To be fair, given that not every car has one can lead to this question. If a chassis is designed without one then it may not need or benefit from one (the Elise is a good example, as is the 911), if a car was designed with one in mind then removing it can cause some horrendous handling side effects. If a car did not have one by design but does not have the chassis strength to not need one at all, then there is pretty much no downside to fitting one as the extra weight is nothing compared to the stiffening benefits.

Because they have a tiny factory making these, and they wanted to pump out all the cheaper common models of the Ranger first. I've no idea why, mine's not exactly a completely different chassis or anything, it's just a set of wheels, a bigger engine and some bling on the inside! Anyway, I spoke too soon. It's not actually with the dealer yet at all, and they have no idea when it will be. Apparently I'm getting a call next week to discuss things. Oh boy, am I looking forward to that.

997.1 engine is essentially the same as the 996. Less prone to d-chunk issues, but the IMS and bore scoring applies just the same sadly. Likewise the 986/987.1 Boxster and 987.1 Cayman. Personally, I'd buy the best condition high-mileage 996 you can find. Less IMS risk as if it's not gone in 100k miles it probably won't, and pretty much zero depreciation.

What are you on about? I love the Zed, that's why I bought one. Just because I don't think it's The Greatest Car Ever Made In The History Of The World and can see the faults in it, doesn't mean I don't love them still. For £10K for a practical 2 seat sports car without any potential massive costs, there is no better option for the keen driver. Any better for you? Sheesh.

Do you have any idea of the history in motorsport that Vauxhall have? I suspect it's the other way around, Nissan would love the heritage that came out of Luton! I must admit I was a bit in the dark too until I went to the Heritage Museum for a PHSS last year, fascinating look back over the years. Definitely worth a visit

Any RR (FF or RRS) is something I have no interest in as a sporty car fan. All RRs are great in their own right, but that's as far as it goes.

Depends on other outgoings, and whether you're happy with finance. Some people never want to use finance at all which can limit their options, but they may have no mortgage so have plenty of spare cash. Others may need finance because of a large mortgage, however they will be able to get a newer/better car because of this. Some have kids, some like holidays... Too many variables. All I know is I spend waaaaay too much money on cars
