The bad points could ending up costing you quite a bit of money, but things like the clutch is a good items just to have been replaced, but why has it been replaced at 42k?!?!
When you look at parkers guide private good prices for an 05 range from like 5k to 8k which is quite a wide specrum.
So his price to me says its minted and needs nothing....im sure you could pick up a better deal if you waited and search around, or was willing to travel.

I have found in the past couple years most companies quote there cheapest possible price, so when the renewal comes through £50-£100 more than compare the market prices they just say they cannot compete which is quite annoying but at the end of the day we will go for the cheapest price providing we are happey with the reviews of the company.
Molyslip is good but depending on the noise of whining maybe common sense will say the box is knackered....worth a try for the sake of £50 odd quid though!
Was the engine turning over but not starting? then with the lights off its started?!?! seems a strange one!
The lights thing may just be throwing you off
