haha i usually put in to lead a meeting. I run meetings to the point and absolutely no BS, bit of a hard ass in them  the polar opposite of me normally. maybe i like the power

1: when someone wont shut up on the desk next to you

2: when people put a plain black and white boring power point up as they dont understand how to operate microsoft. and then procede to drone on.

3: when people send you massive files via email

4: when people press reply all when its not bloody necessary

5: when people think just because you are at the computer rather than in the workshop you couldnt possibly be doing work

When someone walks by your desk and sees what's on your computer monitor (and I'm on the 350 Z-uk site) and they have to make a comment. What I hear the most is 'is that your car!?"

I normally get a "you're on there so much, you must run it by now!" and I just reply "yup"

My main annoyance would have to be to Too many meetings ...

I can understand that some people may be bored and not have work to do so schedule a long meeting about something of no importance ... but some of us have lots to do and would rather not have to sit through lengthy meetings and waste time ....

Second one would have to be interuptions ... I feel as though I'm constantly being disturbed for something that'll "only take a few minutes" ... and then find myself still working on it an hour later!

Awww poor Stew! How about you make it yourself

Pfffft, this is my third day on and he hasn't bought me a subway yet either. I'll be complaining soon! :teeth:

I hate it when someone rings the phone of someone who's not at their desk, leave it ringing for ages, realise no-one is answering, then proceed to call every other phone in turn! And its not usually urgent either. I'm not employed as a secretary :dots:

Also, people can't understand why I don't answer the phone if i'm busy... why should the phone demand my immediate attention?

and yes I am a miserable git.. haha

People who because your office is quiet, tidy and clean insist that it's the best place to eat their dinner.

The a fore mentioned people whilst eating their dinner trying to chat to you when you are working because you have to try and fit your breaks in when you have time.

Working solid all day and finally getting a break late afternoon and having a late dinner only to be get funny looks as to why you're having a non scheduled break.

People with no hands on ability who cherry pick the work so that you get all the installation/fault finding/repairs/climbing over plant and they get the checking the stores and doing the ordering/faxes/phone calls.

Never getting any recognition when you work above and beyond to hit a deadline, is "thanks for getting that done, I appreciate the effort it took" so bl00dy difficult to say ?

Not being considered for advancement as you've been told that if you were to move up none of the work you currently do would not get done so they need you where you are. Hello,

I'm in a department of seven here for gods sake doesn't that tell you something ?
