One thing I've always hated about the Bummer is the steering wheel. The leather is rock hard, no give, and it's just too thin. A quick chat with Si at Hide n Seat and we came up with a plan and a cost that was more than acceptable to me. I wanted something subtle rather than lairy, and quality was of the utmost importance.
In the end I went from this:
To this:
Full retrim in smooth Nappa leather, black stitching all round, and a TDC line in perforated leather. Normally you'd go for a colour for that line, but in my old car it was marked out with just a pressing in the leather and I really liked it, so wanted something similar but that would stand out a fraction more.
I also asked Si to fatten the wheel up as well, and he's given me the perfect diameter to it, about 5mm more than I had which makes a huge difference. I'm absolutely delighted with it, the quality is every bit as good as I hoped for, and it's improved the feedback through the steering as well. The steering wheel is the one thing you always have contact with in the car (well, and the seat) and it's so important to get it right. Now it is, and massive thanks to Si for the quick turnaround on this too, highly recommended
