  1. Knob jockey of the highest order.
  2. You're going to regret that matey, but congrats anyway, new cars are always things to celebrate What you save on finance you're going to pay out more in fuel, but at least you'll be having more fun doing it!
  3. There's alignment, and then there's alignment. Heavy wheels won't help though!
  4. He wanted to leave as he was fed up being played out of position. Seems fair enough to me, not unlike someone leaving a job because instead of managing accounts, they were being asked to do the filing all the time. Money is not the driving force, I'm pretty sure of that. Of course, the top guys who have the choice of Chelsea @£100K pa or Barca @£200K pa might well go for the Spanish side, but then so would every other single person in the whole world. I'd rather stay warming the bench at Chelsea where I might get a chance to break into the first team and prove how good I was and win the title, rather than drop down a league and play every day and win nothing of note ever. That's just common sense. I think you're also forgetting that for every Rooney or Sterling there's a James Chester or a Michael Kightly, who really aren't earning the mega bucks despite playing in the same league. A footballer's career is a very short one, even if they were purely after the money I don't blame them at all for that: They're one bad tackle away from never playing again, and then what do they do?
  5. Probably not a lot of help posting that in the J17 thread though.
  6. That's what being part of a team is though. Even if all you did was provide competition to make sure the player ahead of you kept his form, then you had a crucial part to play. I don't buy into the gumpf that all footballers are only in it for the money. They got into the sport because they enjoyed watching it and playing it, it's like saying fans only support the team because they really like wearing the nice shirts every year. If the market will pay them millions for doing the job they love, then good luck to them. Ask any player whether he'd swap his money for a league or CL winners medal, and I'd bet my house they'd say yes. Hell, most supporters would swap their money just to see their team win either!
  7. Right, sorry, I completely misunderstood you. My bad. Really, the bigger issue is that Liverpool had a great year last year and still failed, and this year they've gone backwards massively. What player wouldn't want to move on after that? I just think that Sterling has been spectacularly badly advised, and hopefully he can see that and sort it out.
  8. Did you actually just compare Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the two greatest footballers of recent times, with Raheem Sterling?! I know the point you're making, but Ronaldo had been with Utd for years and his dream was to play for RM who were desperate to sign him. I don't think anyone is knocking down Liverpool's door for Sterling.
  9. He's not likely to become the finished article stuck at a club playing in Europe on Thursday nights
  10. I'd leave Liverpool if I were him. All the best players gone, not likely to improve in the near future, other teams are significantly stronger and his career doesn't look like being particularly spectacular at this point.
  11. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA   You will, trust me. You might save 2mpg, but other than that there'll be no difference. Which is why you should get the STi!
  12. Good brakes are the single best mod you can do. Stopping quicker lets you go quicker, will make more of a difference than an extra 20bhp would
  13. I'm telling you now, from personal experience, if you buy another decent car before you buy the house you're going to regret doing so for the rest of your life. Go and pick something fun but cheap, like an MX5 or whatever. Go enjoy something you've not had yet, that you can buy for cash, and sell on after you move for what you paid for it. You may not love it, but it'll be both more fun than a proper shed or spending more on the mortgage than you actually need to.
  14. Properly probably doesn't include upside down
  15. Miles are irrelevant, buy on condition. Same applies to the Z4, I'd get a 100k miler in good nick with history over a 70k one that was a bit tatty. Can you not travel a bit? I'm sure I've seen STi hatches in your budget further south.
  16. Also, we told you that you'd get bored of a diesel
  17. I would much rather have an Impreza (has to be the STi though, the WRX really isn't that interesting) than a Z4 3L. Sod the badge, it's a hugely fun car that I think looks great and won't open you up to nasty big bills like the BMW can. However, everyone is right, if you're after a mortgage then you HAVE to cut down. Why do you think I'm running an 11 year old barge instead of the 911?! Get the mortgage, get the house, then get the car. Much easier to get a good car loan with a big mortgage than a good mortgage with a big car loan*. *Big being relative, of course.

Whilst I don't like the GT-R wheels on there either, those 5 spoke ones looked cheap and nasty so you did the right thing in changing Love the little touches like the small bits you've painted inside, just enough to make a huge difference. Nice work
  19. These threads always interest me, y'know. The OP's post I completely understand. A first comment about his specific experience with nothing remotely related to costs, end of. Then like all insurance threads it descends into a load of people naming companies that gave them a great price, or ones that gave them a crap price, or ones they were with 10 years ago or ones they've only paid their money to last week. None of this is particularly helpful, despite the best intentions of the posters. Insurance has so many nuances, that it's absolutely impossible to say who is or isn't going to give a good price. Even then, you may have the cheapest premium but what about excess? Windscreen cover? Mods covered for their replacement value? Ignoring the basics like postcode, age, driving history etc all making a huge difference to the premium. Whilst there's definitely value in reporting on customer service as in this case, I've always felt that actual price discussions add very little to these things.
  20. Get him to knock £130 off, £80 for the above and £50 for your time.
  21. You can put a plate on retention instantly, via the DVLA website. Tell him to stop being a lazy ass and go do that NOW (actually, during office hours only for some bizarre reason), and the you can buy the car. He'll tell you what plates it has on, then you tax and insure on those. Don't try and do it yourself, it's going to end up being a PITA if you do. Make him do the leg work if he wants to keep the plate
