chrislich Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Just wondering what people use to stop seals sticking when freezing. Normally wipe a little wd40 over the seals. Any better suggestions? Quote
BulletMagnet Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Won't WD40 dry out rubber over time? 1 Quote
chrislich Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 I only pop it on over the winter but normally pop autoglym stuff on it Quote
chrislich Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 Never thought of silicon spray. Can get some from work for free. I'll have a look at that other stuff as well Quote
JetSet Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Won't WD40 dry out rubber over time? Yeah, I wouldn't use it, will have a long term effect (and it's smelly) Pete Quote
ChrisS Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Won't WD40 dry out rubber over time? Yeah, I wouldn't use it, will have a long term effect (and it's smelly) Pete WD40 kills the rubber seals and joints on jet skis. So instead we use GT85 (it's quite cheap from CPC farnell) Gummi Pflege for the win though. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Halfords (of all places) do a own brand silicone spray. Still have a can of that myself Quote
gillywig2 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 My windows don't freeze to the rubbers but on the horizontal weather stip along the top of the door. When you open the door thw window can't drop. Quote
monkeybrain1234 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Silicone spray on seals and inside the locks too. I find it will last around 6 weeks, then simply reapply. Quote
