Whilst I accept that a lot of this will be down to brand new tyres on the front (especially the understeer entering a roundabout), get used to the odd balance now you've fitted mixed tyres. This is exactly the kind of thing that I warn people about. It'll be fine 90% of the time, then it'll do something completely random (especially in changeable conditions) that'll scare the crap out of you, and leave you with zero confidence in the car.

A lot of it is also to do with the moving of the political spectrum. Centrist policies are now what would have been considered right wing in the past, which makes left wing policies look even further left than they would've done previously. Right wing is the new middle ground, which is why the Conservatives and Republicans have done well.

It's precisely the need to ensure that absolutely no-one can ever be offended by anything that is (IMHO) partially the cause of the current political backlash. Whatever happened to stick and stones? Don't get me wrong, I do realise that aggressive negative words used in conjunction with certain behaviours is clearly going to upset people, and rightfully so. I also get that, as a privileged white man, I have very little experience of anything that could be remotely upsetting in a racial or divisive way. I get that spitting the N word in a black man's face is utterly disgusting, like I get that the Ch word said in the same way to an Asian is horrendous. At the same time, I struggle to see why cowboys and Indians is offensive now, or why white women rapping on X Factor is appropriating black culture, or why only true Rastas can have dreads.

They're horrendous, it's the biggest thing owners complain about. 20mpg on a run is considered a success!

We had a conversation on here a couple of years back when I (at least, I think it was me) referred to a Chinese takeaway as 'having a chinky for dinner'. This offended one of our members (someone I also consider a friend) who has a Chinese wife, so I removed it. I've not used that term on here since, as I don't think it's necessary when I can use other terms and if it means not offending a mate, it's not exactly a hardship. That said, in the comfort of my own home when discussing meal options on a Saturday night with the wife, I will use that word. I wouldn't call it to someone's face ever, and I'd like to think I have nothing against the Chinese in general as I was once engaged to a girl from there myself (but yes, that falls into the 'I can't be racist as I have a black mate!' argument of crapness, I know), however as a word to use to describe some grub then I'm comfortable with it. I also accept that others are not. As for kids singing happy birthday in that sing-song faux-Chinese, even I find that a bit close to the edge. Maybe I'd laugh uncomfortably at it if I was there and heard it for the first time, but sat here in front of my PC it doesn't sit well with me.

You're right, it's fence not wall. I meant wall as in immovable structure, but I absolutely wasn't clear on that and you were right to call me on it. I stand by the fact it's already up where it can realistically be erected, though. May need a few extra fence posts, but I don't see what's wrong with the idea in theory. I don't believe that there's any scientific research that claims GM food affects political persuasion by ingestion only, however if there is I'm happy to be proven wrong. Would I have voted in the US Election, had I been able to? Sure, but it wouldn't have been for either main candidate. Hillary is as devious as they come, with a cavalier attitude to secure information, a bigger lust for provocation of nations than anyone this side of Kim Jon Un, and a deeply worrying view of anyone who disagrees with her. Nope, there was no right choice here, and I still maintain that we are less likely to see a large scale conflict with Trump than Clinton. That's just my opinion, of course.

The wall already exists, for the most part, where it can practically be built. Nowt wrong with immediately shipping all illegal immigrants back home either. To write a certain group of voters off as dimwitted does a huge injustice to them. Sure, some are idiots, but you get as many thickos on the left as you do the right. They know what they want from their political leaders, and it's not looking after everyone else whilst they suffer. I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with that, as certainly in the last decade or so we've (as the western world) swung towards helping those who can help themselves as much as those that can't, and a hell of a lot of people have had enough of that. Sure, as reasoned and educated human beings we should want to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and we should strive to make sure that happens. At the same time, no-one wants to be treated like a fool. And a lot of politicians either do exactly that, or they have an idea of utopia that cannot exist until we sort the basics out first.
