catman Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Hi all, I was browsing the classifieds earlier and came across a 59 plate car, which doesn't seem to have the power bulge in the bonnet. It also only has one throttle body. Am I mistaken, or is this dodgy? On it's first mot, under the advisory section, it said upper and lower engine covers fitted, preventing proper inspection. Maybe I'm just being suspicious. (or dead wrong!) What do you think? Tim Quote
evest Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) It could be an import. They can have plates registered as the year of import, I think? Do you have a link? Edited October 10, 2016 by evest Quote
Jetpilot Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) Upper and lower covers just means, undertray and engine cover wasnt removed. Makes no difference what year it was imported to plate, age related plates are assigned. If it only has one air filter it is unlikely an hr, it is just possible its a very very late registered uk car for some reason. Edited October 10, 2016 by Jetpilot Quote
GrahameJ Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Plates are registered on date of manufacture in Japan. I have a JDM import. Quote
evest Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Ah okay, knew it was something to do with registration! Quote
catman Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 It's on Auto Trader, advertised as a 308bhp model. £10,950 blue, by Motoworld. Quote
Adam B Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 If it has one intake/filter its not the later spec power. 308bhp model had twin intakes. Quote
JetSet Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) Another Irish import, the GT4 wheels give it away . When the Irish economy crashed all of the unsold 350Z's were bought by by Nissan dealers in The U.K a mix of both 296's and 309's, this one is clearly a 296 as Azure Blue was discontinued when the 309's were introduced. Also you can't fit the older spec bonnets to the 309, the bulge was added as the engine sits higher. Pete Edited October 10, 2016 by JetSet Quote
evest Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Looks like the trader website has just auto-filled the data according to the year of registration. So the info is incorrect but probably an honest mistake. Quote
ATTAK Z Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 looks like an up-rev DE ... that makes it 2006 MY ... and it's a UK car so not JDM import Quote
catman Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Interesting replies, every day's a school day! Tim Quote
ATTAK Z Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 note that MOTs indicate that tyres have not lasted well on this car ... perhaps evidence of it's earlier manufacture Quote
Willsy1980 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Seller is a 2 minute walk from my house, if anyone is considering buying this. Let me know and I can pop over and get you extra pics/videos etc to save you a trip. Quote
Jay Kay Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 It's just an older model that didn't sell for a while and sat in a lot waiting for a buyer. It would then have been registered at point of sale. There are quite a few of the older models knocking around on 08 and 09 plates. Quote
