  1. VERY wise advice Nixy and sorry to hear someone so relable and dedicated, who you have valued, has passed away at such a relatively young age. Having nearly seen out six decades out I keep stressing to my two sons and others of more tender years to do as exactly has Nixy has said - once you get on the wrong side of 50 you start realizing time is running out and regret things you have not done, but perhaps could of done if you had put the extra effort in. Moral: enjoy what you can while you can, you never know what's around the corner
  2. Can't resist giving the loud pedal a good squirt when you see the youngsters pointing to the car, to help make their day
  3. I see Nissan badge one of their cars a 'Horny' (no idea what it is ) - should have used that for the ZED

    GT-R

Are they the salesman and prospective purchaser - but which is which - I reckon the handbag carrier looks the most guilty and the other is working out his excuse when he gets back to the showroom
  5. Yeah, but which Jag was he using
  6. With you there Sats - and avoid any harsh throttle imputs until it is fully warmed up - from what I have read over the years that is the biggest killer of engine longevity.
  7. Cheers Nixy nice of you to say, your's is tasty also Sats is in the air.....

  10. Yeah, the bonnets of chavmobiles that get too close oh Sarnie, and there I was thinking you would be leaving everything standing and then you admit to the boy racers getting within reach - tut tut .
  11. - you have good taste in cars As for the car you have spooted, yes it is a UK GT car and good value IF the mileage is right. Check the service history carefuly - hopefully its got a FNSH and the bills to verify. Its got the standard Bose stereo fitted to the UK cars. and Brembos are standard on all UK supplied cars. Standard alloy wheels - all look in good condition but check for re-furb work as they almost look too good, but if the mileage is right then should be OK. Check tyre wear - might help reveal mileage (or abuse). Take a bit of time using the search button on here to check for the known issues. Get a HPI check done at the very least and if you can, ring the last the owner to verify the authenticity. The dealer might want to do a deal as the colour is not always a favourite (OK in my book and many others on here) and at this time of the year its a great time to haggle Good luck

  18. Interesting reading the differing views on here and from my own experiences it seem the French cars still have build quality issues and the Italians still make dodgy electrics - nothing seems to improve. The new Mini should be far more relaible and residuals are far better - its amazing how many people don't look at that side of ownership - the most costly aspect of car ownership - see: www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?storyId=13987 But yes, new Minis are around every corner. I've tended to buy something that is a little less known but can often see off the more well known makes - a Daihatsu Charade GTti a way back was a real hoot and as good as any of the old Mini Cooper S's, and pushed out over 100bhp from its 998cc three pot turbo charged engine. That's partly why I love the ZED so much now - still not many people out there really know what they are about - lost count how many times I have been asked what it is But getting back to something small and more up to date the latest Suzuki Swift Sport is a great drive - Tiff and others highly rate it and in the 3-door guise it doesn't look your Grandma's car - unlike the Panda 100HP as good as that apparently is to drive. Not sure what the s/h prices or insurance is likely to be but at least you should get a reliable motor that would give you a lot of fun That's my two-pennies worth

  21. ditto .........the area round my way is infested with these man made mole hills in otherwise good tarmac but the ZED deals with them as well as most other cars.
