  1. I did a tour of the RR factory back in the summer with the PH Sunday Service lot, I was both impressed by how incredibly simple it is but also just how much attention you can see they pay to the cars. Just a shame there were boxes everywhere with BMW plastered over the side, ruined it somewhat
  2. To be fair any manufacturer can have issues with the odd car as a Friday afternoon special, regardless of price point. Look at the issues Simon George is still having with his spanky new 458 for example. I genuinely don't think you can buy a bad car these days. Even the joke that used to be the Korean cars is now as out of date as the Skoda ones, as their quality is right up there with the mid-range stuff now.
  3. Dare I ask how much tyres are?
  4. Best way to be I used to run with the a/c off in the Zed for most of the time, but on the Pork I leave it on all the time. I have no idea why my attitude has changed, if anything you;d have thought it would be the other way around trying to save a few pennies to run the more expensive car! It's always on in my truck though, that thing steams up so quickly otherwise for some reason.
  5. You want the car to run rich when cold really as it helps protect the engine until everything's nice and warm. FWIW a 3 min drive to work is likely to do more harm than good to the engine as it's never getting a chance to circulate warm fluids properly, which you're seeing as vastly increased fuel consumption. I would definitely look into other means of transport if possible, even a £150 shed of a car just to get you there and back could cost you less in the long term. Another issue (by design) is that with rich running at start you're also looking at a higher risk of damaging the cats too, which isn't going to be a cheap fix either.
  6. I still like GP Story
  7. I was gutted when Seb couldn't continue, I was hoping he was going to prove a lot of people wrong and work his way back through the field, would've made for a fantastic spectacle. Good to see Lewis smiling again though, and also for Alonso to congratulate him. As much as I despise Alcocko, he drove the nuts off that red car today, fair play
  8. Claims that "all Android touchscreen stuff" is non-responsive are of course utter garbage... I guess swishing a static grid of icons backwards and forwards gives some people a boner Sure the Android UI and scrolling aren't quite as smoothly animated, but for major functionality like browsing it can match Apple's latest and greatest: So basically you're agreeing with me then? The screens aren't as smoothly animated and they simply aren't as responsive, but they do just as much if not more. If that's what you want then an Android tablet is clearly the way forward, but for the vast majority who aren't as tech savvy and don't need the faff then the iPad seems the better buy to me.
  9. The iPad responds exactly when you touch it, and exactly where you touched it. I have to second guess my Galaxy Tab every single time, as well as wait for it to have a cup of tea before it decides to respond or not. It's the exact same issue I have with all Android touchscreen stuff, their screen and tech just simply isn't a patch on Apple, regardless of how much more you can theoretically do with it. That said, pop into a shop and try them both out, you may find the trade-off in price worth it. I'm probably going to flog my Galaxy Tab cheap soon anyway because I can't be doing with it any more.

  11. They're f*cking sh*t. If you want a tablet, get an iPad. The others are pure evil and I hate my Galaxy Tab as much as I hate things like chavved up riceboxes, mixed tyres and damp farts in packed lifts. I miss my iPad so much but the missus won't give it back to me now.
  12. 1. Driving style and track surface is the only way to manage tyre consumption unfortunately. If you're nice and smooth and don't spend every corner sideways then you'll use less rubber, just as you would on the road. The only caveat with that is that track days are a great time to explore the limits of your car in relative safety, which means that sliding around to an extent is a given! You'll also get far more tyre wear (3x to 10x est) on an abrasive surface on an airfield like Elvington than you will on a proper track like Silverstone. There is also the issue of what tyres you're using. A set of 452 or T1R will overheat and melt within a few laps on track so you'll kill those off pretty quickly, whereas something like the RE050A are much harder wearing (and also give you more grip too). Stuff like the R888s in the harder compounds give you the most grip which I've found also gives you the least tyre wear, as you don't slip so much. Trouble is they're £800 all round and you only get 4mm on the tyre to start with, so it's swings and roundabout with those. Tyre pressures are also critical, as underinflation leads to the shoulders wearing and overinflation leads to the middle going bald, so it's important to keep that in mind too. 2. No way to tell without more information. I could kill a set 4mm set off in one session (and have!) let alone one day, but I could also make them last 2-3 days if I was careful. 3. I had an almost identical setup and after 15K on the road + 6 ish trackdays I had more meat on them than I ever thought I would. Granted I'm not a heavy braker on track anyway, but I would've expected mine to have done that again easily. One thing I will say is that you're getting IMHO the best brake setup for the car available which so many people forget in aim of chasing 2-3bhp, so well done!
  13. Snatch their hands off for the trade in price, and everyone should own an Elise or derivative at some point in their lives. Bit odd you preferred the 1.6 to the 1.8, given the relative power deliveries up to 6K rpm, but each to their own. Personally I don't like the Special Yellow Bus front end of the S2.5, but each to their own, they're all great cars. I'm not sure I'd want a CR as a DD though, a lightly used 1ZZ S with Touring or Super Touring pack would be a better buy I suspect from that point of view.

    Chassis bracing

It's a must-have upgrade on the Zed IMHO. I had the whole kit, have a search back through my posts to find what I thought about the kit, but here's one for starters and because I'm nice here's another.

    GPS Tracker

I've got a Cobra Trak 5 on mine (well, it's a rebranded Porsche one but that's what it really is) and it's awesome but a faff. Very sensitive though and I'm confident that it works as it should, only £210 per year too. Tbh though I'd be moving insurers if they want a tracker on a 370Z, that's ridiculous. Do you live in the Bronx?!

  17. I'd just like my wedding on Christmas Eve to go without a problem. That would be enough for me this year. However, since that's far too sensible I'd also like Michelin to announce N-rated versions of those wonder Pilot Super Sports and a pair of 235/35/19 and a pair of 305/30/19 to be sitting at the end of my bed Christmas morning. Actually that might be a bit awkward since I'll be in the wedding suite at the hotel then, so if Santa can drop them off at my house instead that would be great!
  18. 1M, not M1
  19. Z4MCs are far rarer than any Zed, you sure you're not just seeing regular Z4Cs? When on the move and on the fun roads, a Z4MC is going to be significantly quicker than a 370, but again it depends on what you're after. Running costs will be more for the BMW, but I strongly suspect worth every penny and the costs will be offset by the lesser depreciation costs.
  20. No contest, Z4M every day. It's a stunning design that will not date IMHO, and whilst the 370Z is no doubt a great car in it's own right it cannot compete with that wonderful straight six and snicky gear change. As ever, drive both and see what you think as you may prefer the fussiness of the Zed interior to the blandness of the Bee-Em, I suspect you'll vastly prefer the drive of the German. They just look so good
  21. £500 incl tyres so far on eBay
  22. Do the tyres, and get something decent this time If it still doesn't solve it, then it's the wheels themselves and at least you'll have a decent set of tyres you can then sell on to recoup the cost if you want to put the crappy tyres back on. The other option would be to source some wheels from eBay, but then you're back on unknown quantities but will be half the price for a set of wheels.
  23. No no no no no no NO This is a classic racing Porsche: That other thing is a monstrosity.
  24. All Ghillied Up
  25. Seriously? What kind of retard would actually sit there and watch crap like that on FB? I hate MP games so I'll pick this up in a couple of years to whizz through the SP bit over a weekend. Still haven't played Blops yet for the same reason. It's such a shame they concentrate so heavily on the MP bit as the CoD games used to be a day-one for me, but I was bitten so harshly over MW2 and the poor 3 hours of SP gameplay from it that I'd rather save the cash now. MW1 still remains the absolute pinnacle of the series for me, it was perfect in every single way.
