  1. I too came from a Celica 190 to the Z. My Z is my daily driver. Granted I live in the city and don't do much mileage each day (about 15) but on weekends I load up the truck and head off down the country or to the rc track. The only time space in the Z was an issue was when my brother came home for Christmas. I offered to take him back to the airport but his suitcase wouldn't fit in the trunk. I told him to bring a smaller case next time. My mother had to drive him. Thinking of giving up the Z this year to be replaced by one of the new ones and then onto the GTR next year depending on prices. Guy

Went for a month but stayed in some places for a few days. You know what its like. Relatives you have to visit, Vegas to play poker, West coast to get surfing lessons. Crossed the north in 5 days but still got to see most of the places we'd planned. Niagra falls, field of dreams (as in the baseball field from the movie), Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, Old Faithful and of course Montana. Intentionally drove from Yellow Stone park through Montana and Idaho to Seattle in about 12hrs. Car was limited to 115mph. With a bit of throttle control we could maintain about 113/114 so as not to trip the limiter. Montana does have speed limits now but after driving 2000miles or so from Boston I didn't really care as we could spot the cops a mile away (And had Valentine One detector which we were given when we got off the plane). 10,000 miles and not one speeding ticket. We got one parking ticket in Chicago for parking on a street that was due for cleaning on a Tuesday morning. Argued with the warden that we were from Ireland and had never come across a situation like this before. She told us to write to somebody (cant remember who). So that person got a lovely postcard explaining the situation and what we'd been told to do with a picture of Niagra Falls on the front. Mustang was from Hertz and cost between $1000 and $1200 for four weeks I think. Fuel was so cheap compared to this part of the world. Yanks complained about it where ever we went. Some days we filled the tank 3 times but didn’t care as it was really that cheap. You need at least two people to go. Splitting the cost of the car, fuel, food and accommodation 50 50. This works out great because the yanks charge for the room whereas over here you are charged per person. Cheapest place we stayed was camping in a state park just off the beach in Santa Cruz on the west coast. I’d do it again tomorrow if I could get my life in order. And the cash. Have been thinking about doing it again a lot lately except this time in a Z.

I did it in 2005. Round trip in a convertible Mustang. Boston, Chicago, Sioux Falls, Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Vegas, Flagstaff, Amarillo, Oklahoma, Springfield , St Louis, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Boston. 10,000 miles. Ready to do it again. The car was brand new. Only had delivery miles on it. Drove the @*!# out of it. Sorry about the quality of the map. Had to draw it myself as I’ve found no online service that can plot a route of that distance. Guy
  4. 100 made but reportedly many have been destroyed. Never seen one in person myself. Some day.... Funny that you posted this message today of all days. May 25th 1998 the last Mclaren F1 was completed.
  5. You know I think I'd be more interested in getting the mirrors to dip down when engaging reverse.
  6. An 30 sec attempt at a line drawing: Iideally you want something like this though:
  7. I stand corrected. True but as an importer the seller should be advertising it as imported and altered to look Euro. If it were me I would use that as a selling point as those alterations alone are not cheap.
  8. Looking at reviews on the web of the anniversary edition from the US and Australia it would appear it was available in yellow, silver and black. Had an increase in power of 15kW. Torque down by 10Nm. Black leather is fitted as standard along with electronic traction and stability control, 18 inch wheels and tyres, bigger brakes sourced from Brembo, a six-stack in-dash CD player, climate-control air-conditioning and cruise control. So basically what I’m reading into this is aside from the power increase and torque reduction the anniversary got all the options which for the most part we get as stock on the GT model. Now back on topic, if the US and AU anniversary models got cruise control then the JDM model should of as well so in conclusion I would say this model advertised is either not an anniversary or the wheel has been replaced. Does a blown airbag in a Z require a new steering wheel?
  9. JDM GT4? I thought the GT4 was a UK only release.
  10. For anyone that hasn't seen this: http://motoring.aol.co.uk/motoring-insurance/600k-ferrari-hit-by-bus/article/20070525062709990003 The Enzo owner is suing the bus company. After a quick search on the web I discovered that this was the Enzo that was on it's way to a Top Gear photoshoot in 2004. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/news/tm_headline=this-is-gonna-cost--mate----&method=full&objectid=19194581&siteid=66633-name_page.html
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong but 2007 has different exhaust which means anyone with a Nismo presently on their Z cant put it on the new Z if they get one. New model, when it comes out, will have two pipes from engine instead of one running to the tail.
  12. "Maclure Performance, specialists in New & Used cars sales of High Performance, Sports and 4X4 Vehicles. Maclure Performance has been importing vehicles direct from Japan for over 10 years and our dealers have over 35 years experience in exporting cars around the globe. Our managing director personally travels to Japan on a regular basis to hand pick our vehicles in conjunction with our agents to ensure only high quality stock is purchased." I would have doubts about any importer that was cosmetically altering cars to make them look EU. Prices are a tad bit high aren’t they???

