Tbh if you're thinking of tracking your car you should aim to make it as quiet as possible. Put the cats and stock back box on for the day, trackdays aren't about the very last horsepower and we as enthusiasts should make sure we don't give the NIMBYs any more ammo.

Can't see it being that hard. Plenty of room to tuck wires behind the dash once the console is out, then run it up the a-pillar trim (just tuck it inside) and then stick it in one of the corners.

AIUI, you'll need to wire a brand new aerial in and keep it separate from the existing. You can get universal splitters, but they're hit and miss at best. Best to get a completely separate one and attach it to the inside of the windscreen somewhere

Sadly not, no. I would (and have) considered buying an R34 GTT, but no matter how pretty I find the RX7 I don't want that kind of hassle looking after a car. If I did, I'd get a TVR and have the better driving experience.

I think I'd rather walk. In all seriousness, if you are considering that then PLEASE remember you will have exceptionally reduced grip all round, which means massively increased braking distances in the wet. I've run cheapies all round on an MX5 before on purpose, purely because I wanted the car to move around a lot and tbh whilst it was great for going sideways, I'd never consider it again and certainly not in a car with a good amount of torque.

I'd say anywhere from 40k onwards, but with a healthy dose of 'depends'. You have to remember that a rotary is designed to wear out and need tips replacing etc, it's the very reason why it works. Add boost to that and it accelerates wear, turn the boost up and it's even worse. A stock RX7 (if such a thing even exists any more!) is probably good for at least that. Start adding boost or tuning and you're going to be reducing that considerably. Short trips as well, much more wear on a rotary on a short trip than on a piston engine. As such, it wouldn't be unrealistic to see a rebuild being needed from just 20k, if it hadn't been looked after. If you can find an engine that's just been rebuilt, I'd buy it and run it without worrying too much as I'm guessing you're like me and don't keep your cars too long. If it hadn't been done, then I'd simply budget a couple of grand in to get it done before I put any miles on it.

I looked at them before the 911. The R8 was arguably more stylish, interior felt more racecar, and obviously a fantastic manual 'box with a dirty great V8 in it. Downsides were stupid running/repair costs over the Pork, and the total lack of usable storage space for travelling. Ultimately there's very little difference in engineering between the R8 and the Gallardo, which is both a good thing in terms of pace and dynamics but also a bad thing when you think about what a Lambo costs to keep on the road. I'd still love one one day, and a manual V8 on the regular shocks would be an absolute treat of a car to own. I'd be staying miles away from the R-tronik 'box as it's incredibly weak in that application, and the magnetic dampers are brilliant but waaaaay too much to replace. I say go for it, it's probably the most exotic junior supercar you can get at that price.
