Not specifically a 996TT with the X50 kit, but in terms of cars with bang per buck you really can't go wrong with them right now. Mezger lump so pretty bulletproof, coolant hoses can pop which is an engine out job to fix for about £3-5K at indy depending on how involved you want to get, gearbox (either manual or tip) will last forever, interior is functional but well built and shouldn't be too worn, avoid any cars with PCCB as the early ones were known for cracking with a £10-15K replacement bill, steel ones are about £1-2K to replace all round depending on whether you go with OPC or aftermarket stuff that's better. Other than that they're about as reliable as a water cooled 911 gets, and with a very good chassis underneath. 4WD too if that's of any concern, but in normal driving it's more an 80/20 split IIRC. X50 is well worth seeking out, and if you buy well you shoudn't really lose money on one.

Falkens are budget tyres. They are not the best tyres. If you want predictability, go for the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. If you want the best in grip, get the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. If you want cheap rubber that'll be legal and last a fair while, get the Falkens. All of this info is available if you'd bother searching. Do you know why there's loads of threads asking people to search? Because no-one ever does and just starts a new post, so congratulations on making it more difficult for the next person who actually makes the effort to search by giving them yet another thread to have to read through.

Bugger, the OPC configurator isn't up on their systems until the early part of next week so I couldn't get a price for my spec today Not sure I want to know what my car is worth as a trade-in though!

See also: "I really want to go to a meet, any nearby?" "Nope, but feel free to start your a thread and get one going!" "Naaaaaahhhhh, can't be bothered" FFS THEN DON'T MOAN ABOUT THERE BEING NO MEETS IN YOUR AREA THEN Anyone else finding this thread really therapeutic?

If you look at the individual options, they're actually quite reasonable, I just want a lot of them! For what you get from the car, even at £60K it's still good value. Not as good as at £45K granted, that really is a bargain at that price, and it's not as if it's bare bones like an Elise at that spec either. I'm down at my local OPC tomorrow, I'm going to get them to price it up for me properly.

What should my oil pressure be? What should my oil level be? What oil should I use? I swear, the worst thing Nissan ever did was put an oil pressure gauge in the car, because it just means that numpties keep asking questions about it!

If you've got an iOS device then download the Meguiars app for it, loads of videos that show you exactly what to use and how to use it

Must be covered in here somewhere Definitely go aftermarket unless insurance is a no-go.

Sorry to hear about the car mate, but as long as you're okay that's the main thing. I don't mean to be insensitive, but did you get any pics of the damage? Would be interesting to see what a 20mph crash looks like, especially to write the car off with chassis damage.

I want to race my friends on the road, how can I give my car another millionty horsepower?
-
How big a set of wheels can I put on my car? Where can I get some tints to block out 100% of my vision from around the car? I've got mixed tyres on my car, why is my handling rubbish? I've got a heavy right foot, why does the traction light keep kicking in? Why is my 2003 Cat C Zed with 175K on the clock not selling at £22000? (linked to Ricey's no.10!) Oooh I could on for hours

My ideal spec is going to come out IRO £62K.

Enough here to make me not want to use them Use your credit card if you must, but I wouldn't. -
It's really not. The side and rear is completely different, and as for the interior... Only as similar as the 370 is to the 350.

Looks great on black cars at shows. Looks retarded when being used on the road as it reduces your visibility so much.

Rubbish. I can overtake perfectly well in my diesel truck that weighs over 2.5tons and has a powerband you can thread through the eye of a needle it's that narrow. It's all about forward planning and knowing your vehicle. It's lazier overtaking in the Zed, granted, but no more easier than in an S2K.

It worried Nissan too, that's why they hiked the price up £20K! "Don't worry sir, the gearbox won't explode now after two uses of LC, however we are going to have to charge you slightly more for the car now...!"

It's utterly, utterly stunning. This is my next car after the 997, I have no doubts about that. It's breathtaking, and shows that Porsche have some really talented design guys there, albeit being able to pinch stuff from my favourite supercar ever, the CGT. Seriously, I cannot wait for these to arrive. The second I start getting bored with mine, I'm swapping. If I had the spare cash I'd be getting my name down for a build slot now!

The difference it made to my media experience in going from 1.5Mb to 37Mb via BT Inifinity was immense, I can happily stream full HD movies from the PSN to the PS3 now without any waiting or buffering issues at all, it's fantastic!

It's only gutless if you don't use it properly! Rag an S2K to 9K rpm and it's more than a match for a Zed, especially if you put it anywhere near a track. I tested an S2K before I bought the Zed, and I still bought the Zed. I drove an S2K on track after I bought the Zed, and vastly preferred it in that setting. Both great cars, whichever way you look at it.