    recalls?

The only time I've ever seen a recall letter was to the owner of a car bought new from a dealer. Sad I know. I hope the manufacturers approach the DVLA or tax office to obtain a list of owners to notify if a recall is required. What we have here is "Recalls" and "TSB's" (Technical Service Bulletins). TSB's are covered under warranty but not after it expires. If your car is not EU then you have no Nissan warranty unless you buy and import through a UK Nissan dealer. So for example you want a US car and you imported it through the manufacturers dealer in the UK then you'd get a warranty which would cover all TSB's. I've actually never understood how they can get out of that one but they do. So for example (again) if I imported one of the new Z's through an importer, i.e. it's a 2007 model, I'd have no Nissan warranty in the EU. Sucks. If I were to import the same car through a Nissan dealer I would or should have a warranty. A Recall is a public announcement to recall all cars within a specific VIN number range for safety reasons. Do a search for recalls. There have been some very big ones.
  14. You should include a robots.txt file to prevent them scanning high bandwidth directorys for example the gallery. This should reduce some of the wasted bandwidth used up by bots.
  15. Donations are a great idea. It would have to be anonymous. I'm a paid member of another site but don't log on that often. I dropped in the other day for a look see and while reading whatever thread I saw an icon below some peoples names saying "Donator". Don't get me wrong it is good to see that people are prepaired to donate to a club. It just seemed to give off the impression of a "class" system. 350z-uk.com does have bills to pay. Bandwidth, server space and so on. With what 1600 members in a great club I'm sure we'd all like to contribute something. Guy
  16. I think I've actually been driving harder just to wear out the brembo pads so I can get a set of Endless. Cant be much left now.
  17. Welcome Alex. In Ireland where I live there are no extended warrantys but if there were I'd get one as soon as my existing warranty runs out. I get it for piece of mind and it does help to have one when it comes to selling.
  18. At a guess I'd say it's because there's no air in the tube for it to react with.
  19. Last I heard the stage winner of a gumball was the one who arrived closest to the allocated time given at the start of the stage. So for example if the stage was 120miles the allocated time might be 2hrs. Only an example. Actual time would depend on the route, speed limits and expected delays. Of course this is dull for the drivers who are all in performance/supercars so it turns into a race. The organisers are to blame for that as they give out the prizes to the fastest, slowest, stupidest and so on.
  20. Found out today that it belongs to a friend of a friend here in work.
  21. I'm not allowed use sperglue any more. Was putting chrome rings on the vents of my last car and managed to stick my fingers to the dash.
  22. Video phone, youtube, tell as many people as you can to view it (and vote for it), make sure reg is visible, press gets wind of it, cops investigate. Although that's far too much effort. I'd of called the cops and tailed the muppet until they showed up. Tell them he must be really really REALLY drunk and they’d be there in no time.
  23. If I'm not mistake the disabled badge only relates to the driver. That's the way it is here in Ireland. Also, since when do disabled drivers get the right to park on double yellow lines?
