  1. yeah it's either that or buy a massive gazebo and see what the neighbours think
  2. Yeah damn weather! Fortunately my garage is pretty big (almost a double) so we carried out the machining inside with a nice cuppa!
  3. Cheers Shaun, it's the first time I've taken a polisher to the car so it was pretty scary! The paint looks so much darker and deeper, I am very chuffed with the results. A huge thanks to Ross from ScoobyNet.
  4. I know, if it were a dog the RSPCA would have taken it away from me… 4 months without a bath I’ve had a few personal/family issues to deal with lately and as such simply not the time. I couldn’t face subjecting her to a carwash, or supermarket grit-o-wash, so that’s that. Anyway, this weekend I have focused on the bodywork. Next weekend will be the wheels, arches, interior and engine bay. My first step was to clean the car with my Gilmour and Poorboys shampoo. I had to repeat this step, rinsing several times, to avoid swirling the paint and causing further harm. Once washed I clayed the car from bumper to bumper using a generous amount of quick detailer to lubricate. At this stage I called on my good friend Ross (armed with his Meguires G220's dual action polisher) to lend a hand. Ross had not previously detailed a 350z so we took a conservative approach using some mild Lake Country pads and Minerva polishes. This proved quite successful, removing the majority of my swirl marks, but left a few deeper scratches behind. The job was finished with Blackfire’s gloss enhancing polish and a final coat of poorboy’s natty paste. I have to admit that I really fancy treating myself to a dual action polisher now! Oh, and the halogen light was a steal at 25 quid from B&Q, I highly recommend one but you will cry when first see how bad your paint really is. 18 months ago I was happy with a spounge & bucket… This is becoming another addictive habit! I hope you enjoy some of the pictures, garage shots only I am afraid… http://s484.photobucket.com/albums/rr20 ... 10_detail/ And I know the wheels and arches are filthy!!! Cheers for reading, Matt
  5. He's a very funny chap, check out his site: (Be warned - lots of foul language / political / religious content). http://www.27bslash6.com/overdue.html The letter to the bank is very funny Matt.
  6. Two are fine mate as you still get the stereo imaging. If you were running a decent HIFI at home (for listening to music only) you would go for a good quality stereo amplifier and listen to two speakers in front of you. I believe the theory comes from the fact that generally, we listen to things in front of us. Think 'going to a football match' or 'to the theatre' and as such our hearing is better suited to that. If you’re going to spend £100 on a pair of comps for the doors you will have more than enough sound! The rears just blast into the headrests too so you’re not really getting much benefit from them. Plus spending £100 on 2 pairs (of speakers) will obviously limit to you to slightly cheaper equipment I hope that helps, Matt
  7. Try someone like Sextons or another web retailer to search for headunits. You can compare prices and features this way without doing too much work. Are you looking at a single or double DIN head unit on that budget? A double DIN on that budget would drastically limit your range. For 200 pounds you will find some very capable single DIN units (most recommend Alpine) but you will also need to buy a facia plate to accept the smaller unit. This link is very handy, Rob should be on commission for this! viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16403 The front speakers are 6.5" but fitting them can be a pain in the arse, have a browse through the ICE & Electronics threads. Most people tend to disconnect the rears and spend more cash on the fronts, I have done this so I am not sure what size the rears are - again you should be able to find out by having a browse through other's threads. I am running Focal comps in my doors, quite a few people regard these as good speakers. Good luck, Matt
  8. Ironically 95% of the general population would consider any modified car a chav-chariot… Regardless of a the car being a ‘maxed up’ old hot hatch or carefully tuned 911 - the fact is we are ALL appealing to a very limited audience when we chose to modify our cars. A close friend owns a wonderful 2 door Impreza type R, the engine and chassis owes him over 30k but the car is near stock from the outside. I can assure you that he sees many dreadful Imprezas on the road but this does not distract him when enjoying his machine on the street, track or driveway. I can assure you that ‘his forum’ is a dreadful place but he simply filters out the garbage, ignoring the threads that hold no appeal. I for one still smile when I see mint, standard 205 GTI or clean Mazda RX7. For me the tatty examples out there do nothing to distract my pleasure when I see a classic; in standard trim or sympathetically improved. I wouldn’t consider selling unless I noticed a significant number of poorly modified 350’s on the road and felt that this somehow distracted me from the car’s finer points and wider appeal to the general public. One can always ignore the next ‘WOT MPG’ thread and read one of the more interesting posts if ones prefers. Dan, how often do you pull in for fuel and still hear those magical words? “Nice car mate.†That should be all the evidence you need that the Zed is still a desirable car to the general public Matt.
  9. If you're on fantasy.premierleague.com you can join as many leagues as you like (using the same team).
  10. Now I'm not a betting man, but I'd put some money on the fact its sold. A more beneficial question would be "if this doesn't sell, could you contact me Beavis"
  11. Cheers Mike, that's a really good point. At lot of stores charge between 6-8 pounds per month...
  12. Thanks again for all your input chaps, I especially like the lighting 3fiddy. I'll go for a browse at the weekend to see what I like and then hunt around on-line to check pricing. Matt.
  13. Cheers guys, there is lot to be said when it comes to trusting your senses and not getting caught up in the jargon. I think a trip to Comet or Dixons is in order this weekend Matt.
  14. Hi guys, Does anyone here know much about audio-visual stuff? I'm all at sea when it comes to such things!! Basically I am after a new TV for standard TV and DVD use; I don't own a games consol and don't intend to buy one in the future. I don't tend to watch much TV but I do enjoy my sports and I like to watch the odd movie. I ‘think’ the refresh rate is pretty important as I want to avoid that nasty juddering you see when Lewis Hamilton speeds past or England hit a crisp 4 off the bat. I realise the latter example is becoming a rarity but I like to enjoy it all the same! The TV would be connected to sky non HD and a Sony DVD player via HDMI. In summary I am looking to spend about 500-600 on a 32/37/40 inch screen size. I'm not too fussed about the brand, an LG or Samsung will be fine if the features/spec justify the choice but no silly brands you’ve never heard off. Oh, and what is the importance of the '1080' number or the 100 Hz number? Cheers all, Matt
  15. +1, don't give them give them away. Some muppet with a Saxo will buy them on Ebay. Or try pistonheads...
  16. Thanks for checking Ian, I'll give that a miss then. GLWTS, Matt

  18. cheers mate. I'm just about to head out but consider it taken if it fits Then I can bump my footy tickets above your thread cheers.
  19. Hi Ian, Is the internal diamter ok for replacing the pipe that leaves the left hand side of your rad cap? I.e. the one that goes left parallel with your Greddy & Gallery logo? I have the full samco kit but I am missing this piece. Cheers, Matt
  20. Hi all, I overbought some England tickets for the final qualifier before the world cup. These are genuine England tickets sitting in the official England supporters end, see bay 137. http://www.wembleystadium.com/NR/rdonly ... Plan08.pdf No scam here, you will have the pleasure of sitting next to me and roaring on the three lions on to South Africa 2 available at face value;£49.10 inc booking fee etc. Please spare me from the dreaded ticket touts and drop me a PM. First PM (not first response to the thread) takes the glory. Cheers, Matt
  21. Hi Clark, You might want to email ZMANALEX. See thread: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=27436 Alex might be able to run through some option with you before considering replacement... I'm surprised your mechanic didn't suggest changing the flywheel at the same time to save on labour... Good luck, Matt
