  1. I see what you did there. No, genuinely, I don't see why anyone sees this as an issue. I wasn't trying to be clever or witty (I know, there's a first! ), I really can't understand why any one would be surprised or make a fuss over this. As a point of balance though, did you know that the top 1% of earners in this country pay almost 30% of all income tax?
  2. If only we had the balls to do that in this country. Good on 'em, I say.
  3. But that's what I mean when I say driving to the conditions. At that point, there was clearly too much snow or ice on the ground to enable the safe operation of the car, and you shouldn't have been driving it. Winter tyres help, no doubt, but they're no substitute for common sense. No offense meant! If you live in an area where there's lots of snow often, then a cheapy FWD or 4x4 shed is the way to go. If you live in the south where we only get a few bad days here or there, just leave the car at home.
  4. As always, match the fronts or change all round. MPSS are expensive, but you more than make your money back in the length of time they'll last you. The question shouldn't be "What's popular?", the question should be "What do I want from a tyre?". Answer that, and then you can be recommended. Personally I enjoyed the VUS as a hooning tyre since you get masses of communication, although that's offset by lack of grip compared to the 050A or MPSS.
  5. Couldn't have put it better myself. Don't get me wrong, the standard BRZ86 isn't a slow car if driven properly, but the engine just isn't charismatic enough to make you want to use it. Having the grunt of FI should remedy that nicely.
  6. It's a lego brick on wheels. Distinctive yes, but pretty? No chance. The Elise is pretty, the VX is like the ugly ginger stepchild
  7. It really isn't. It's just more slang, as according to a very quick Google (as I had no idea what it meant) it's not in any of the proper dictionaries. And I'm not including the Urban one. About time a school did something formal like this, although it should be noted that it's an academy. Jo does this with her kids all the time, and refuses to answer their questions unless they formulate their words properly. They are from 'Arlow though, so that can be a bit of a struggle We were banned from using the word "bodge" when I was at school. To be fair to the teacher though, we did use it incessantly and it must've driven her up the wall
  8. Do people only have accidents in the winter then? Didn't realise that.
  9. It's just a car. Drive to the conditions as always and you'll be fine.
  10. 1. Choptop 2. I4N 3. Ekona +1 Yeah, go on then, count me and Jo in
  11. Sp what warranty are they going to give you on the engine repairs? I would expect a minimum of one year, personally.
  12. Wow, that's an awful lot of black plastic Why don't car manufacturers just let us see the oily parts? They're the best bits!
  13. I don't want to own something that ugly. Normally I'm quite happy to buy ugly cars (VXR, Zed ragtop) but only if they've got everything else where it matters. In this case, the drivetrain lets it down so much that I wouldn't contemplate it, no matter how good the rest of it may be. My loss perhaps, and I'd happily have a go in one, but that's about it.
  14. Lights are hideous. Engine isn't exotic enough. Questions over fragility and especially dealer experience. Other than that, it's stunning. I've no interest in buying one though.
  15. Probably, but I think they really started to gain weight due to the safety stuff that the EU/US wanted adding in. An HPAS system will be heavier than a non-HPAS unit (it's a common mod among the MX5 lot), but I'm more concerned with the fact that they have to keep a mech unit in just in case the DBW system fails. That just seems counter productive to me. The only EPAS system I'm really familiar with is the Porsche one, and whilst it didn't bother me at first at all, the more I drive the new range the more it puts me off. Probably a good thing really, else I'd only go and buy a Boxster tomorrow otherwise Need to try the GT3 really, but that'll never happen.
  16. One of the few racers I have any time for on social media. He came across as a really nice guy, and his talent was immense: I've no doubt he'd have won the Supercup this year.
  17. How can they ever do away with a traditional rack if it's needed as a fail safe? You're right, you could convert LHD to RHD easily, but if it handles like crap then who cares? In theory I have no issues with EPAS or DBW, but in practice the former just isn't as good as a hydraulic one and the other benefits are negligible. Much the same as with hybrid, electric and hydrogen cars.

    Syron???????????

And yet, so many people on here buy massive wheels and envelop them in cheap rubber too. I'll never grasp the sense in spending £2K on shiny wheels, then £500 in rubber.
  19. Yes, because everyone knows that post count is directly related to how correct you are. Internet rule number one, innit. You're quite right, you don't have to prove anything. That's pretty much how the Jesus fan club survives, and funnily enough I don't care much for them either.

    Syron???????????

    FFS *facepalm*
  21. Awful news, hope you get back on your feet and sorted soon chaps. Lols at fire sale
  22. Excellent, so it's a system that feels odd and adds weight. Sorry, how is that progress?
