  1. Wow... I want; That air box and plenum, The wheels, The brakes, The dials.... Nice find Adrian, Matt
  2. Others have used a kid's crayons to mask the damage... worth a go and a cheap fix. Matt
  3. Nice one, thanks. I'm getting fed up of running over old bricks and bits of MDF to get my jack under the car!
  4. thats what i've got at home Cool, are they up to the job? I'm quite tempted to get a pair myself. Cheers, Matt
  5. You could try something like this; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAMMA-CARAVAN-WH ... 286.c0.m14 They're pretty cheap but probably up to the job "The caravanners favourite! Simple to use, sold as a pair and capable of taking up to 5 tonnes."
  6. Hi mate, are you sure it's not your drop links going? Mine started out as a little creak and gradually got worse over time. If you can park the car on a flat surface (brakes off and in neutral) lift the hatch and bounce the rear of the car - it would sound louder from outside. A re-grease will clear it up for about 6 months but I am going to replace my links at the next service. Matt
  7. Great shots and a nice clean car... It almost seems a shame to drive it when it's that clean!
  8. I couldn't agree more, this is a car forum first - jokes and banter come second. Personally I enjoy seeing the progress members are making with their cars and believe we have a great relationship with our traders and the more experienced members (like Zmanalex) when it comes to free advice and general help. There is plenty of tat available on the internet which can be found elsewhere if desired. Very few threads are locked or deleted on this forum and I believe the mods are doing a great job maintaining a thoroughly enjoyable site. Matt
  9. Nice one Dan, the car looks fantastic I really like subtle lines you've adopted... That's exactly the kind of look I would go for if I considered a kit. You've been super busy - I still haven't got round to fitting the Y pipe I took off your hands Congratrulations with the work, Matt
  10. great thread and thanks for sharing the photos
  11. crikey mate, we didn't expect our bloody rotars to crack up like a sheila stuck behind the barbie all day. I can't remember the details now buy I seem to remember my DBA discs having three colours on the disc and I think they change colour as you reach the correct operating temp. Does this sound familar?? I have a vague memory or reading something along those lines... Sorry to see this buddy.
  12. Just caught sight of a GM on the A414 heading towards Chelmsford today - sorry about the late wave... It was around 11.30am. Later I spotted a mint black 2008 on the M25 (northbound after the A12). We exchanged a few smiles and a Anyone on here? Matt (Kuro GT with black Rota alloys).
  13. guys, guys.... What about the SOUND
  14. A custom box will be very expensive mate! A friend of mine recently had a custom 5 speed 'box built for his type R Subaru. 1st and 2nd are straight cut with an upgraded (I presume from a more modern Subaru) 3rd, 4th and 5th. He also opted for a custom final drive and uprated clutch. Parts, build and fitting come to about 6k. If I were in your shoes I would probably look out for low mileage 2nd hand / recon box. Matt
  15. Thanks Chirs, Maybe some T-cut for deeper stuff then..... Just kidding Do those pads sound ok? This is a whole new game for me. Cheers, Matt
  16. Hi guys, I am looking for some tips from those in the know when it comes to machine polishing A trusted friend of mine has offered to correct some swirls and imperfections on my Zed using his Megs G220 Dual Action polisher. I have seen examples of his work (over the past few years) and I trust him with my car. Needless to say the car will have thorough rinse, snow foam and wash before the detailing begins. Do you think the below list of pads and polishes are suitable for the Zed? Currently I am claying the car twice a year and topping up my wax (poorboys Natty paste) every two weeks. My paint is very smooth to the touch but being black some swirls are visible. Thanks all; --- The machine is a Megs G220 Dual Action polisher. I suspect I would need: 1* Lake Country 165mm light cut pad and 1* Lake Country 100mm light cut spot pad 1* Lake Country 165mm polishing pad and 1* Lake Country 100mm polishing spot pad Depending on how soft your paint is, I may need an extra 165mm light cut or polishing pad as they tend to clog up pretty quick and you need a pad change to keep things clean. I would use Menzerna Super Intensive Polish (although I need to check how much I have left). Followed by BlackFire Gloss Enhancing Polish Followed by BlackFire Wet Diamond Paint Protection – I’ll do a couple of coats. Or I can substitute in the BlackFire stuff with whatever Poorboys you want me to use... BlackHole Glaze followed by Nattys is a good combo.
  17. It's tough question and something I often consider myself when browsing pistonheads and the like... Putting your budget aside I would ask myself the following q's; What do you want/need from your next car? More comfort / practicality? More performance? More Kudos? Or possibly something more raw, like an Exige? Would this car be a 2nd car or your primary mode of transport? Personally I would like a 996 GT3 but each to their own. And I know this would be a money pit but ohhh the sound! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1010160.htm
  18. Exactly. And I don't mind a Lambo or Bike suggesting I'm holding them up - plus you get to hear them pass - But not some wheezy 4-pot German box with an angry grill from the model they could only aspire to own. Sorry - My rant mode is disabled now
  19. I had one the other day. 09’ plate Audi A3, probably a 1.8T... I am minding my own business in the outside lane and travelling at 75, maybe 80mph within a steady stream of traffic. I noticed Mr Audi (in my mirror) joining the motorway at 90+ on the slip road and immediately darting across all three lanes with zero indication. Class After 200 yards the fool is right on my bumper, no doubt the small print on my number plate is a fascinating read... So, after washing my windscreen several times (subtle hint) this idiot remains glued to my rear. It always puzzles me though; if I did pull over would this idiot continue to intimidate every road user until he runs out of road and drops into the ocean?? Bizarre After 3 to 4 miles of this I started getting frustrated (and it’s dangerous) so I gradually slowed down, and down a touch more whilst carefully shifting into 5th and then 4th gear as smoothly possible. I watch him all the time and noticed him aggressively pull into middle lane and attempt some vigilante undertaking manoeuvre… Sadly for halfwit it’s manoeuvre I know all too well. “Stamp†my foot goes on the loud pedal and I watch him disappear into the distance. Churlish I know but after repeating this three times he gave up and settled on middle lane life with 4 cylinder friends. Back to little league for him. Btw I don't condone my behaviour but last week was a bad week for me!
  20. Mine are still in my cupboard This is worth a read: http://www.my350z.com/forum/brakes-and- ... ation.html Matt
  21. That's a very fair price If I wasn't house hunting I would bite your arm off! Matt
  22. Chris had one lying about - viewtopic.php?f=32&t=26027 Matt
  23. Hi mate, I'm running a 10" Focal (round) sub in the factory location. I mounted an MDF ring to the factory spot and attached the sub to the MDF ring. The dynamat has made a huge difference but you cannot seal the box - the seat belt winder for example is attached to the inside of the box and you can't go sealing that up!! There are LOTS of holes - I think I needed 4 rolls to cover the entire surface with one 'coat.' You will also cover the fuel pump access point - if your fuel pump fails it will be swine removing the dynamat to access it... The sub sounds great when listening to rock (fast beats etc) but not so great when you have sustained bass such as dance or garage type music. I'm an old rocker so that's fine with me but you won't get the best from your sub in that space if you're looking for pounding bass. I hope that helps! Matt
  24. Looking good buddy.... I like your sticker above the road tax, I couldn't face removing mine either and it's become a somewhat permanent fixture You front is crying out for a nice carbon splitter to really set-off the dark wheels and roof. Matt
