  1. Halfords kits are crap. Paints4u.com have a good match, I ordered some for my 370z and the match is spot on - not bad for a colour not yet on the database. That plus LANGKA blob eliminator does the same job as the above. Dr Color Chip is more for road rash where the paint is literally littered in small chips and you smear the paint over the area rather than touching it in. I beleive they use special thinner paint for this.
  2. A sad day indeed Dave but a long time coming. I hope now you are now happier with less responsiblity and can enjoy this place more. Remember where the Report button is if you need any to be done. Ban requests from Honorary Z Members get fast tracked
  3. If you are looking to remove swirls, you need a DA at the very least. You wont remove swirls by hand unless you are Popeye, the best you can do is hide them. You really cant go wrong with a DA. As Daryl (and his helpful link) say, start with the lowest cut (read finishing pad and non abrasive polish) and work your way up. As you learn more, you will know instinctively which pad/polish to use to get rid of swirls of differing degrees. Main thing is to start with applying glazes or other LSPs such as Dodo Lime Prime which have no or a little bit of cut, then you cant do any damage. When you are happy with how to use the DA, you can then try proper polishes and working up through pad types (finish pad, light cut pad, polish pad if required). You are removing tiny amounts of paint at any given time, its rotarys ability to quickly eat paint that is scary, but this isnt a problem with DAs.
  4. Why do people assume that rear seats add a lot of weight? In my experience, they way next to nothing in percentage terms of the whole car. The simple fact is that the Zed is made mainly of steel to save costs and where it shows is in the weight department. The 370z uses more alu, I think the doors are all alu now, but it still hasnt seemed to save much weight due to how much of the stuff they have to use for crash protection and stiffening in general.
  5. Theres a few outfits out and about in Basingstoke area - he flys for Cameron Ballons - chap by the name of Kerry. I'd imagine you bumped into the chap that runs Adventure Balloons instead. I think he lives over Hartley Witney way, I know their base is over that way. You'd certainly know Kerry if you'd met him!
  6. Depending on how much you ride, the M520 will suffice and a lot cheaper Cant go wrong with M540 either though. Have you ridden clipless before? If not make sure you wind the tension right back (instructions inc with pedals) and practice A LOT before ridding properly on them. You need to build muscle memory so your feet unclip before you even realise you need to
  7. Hey hey hey - nothing wrong with ciggy lighter expanders .... in a landrover! My mate has loads as he flys commercial hot air balloons and needs to charge loads of stuff all the time like GPS, multiple radios, laptops, cameras etc.
  8. Design and cost. As Husky says - to make something as good handling as the Zed means it has to be stiff - to be stiff and light you need to use good engineering and good materials which comes at a cost. Or you can brace the shat out of it with steel and it will be stiff, but no longer light. They have made it stiff *enough* and light *enough* for the price point, to get better you need to look at spending more money
  9. That wont do owt, either get a Megs/Dodo/Kestrel or dont bother
  10. I think that means you end up with a sh***y brown colour This can be done. Not sure we can do rainbow name colours though - might look into that
  11. Alreet girls calm it down please or it'll be temp-ban-o-clock for the lot of ya
  12. At least spell check your posts Dawg
  13. We havent lost count You're only still here on the basis that its useful to have a forum vigilante now and again to put certain members back in line And you can all stop finding examples of when Dave has had enough, we have all felt like that at times on the team, so lets give him a break please.
  14. Not dissapeared, you just have the old "forums" in the link instead of "forum" (changed when we upgraded phpBB)
  15. And what old Hitler tricks are these? Do you not remember the video John did?
  16. We're looking into it. All is in hand with the team. If it has been moved/deleted it will have been done for good reason (or perhaps finger troubles!)
  17. No worries John, we have a habbit of getting OT around here (that means all of us)
