  1. I always thought having your car garaged helped cut insurance premiums?? Quite the opposite, there was a £100 difference between saying my Z4 and now 350Z was parked on the road and not in a locked garage. Bizarre! One thing to definitely note is that if you tell your insurer your car is garaged at your premises then you MUST put it in the garage or inform them that it may occasionally not be. Doesn't cost anymore but they need to know. This use to be annoying as i had to put the car up every night, was paranoid if something did happen the insurance company would use it as an excuse not to pay out.
  2. This is my current bedroom.... TH-50PZ70 50" Plasma,HD-DVD EP30,Onkyo 607 Amp,MSW20 Sub,Kef Centre,TDL Studio 10's,Gale 3060B Bi-Polar,Gale 20 Centre(rear),Sky+ HD,Harmony One Remote,PS3 Slim 120GB and HTPC with T240HD Monitor. Just brought my first house which has 5 bedrooms and ive got dibs on bedroom number 2 as its a perfect 4mx3m and on the top floor out the way. Everything will be going in there along with a 110" HD Projector and 3 seat recliner.

  4. Tip 1 - carpet on the wall. Tip 2 - window down to get out. Tip 3 - have someone guide you in first time then make reference points as to how far to go next time.
  5. I wouldnt go near a 106, use to have a 106 XSi and it was rubbish, sister had a 106 1.5d and apart from being one of the slowest cars ive ever driven it was rubbish. I'd also look at a Grande Punto 1.3 multijet, a little over budget but really nice cars. The 1.9 sporting was on my short list.
  6. I've had my K1 for a while now and there hasnt been any problems with it. One side does sit about 5mm lower then the other though, it sounds alot better then it did when i first fitted it. Best thing was i got it of ebay new for £180 delivered when the guy selling them use to auction them.
  7. My car was delivered around 7pm to my house, it was throwing it down with rain but i still took it out. Was surprised at how well it handle in the wet compared to my previous Z4. I collected the Z4 from a dealership and that was more nervous as i had a 120 mile return trip, sat on the motorway at 50mph for a while, it was my first expensive car and i was 24.

    My First Z

When my car was last serviced at CS the disks were worn more on the inside then outside. If they look bad from the outside they could be even worse on the other. Dont let them fit ditch finders either on the car, good rubber is all that keeps the 1.5 ton 350z on the road.
  9. With the fascia, wiring loom/steering wheel controls interface plus fitting your looking near £80-100 there. You wont be able to get the factory fit phone kit to work with an aftermarket headunit and a 6 disk cd changer is old school but if you want one expect to spend another £100+ on that.
  10. Seems a bit of a bargain to me, with warranty (manufacturers or Nissan extended) and 12 months tax. If there charging the the superguard though i'd save the money and go without.
  11. If your using an alpine headunit and the phono outputs to feed the bose amps the best thing to do first is turn off all filters and cross over freq. Sounds like the headunit isn't sending out any low freq over the front and rear channels. What headunit is it? Is it imprint ready?
  12. Yeah sounds about right, i was offered £12k for mine last weekend, its a 56 plate GT Coupe with sat nav and 13k miles. It has tax till november and was serviced in september. I owe just over £12k on finance and they were going to cover that by reducing the cost of the new car so i think it all depends on how much your spending next. They may only give you £13k for yours but you could get more of the new car.
  13. The CD changer is built into the headunit so that will have to go. For the best sound quality when using the bose speakers you cant beat an Alpine headunit with the Imprint processor. Getting the steering wheel controls is use a case of getting the right loom and patch lead.
  14. Do you have the links to the ones that have caught your eye? also what sort of budget are you working with?
  15. I was just offered 12-12.5k as thats what i owe on finance, the car we were looking at was £13.5k though so the monthly payments would be to much. It looks like i'm going to wait till ive moved in and accessed my monthly out goings before making a decision on how much i can spend a month on a new car.
  16. I was offered 12k part ex yesterday for my car against a 2009 Civic 2.2CDTi Type S GT, was tempted but i'm trying to reduce my monthly loan costs by more and the Civic was just to much.
  17. I have a single din Alpine CDA-9886R and PXA-H100 Processor, I went for quality over looks.
  18. This isnt a good idea, all your doing is starting the car up and using Power and fuel. Most modern cars will go into a sleep mode when left and i'm sure the 350Z would be fine for only 2 months. I just disconnect the earth lead from the battery when leaving the MR2 for long periods, i ended up fitting a battery cut off switch as it saved time.
  19. I'm in a similar position, we sold the girlfriends 2009 Swift Sport for the house deposit, the 350Z just isnt needed and cost money i could be saving (its on a car loan) so looking to downgrade and buy the girlfriend a Civic Type S GT 2.2 CDTi with cheaper monthly payments and running costs. I'll then be using my Mk1 MR2 Shed until we can afford to get me an Elise S2.
  20. Yes they do make a RE050A RFT, it has RFT on the side and they cost twice as much as the standard RE050. My Z4 only had 225/45 17" and they were still £150 each. You should avoid them like the plague, the RFT's are OEM fit for the Z4 and ruin the car. The side walls are just to hard, they tramline and skip all over the road and dont give you much confidence in the car. Many Z4 owners switch to cheaper non RFT's like the 452's.
  21. Welcome, with this warm then cold weather the roads are very bad, i thought something was wrong with my 350Z the other night as the back end was all over the place, was alot better once the tyres had warmed up.
  22. You must live in a really bad area as i dont even pay that much and i'm 27 with 3 years NCD, 2 claims and 3 points with my 25 year old girlfriend who also has 2 claims on the policy. Try adding a named driver.
  23. I used the loom mentioned in the sticky... viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16403 then you just need the patch lead that matches your aftermarket headunits brand, make sure the headunit you do buy has a remote control interface. on the alpines is a mini jack socket.
  24. Theres all types of cat deterrents on the market now, google it there not too expensive either.
