  1. Stuff that's awesome usually is.
  2. Pop the head off and give the pin a tap with a hammer, usually frees them up. Head will either unscrew from the base by hand, or might have a grub screw holding it if an older one. Note just remove the head, not the whole valve!
  3. Used 987 Cayman is the same as a 370, and a much better car.
  4. They may not care, but she will need to disclose EVERY option to them. Except the paint, as guards is a standard colour.
  5. You don't have an air valve in the loft on the heating pipe work somewhere, by any chance? Will look like a small copper or brass header tank with a small nipple on it, will be the highest point in the system usually.
  6. You should never use PTFE on threaded connections like this, as that's not where they're designed to seal. The washers will be fine
  7. Oh, no real brand to worry about, I couldn't even name a brand! Just whatever your local merchant has will be fine. It'll be a half inch float valve you're asking for, with float and washers. You can reuse the float if it's not broken, but for about 50p why would you?
  8. Piece of cake, assuming the valves hold. Just buy a whole new float valve, they're cheap enough not to worry about just replacing bits of it. It'll come with the correct washers, or it should do anyway: If not, ask your merchant to give them to you as well. Simply isolate the water supply, then using a couple of adjustable spanners or grips or whatever you have to hand, undo the nut connecting the feed pipe to the valve. Careful when you remove it, as there will likely be a small red fibre washer you really don't want to lose! If you want to get a spare, not the worst idea, it's called a tap connector fibre washer. Then using the spanners, undo the two nuts either side of the tank wall holding the valve in place. Pull it out, noting which side the washer/s is/are (one is fine, should be the wet side of the wall, some plumbers like to use two so one either side, neither is wrong), then simply reassemble the new one in exactly the same way. You want the nuts holding the valve in place to be quite right, but assuming they're plastic don't go mad as you can strip the threads. Do the nut up on the feed pipe, remembering that little red washer, then turn back on. You'll almost certainly have to adjust the valve to get the correct water height in the tank, this may be done either at the end of the arm near the ball OR at the end nearest the tank wall. Either way it'll be two nuts, one to adjust and one to lock, it's very obvious what you'll need to do. If you want to grab a pic of the old and the new, I can talk you through it more accurately if you like.
  9. Genuinely humbled by the responses here. All I can say is thank you, it means a lot.
  10. I'll take a stab at the 2.7 with no PASM? Looks quite tall, and I think they're the Cayman S standard wheels.
  11. You do realise you can get it worked on anywhere and keep the warranty perfectly intact? As long as OEM or equivalent quality parts are used, any registered garage can work on it happily.
  12. For a gain of precisely zero horsepower, is it worth the risk? Tell him not to be so silly, and put the intake in a more sensible place.
  13. They're a consumable, they should be changed every four years. Do you only do your oil every 70k miles too? Or your air filter?
  14. Yeah, they won't Change them every four years.
  15. No-one can possibly realise how steep that banking is, until you see it in person.
  16. A little bit Best sensible money sports car you can buy. Same as the 987 was, and the 986... The Zed isn't even in the same ballpark. It's like comparing the Zed to a Fiesta ST.
  17. I have no idea if that's a serious comment or not!
  18. If only they did an Aventador with a manual...
  19. I'm actually quite drunk replying to this right now. Box o' wine ftw!
  20. Has there actually been a decent heavyweight fight for years? Haye vs Valuev was entertaining, but only because of the size difference. Sadly, the heavyweight division really isn't that great these days.
  21. Exactly what I did. Granted, I knew Grundy and StevoD from on here, but you never really know what people will be like in real life. Luckily everyone I chatted with was awesome, even folks I'd never met before, and people on other stands were so friendly as well. I felt bad walking past one guy who had clearly bought enough food to feed an army, giving away freshly cooked burgers, but I was so stuffed to eat that I couldn't fit anything else in! I'd actually argue that the Jap scene is the friendliest one I know, or certainly on a par with the Lotus one. That's very high praise indeed. Never be afraid to go and start a conversation.p, you'd be surprised at how many folks are willing to chat about card for hours on end to complete strangers
  22. Mucho respect to Grundy for making such an awesome site, I feel privileged to be a part of it and hope you guys enjoy reading as much as I did writing
