matth76 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Hi I have just bought a 2005 350z and one exhaust tip is nice and shiny but the other is ingrained with dull brown muck (clearly never been cleaned). I have tried some metal polish from Halfords but it has had no real effect. Please can anyone recommend what cloth to use and what product I can buy that will do the job? Thanks for any info. Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 It has to be Autosol... http://www.thepolishingshop.co.uk/acata ... olish.html Quote
matth76 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 Cheers for the quick responses! Do Halfords sell it (they're just down my road) or if not where can I get some? Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Halfords do sell it... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165527 Quote
Stew Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 If it's really bad it's worth putting autosol on fine wire wool then tidying it up with a microfiber. Quote
Rob_Quads Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 yup halfords sell it for a few quid more than other places. Lots of rubbing but it does the job. That combined with a flap wheel cleans the inside of one a treat too. Quote
Rentech Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Use autoglym metal polish myself. Seems to do a great job and only £4.99, though it is a smaller size. You don't need much so either will probably last you forever if you're just polishing the tips Will have to give the autosol stuff a try though Halfrauds seems a bit steep at £5.48 for 75g when the polishing shop are doing 100g for £2.89 Quote
matth76 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 Cheers guys. Just checked and that is the stuff I have already tried although I did only use it on a soft cotton cloth. I will try using something like fine wire wool as suggested which will cut into it a bit better. Quote
AK350Z Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Autosol is just over £2 in my local indie hardware shop, can't belive that halfords markup! Quote

drewbie Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Autoglym metal polish brings up my stainless steel exhaust a treat. Might try Autosol if uncle Mike recommends it though - always willing to learn from my elders Quote
Fletch Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Use green scotch brite with WD40 on it, wipe it off, go at it with the autosol, wipe it off, give it a once over with Meguiars Metal Polysh, it leaves a coating on the metal and makes it easier to clean next time. (as told to me by BigPhil) Fletch Quote
