  1. I don't know anything about these things So how does all this work without a static IP then?

    Dear Santa - 350Z

Go on, what was low-ish mileage?
  3. Only VGA res though, which I think is going to be a little low for my tastes. Good shout though, now I know what to be searching for!
  4. Tbh I've no idea as I stopped playing it ages ago, but there was an update from Konami the other week that made reference to it. I only glanced over as I'm very unlikely to go back to the game now.
  5. Actually I'd not thought of looking in the app store, good call.
  6. Fair enough. I still wouldn't release the video if it were me, but that's the OP's choice not mine.
  7. Also, you don't get all the good stuff if you have nukes.
  8. No company will tell you how they discipline their employees, and tbh neither should they. Focus on getting your car fixed, not what was said between a couple of meatheads. Sticks and stones won't mend a car, or something like that.
  9. Also, b*llocks to the rest of you, but also thank you for not letting me down
  10. If they're in budget, then that would work for me. What do you use?
  11. You need to get an accurate oil level measure. Drop the oil then measure it that way, at least you know 100% what was in there.
  12. Oh dear god this thread has the possibility of going downhill very quickly, and I know no-one will believe my reasons for this but I'm going to ask anyway I've never streamed a webcam in my life. I have precisely zero idea how to do it, what I need, who to go with etc. Anyone have any idea or recommendations for me at all? Basically I want to set one up in the mancave to keep an eye on the cats and see how they interact during the day, and even a dumb always-on with no record or motion detection would do me I think (unless there's compelling reasons to go that route) as I'm quite happy just to drop in and drop out of the viewing during the day. It might be nice to set it to record when I leave the house and then stop it when I come home, if that's easy enough to do though. Quality doesn't have to be amazing, I'm guessing that 720p would be fine. Audio isn't needed right now, just video. Budget? Well, I guess I can go to about £50 for the cam but I'd ideally like to keep the software side free if possible. In terms of security I'd want to keep it so that people can't just view it unless I give them access, however I'd want to view from any browser. I don't have a static IP either, which I know makes life interesting. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.

    Tyres?

No, brakes have an important effect on braking: However, in overall STOPPING distance the tyres would have a greater effect on anything other than repeated runs. It's important to balance upgrades equally, but if you're looking to improve stopping power then do the tyres first. Same as if you want to improve cornering speeds, or acceleration: Do the tyres. That's the only thing connecting you to the road, hence the huge difference. There is quite literally no downside to putting the MPSS on your car. Well, unless you're going to drive over a load of nails and puncture them ever 2 miles, or are going to drift the snot out of them on a DWYB day.

    Tyres?

Once you can lock the wheels, you're past the point where tyres can make a difference. It's harder to do that than people think, especially with ABS being fitted everywhere these days. It's important to upgrade brakes to reduce fade, but you'll get more improvement in stopping power from tyres than from the brakes. In answer to your question, I would put £10 of my own money on the eBay brakes with MPSS stopping shorter over one stop than the Goodyears with CC discs. Over 50 stops, the CC discs will start to make their effectiveness shown. It's not about the driver, it's about the unknown. On track sure, I'd want to get 100% out of the car at 10/10ths, but on the road I want the ability to stop or move quickly when Dippy Doris pulls out in front of me. That's where you get the real benefit, even if you're not a Hamilton. And I'm definitely not!

    Tyres?

    They don't. Not even close.

    Tyres?

Yes, because you'll get 50% more tyre life and also have the ability to brake or get out of the way when a muppet does something daft in front of you
  17. I'd be very surprised if ES Group underwrite their own insurance. They'd be utterly crazy if they did, and I don't think they're that bonkers.
  18. Absolutely no legal reason to not have that footage in the public domain, regardless of criminal or civil action. That said, I would still keep it private. Even if this is resolved to your satisfaction, I wouldn't release the footage.
  19. Given how often Jalopnik complain about ad breaks during the races, I think I'll pass.
  20. Not really, no. They'll want to save their costs, and right now they can go back to the garage with the footage and get it done for free: If they go elsewhere, it's coming directly out of their profit and they've already paid for it once. Anyone would do exactly the same.
  21. BBC coverage has been sh*t since Sky started up. Once again, there's a reason that Sky become the go-to people for sports and no-one actually objects to paying the money for it. They're simply the very best at what they do. Regardless of whether you like the presenters or not, the overall package just wasn't very good. It'll be interesting to see what C4 do with it, but it won't tale me away from Sky.
  22. *coffee --> keyboard* Thanks for the kind words mate, appreciate that.
  23. The only colour you could legally change them to is white, which would make the exercise a little pointless so I wouldn't worry about it.
  24. No, just go and see them. Arrange a proper meeting, it'll be a lot easier and quicker to get a solution than to do it via letter, plus you can show the manager the footage. It'll have to go back to the same place (probably), but ultimately if the work is completed correctly who cares? Make it a condition that the dashcam stays on at all times.
