My 55 zed with only 14000 miles on the clock has just developed a problem when changing from 1st to 2nd and 5th to 6th.If you change up normally ie straight from one gear into the next it clunks and the occasionaly grinds,but if you take a pause in neutral it is ok.My local garage which i have used for years and completely trust says that it seems to be a fault in the box as opposed to a clutch problem.Surely the synchromesh shouldn't fail at such low mileage.Has anyone else experienced the same problem?.

I agree with you Nixy it is not a colour i would have chosen.A red GTR passed me on the A64 last week and that also was a really dull shade.

Hi Nixy,the GTR you saw belongs to my daughter's boss,and he uses it for his everyday commute to work on the airfield business park.He says i can have a drive so will be taking him up on the offer very soon.

I have just had the 3 year service completed on my zed and on close inspection when returning home i noticed moisture in both headlamps that was not there before.The dealer had washed the car without my instructions and possibly used a pressure washer.Inside the bottom of the units was rainbow discolouration which suggests soap ingression.However this was caused is really unimportant but surely the units shouldn't fail like this.Have any of you experienced the same problem?.I still have a couple of weeks warranty left,and have any of you taken out a Nissan extended warranty or similar?.

After completing a 50 mile drive recentley in my 55 zed,i pulled up outside my house to let my wife out and when the door was open there was an extremely loud rattleing noise coming from under the car.I then drove the car another 50 metres or so and the noise had disapeared.Could this be the clutch release or thrust bearing?the car has only covered 10000 miles and no other clutch symptoms are apparent.Has anyone experienced the same problem?

We all seem to suffer from the same problems with our zeds,wether it be mechanical or just plain unhelpfull and unprofessional service from the dealer network.Why do we still like our cars and put up with all the crap?,can't we force change upon Nissan?.Surely we must have some clout along with the other owner groups.The clutches,driveshafts,gearboxes etc should all be built to handle the power and performance of the zed with ease.

Thanks everyone for your replies to my question,looks like i will just have to put up with the noises.Thinking about it though,the noises only started after the car had been stood and garaged for two weeks previousley it had been kept outside.Maybe any dampness has completley dried and this is the cause.

Has anyone experienced squeaks and rattles coming from the dashboard? While driving a couple of days ago i heard irritating noises coming from the dash alternating between fairly quiet squeaks and loud rattles on my 55 zed.There is no apparent reason for these noises and at times can be heard above the radio.Any ideas anyone?.

Clean them with Astonish, the fine silica paste that is used in kitchens and bathrooms.Apply it with an old tooth brush,much quicker than chrome cleaner.

My 55 zed makes the same noise,most noticeable when idling after a run.I first described it as like an aerosol can being continually discharged,but now it is more of an intermittent whirring noise and almost definitely coming from the fuel pump.Does the rev counter needle stay constant when idling or does it hunt up and down slightly,mine has that problem and i think it could be related to the fuel pump.

Stay away from Avons,they are the worst tyres i have had on any car i've owned-little grip and poor wear.I definitley wouldn't fit them on a performance car.

Battery was only 2 years old and has been replaced free of charge.The original one had an internal fault that made it unable to hold its charge,the dealer told me this was affecting the supply to the injectors causing the rough idle.

Evans Halshaw at Clifton Moor in York are pretty good and Brian Leighton Nissan in Howden are ok.Who is your current dealer,as my zed was sold new in Scarborough and i am trying to find out some previous history.

Been told today that my 55 zed needs a new battery,hopefully this will cure a problem with the engine idling rough and rev counter hunting up and down.I suppose that its a warranty item,does anyone know for sure?.

My 55 zed has only covered 8000 miles but after coming to rest after a run the rev gauge needle hunts up and down between 500 and 1000 rpm.This is accompanied by knocking noise from the engine which is occasionally quite loud.My dealer is pretty clueless although he thinks it might be a faulty camshaft position sensor and says it needs further investigation.Has anyone else had similar problems?.
