  1. Murdoch hasn't said he's got an ongoing problem with the brakes - just sounds like a water build-up that being on a hill accentuated the lack of brakes when he first came to use them. Rather like when you go through a ford - need to clear the water by dabbing the brakes for a short while so they are working a 100% again. I do get the same symptons as GIXXERUK if the cars has been left parked for a while and its rained as the pads have 'bonded' to the discs through due to the surface rust that quickly clears. Those are normal symptons irrespective of what car it is
  2. Depends what you want to spend at the end of the day - really there is little difference in engine response - I have found this out on drive-outs with other ZEDs they are all much the same on the road. And remember its not just about the engine, the 296 and 309 models were each uprated in other ways - for me personally I find the interior and the headlights and rear LEDS in another league compared to the 276 versions. Whilst uprating the rear lights is no big deal its an arm and leg job to uprate the headlghts on pre-2006 cars. Bear in mind that whilst there are a good range of engine mods for the 276 and 296 models things are bit more limited for the 309 as that was an 80% new engine and with the 370Z coming out tuning companies are not investing in upgrades for the relatively short release of the 309 engines. You may have also heard that the ECU will limit potential performance enhancing mods, without major spends to get round that. So improviing the sound and looks is the road most will go down if they want something different from stock.
  3. Its a good excuse for a spin in the ZED after washing it And besides, the discs always look so awful as they dry when everything else is nice and shiney
  4. When you go on the Eye look in a SW direction towards Epsom Downs, and just below the main stand you might spot my ZED Have a great trip and perhaps could we could meet up for a wee dram in the big L maybe? Colin
  5. Having had a 276 and now a 296 - yes your belief is right in practice - it is marginal and when you really push on the few extra revs of the 296 does give it an edge but for everyday driving I found the 276 more tractable. The one area where the better torque of the 276 really showed for me was when using the cruise (2004 UK GT model) - it was definitely more responsive when you looked for a quick increase in speed, using the button. From what I have learnt in the 3 years of ZED ownership, and Big Phil has commented on this, the best engines were the early ones
  6. Someone cleaned the screen with a diamond ring on - easily done.
  7. They get warm enough for me but just a shame it takes a little while to do so. Has anyone else noticed that if you don't sit on them they don't seem to heat up? When I have left the engine running as I scrape ice off the windows, and having switched the seat heating on, when I get in hoping to sit on a warm seat, it isn't. Guess I'll have to hang around outside in the cold longer
  8. testing, testing, can anyone see my posts or is it just Stew
  9. God I don't envy you but have to admire each and everyone who has set foot out there - bloody politicians - stay safe and and hope you get back soon to enjoy your ZED
  10. Is there a football team in Surrey? No idea and don't care
  11. Just fitted my Humax Freesat+ PVR so I I'll be giving that a try out, otherwise its next Wednesday's second showing of Top Gear No more Sky+ at £40 a month
  12. What a disappointment this thread is - thought the title was telling me it was going to be a drive out from Hull to London (Shows you what interst I have in football )
  13. Not oft Stew gets it wrong
  14. Great news Andrew - you and your family must be feeling that you can start thinking about getting off the roller-coaster ride you have been on over the last week or so
  15. This place wouldn't be the same without you Stan - always look forward to your posts and its been a pleasure to help get you up to speed in the process And you take some cracking pics as well as keeping us fed on the drive outs - roll on 2009 to meet up again
  16. Thats the general idea - damage removal . I must post up the piccy of a wheel i 'scraped' against a block of rubble at 70 mph on the middle lane of the M4 near Reading earlier this year. 5:30 in the morning. That woke me up! But if you have a look at the pic posted above by Ebized, thats the sort of damage I assume he was trying to get rid of - successfully. Correct
  17. Spoken in true upstairs/downstairs form, m'lady
  18. All I could hear was you blowing your nose (sorry to hear about your sniffles but look on the bright side you still have all your fingers )
  19. Paddy was working at the fish plant in Cork when he accidentally cut off all 10 of his fingers. He went to the emergency room at Cork Hospital. The Doctor looked at Paddy and said, "Let's be aving da fingers and I'll see what oi can do". Paddy said, "Oi haven't got da fingers". "Whadda ya mean you haven't got da fingers? Lord Tunderin Jesus, it's 2008! We's got microsurgery and all kinds of incredible techniques. I could have put dem back on and made you like new. Why didn't you bring the fingers?!?! Paddy said, "How da fock was I 'spose to pick them up!!!! PC DISCLAIMER: The situation described could have occured in any country - it simply sounds best in orish.

    Newbie Question

Having checked senility hadn't firmly set in here's what the handbook says for my 2006 model - so it seems some ZEDS (non UK supplied perhaps?) may not have the seat belt warning chime
  21. I'm sure the main reason they are picking on plates that are not the 'norm' is to make sure their mobile laser cash machines continue to earn their keep
  22. Lifted from the other thread: Hold both the open button and close button at the same time for 5 secs IIRC to change the setting Its an anti carjacking facility. For anyone not having success, Sarnie is nearly right - but the book says you push the buttons simultaneously for more than 5 seconds Just repeat the procedure if you want to go back to just the driver's door lock opening. Now it works, cheers bud Not sure if I am reading the issue right on this thread, but you don't get an 'alarm' noise just the click of the door lock working and hazard lights flashing (flash twice to unlock and once to lock) The option of opening just the drivers door or both doors together was a feature on my 04 UK ZED and the curent 56 UK ZED so not sure why some of you are having probs Might be worth trying the 5 sec+ routine if you haven't done that yet
  23. Just an excuse to post a rather nice pic ....... with the disputed plate
  24. WAs it this you were thinking of: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic ... light=rays If you are interested, pm me for Kevin's number. Colin
