I picked my new Mustang up in March.  I've had it 6 weeks and only done about 500 miles in it so far.  It's starting to loosen up and feel more comfortable on the road, and so far i'm very happy.

I've ordered several minor cosmetic mods this week, the first of which arrived today thanks to Tarmac Sportz.

Here it is when it was delivered to the dealer, and after it's first detail at home.

And here's the first mod going on...!  I've only done one wheel so far, will do the rest at the weekend.  I know these are marmite for some people, but given this is an American car i feel I can get away with this, and some of the other things i've got planned. :ninja:

It was a pretty easy job, and only took about 45 minutes.

Had them on mine for a while, but when you get fed up with them because they're filthy and impossible to clean (so about 10 mins  ) they're almost impossible to remove without causing damage to the sidewall. Not damage as in undriveable, but it just looks a mess. I'd never fit them again, regardless of how good they can look.

White stripes down the bonnet to match next?

Yeah been reading similar stories, but planning to tyre pen them when they get to that stage i reckon.

Gloss black stripes, mirrors and roof coming soon, if i can get a wrapping company to phone me back (tried two but still no joy).

Subscribed! There’s a strong possibility the Mustang is next on my list, so it’d be good to catch Stangitis nice and early.

I love the look of Tredwear letters but they are a royal pain to maintain. Some sort of white tyre pen you can touch them up with would be ace. Keep well away from curbs as long as you can.

Oh and good luck with the build B)

I’d get rid of the Pirelli’s ASAP btw, before winter at the very least, worst performing tyre I’ve ever driven on

I wish they’d spent an extra ten minutes on the coolant reservoir. I’ve already had to bookmark covers and replacement options for my inevitable purchase.

Nice Work in that engine bay G.

Aye, mibees Stu, there was an issue with some mustangs, drinking coolant and one or two got caught out because they’d either replaced the tank with an aftermarket, with no gauge or just ignored the inadequate ones.

nice easy check on the stock one

Another mod done today... i don't like the clear rear lights that are standard on the UK Mustang, so i ordered a vinyl tint kit from the states.  Was a bit of ball ache to fit, and up close it's not perfect, but it's the kind of imperfections that only i know are there and from a distance is fine.

I'm happy with the red colour, I think it complements the blue well but the vinyl means the lights have lost some of their definition around the detail which is a shame.

've been looking for a private number plate since i got the car last year... finally found one i liked and fitted it today.

Fitted my old motorised plate holder from my 350z days too.  I've not wired it in yet... i need to replace the remote receiver for it as i'd left that wired in to my old car, but you can still work the unit by hooking the motor up to a drill battery.

I'm really happy with the new mounting point for the front plate.

Looks good now, I think the new pin stripes help tie in the tints on the rear lamps a treat. Front plate mod is a neat trick for those cars too. Lucky no no. plate plinth up front either.

Does look good though mate, I have to say

Looks as cool a gadget now as it did back then on your Zed.

What would be really cool is having one on the rear that you could activate when some prat drives right up your rear.

A nice BIG one with a suitable "polite" message on it

Replaced all 4 tyres yesterday with MPS4Ss, so had to give line lock a go to finish the old ones off... :)

I've also added a few more mods since i last posted on here, i.e. side scoops and black side badges.

Now you’ve lived with it for a while, do you mind if I ask how you find the ride and refinement? I expect nice v8 noises obvs, but how’s the road/wind noise, squeaks/rattles etc. What does it do with poor road surfaces when your cruising?

Good question.

Honestly - it was a very refined GT cruiser until i modified it. :)

It was super compliant over pot holes and rough surfaces - I car share with a colleague with an M235i on lowering springs, and that thing almost gives you concussion when going over minor imperfections, but the Mustang would glide over most pot holes without you noticing them.  The exhaust was also barely noticeable unless you had the window down.

But then i fitted Eibach lowering springs and replaced the back boxes with straight pipes.   Now it's lowered, its still way more compliant than my mates M235i but it is a bit too bouncy now which is a shame.  And the exhaust is shockingly loud... but thats what I wanted from a Mustang at the end of the day!

Other than that, the build quality has been perfect - I've not had any issues at all, touch wood.   The cabin is a lovely place to be - there is no noticeable wind or road noise, or squeaks/rattles at all - its definitely on a par with my old (now wife's) e90 BMW,

That said - the only noise issue i've had has been with the rear seats - after i first folded them down to get something large in the boot, they squeaked constantly after that - but this was quickly resolved with a small square of sainsburys carrier bag which i placed over the mounting bracket.  Problem solved!
