  1. Hope you and your ZED enjoy your break Expect you will come back with an itchy right foot, eh
  2. And with a valet parking map on retricting the rpm it certainly does sound like there is soemthing very big under the bonnet warming up, eh Mark
  3. Reading the road well ahead (on motorways in particular) to see blockages like lorries taking 3 miles to overtake something so you can adjust your speed/lane to avoid the last minute brakers who simply tunnel vision on the car in front, certainly helps the mpg. Also makes life safer by anticipating the clowns who suddenly realise they are then slowing and want to swing out at the last moment. But its then that annoying factor when you do leave decent stopping room and idiots simply take the opportunity to jump in, often without signalling. And, then when traffic is heavy you inevitably find yourself bunching up more than you want to stop that 'jumping in' and going backwards (sic) and then causing impatience and under-cutting from behind. But the best thing I found to save fuel in the 370 on the motorway was having the UPREV - improved consumption by 2-3 mpg under the same driving conditions so that 30+ is achievable at the usual speeds, as well as delivering more power...... Before the UPREV it was a bit frustrating I could not get near 30mpg unless I kept under............(censored). Er:
  4. But no phone will work through the bluetooth if the 1234 code is not put in each phone that has identified your car, in much the same way as using wi-fi. Unless 4+ others have entered the code so that yours has got 'excluded' as the oldest
  5. Now lets get to where it matters - is the 370 is hiding in the garage
  6. Page 3 of the manual gives you a clue What did you try to do when the PHONE message came up? Remember you can only make a call out using the voice button if you have input the contacts and their numbers by voice commands. Otherwise just dial using the phone itself and you should hear the number dialling through the speakers - try it using your home phone number. Might it be an idea to print off a copy for the car................

  8. Now what was that you said on page 1 ....where it says as the first instruction: Integrated phone activation In order to use your mobile phone in your vehicle, turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position, switch your mobile phone on, open the console box lid and place the mobile phone (now the Bluetooth adapter) in the cradle. The hands-free mode is automatically activated. The phone battery charge mode is also activated. A notification screen 'PHONE' on the vehicle audio system display comes on when an incoming call is being received as well as when a call is initiated. More seriously, integrated phones were not common installations when the 350 was introduced in the UK in 2003 and it is fair the say the system is a bit tedious to get all the functions to work and even then has proved not to work with some phones or for a lot of owners in the past. You really do have to follow the manual to the letter. The 370 has brought things up to date and with the optional sat nav system with and the bluetooth makes it a breeze to beam contacts from your phone into the car's system
  9. Is that a factory colour? They did white for some of the last 313`s if i remember rightly. That seems a very good price too. Does look a very nice example - only thing I would question is whether the spec is full UK - in terms of MOT requirements? If that had come up before I bought the 370, it might well be this side of the Irish Sea now
  10. ahh......but its how you drove those 400yds Yeah, but he's got at least two pictures of you drifting it in Wales
  11. I remember reading some way back that the fold away cubbys for pre-facelift cars do not fit the facelift cars (although some have 'modified' them to fit but seemingly not too well) and after a bit of digging I found this: http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=4445 But the US forums seem to suggest you can get motorized cubbys for the facelift cars (that do not have the OEM sat nav) - but not sure if anyne over here has done that to a facelift See post 52 on this thread http://my350z.com/forum/exterior-and-in ... -is-3.html So you have not lost out Clown as the item freebits was giving away would not have fitted anyway to yours even though you don't have the OEM sat nav
  12. My engine learning experience was pre-cat days but am I right to recall it has been said that they will largely prevent oil/petrol getting pushed down the exhaust and being emitted as blue smoke? No doubt ruining the cats over time in the process. If so, that would disguise visual signs of engine damage. Best bet then is for the engine to have an endoscope check-up.
  13. This is an extract from my finding when I had the opportunity to test an auto version over a few days which included some spirited driving around some country roads: More seriously, although I got to test an auto back in 2009 with Nissan at Silverstone, where downshifts were always expected before the corners and upshifts on exiting corners when the s/wheel would be near on straight ahead, on a winding road it is a whole different ball game with press-on driving and the need to react to the unexpected. Locking it into the paddle change mode rather than letting the full auto function take over meant that in a straight line it felt decidedly quicker than GUNs But when it came to the twisties the fact the paddles do not rotate with the wheel meant quite a bit of fumbling if you use the s/wheel 'racing style', such that entry in and out of corners was a lot slower for me and with extra dabs on the brakes for confidence. Guess its fine if you are s/wheel shuffler but somehow my need to take the left hand off the wheel for the downshifts or the right hand off for the upshifts in flowing corners felt so awkward. And of course the gear ratios of the 7-speed auto are quite different and I found 2nd was so low that corners normally taken in GUNs in that gear left the auto screaming for a change to 3rd...... OK, so auto owners might say with a manual you need to take your left hand off to change gear anyway, but I found the the need to remove my right hand as well from the s/wheel just felt wrong. I know there are some performance cars out there where the auto option is set up and works as well if not better than the manual. But on the 370 the gearing, and the paddles not attached to the wheel (maybe larger paddles might work?), I'm afraid it isn't for me.
  14. Always read the smallprint
  15. OP I told you how to fix the issue on Page 1................trussssssssssssssssst me Sounds like he bought what should have been the right ones but got palmed off with duds - a lesson learnt to use tried and tested traders on here without all the hassle
  16. First thing then is to try your phone in a 350 with a bluetooth that is known to be OK. Then try that bluetooth in your car with both a phone known to work in another car and your phone and try again. That will sort out where the problem lies - either with your phone, the BT adapter or the car
  17. Could always do a test with some off-cuts vinyls to see if the sensors work covered over? Otherwise, I discovered when I had a problem with the sensors on my 350 that you could ease them out and there was a simple push connection to the wire going back to the control box. So their removal and then making 4 holes to tuck the vinyl under should work, or cut to the edge on the basis the refitting of the sensors will cover the hole cut-out. I guess you might then want to cover the sensor rings with the vinyl although a steady hand for the edge to the central part needed. But that central bit could be painted to match, rather than 4 grey - I presume they are colour coded at the moment? But as others have said, a great thread and and looking forward to the final wrap
  18. oh oh - another auto v manual thread - runs and hides As regards the longevity it will all boil down to just how brutal a driver has been, but one thing we have have come to learn about the HR engines is that are pretty bullet proof and can easily cope with well in excess of 500bhp irrespective of the fact the rev-limiter is there to help ensure reliability. I would hazard a guess that if an auto goes wrong and needs major parts it will be a lot more expensive to put right but manual is best
  19. Everything you have said above is normal - see page 3 of the manual. The reason you are getting some random number when you hit the speak button is bcause that is the last number used from list put ito the car by a previous owner, as Watshot says. If you want to dial a number from the car rather than your phone you have got to transfer the contacts one by one as it describes on pages 8 & 9 of the manual ^^^^. Can be very time consuming and frustrating getting HER on board to hear you properly. Hence why many just use the system for incoming calls, but that should not prevent you making outgoing calls by dialing from your phone and then using the car's speakers/microphone to carry on the conversation. If you are receiving incoming calls and talking through the car's hands-free then there is no reason why you can't make outgoing calls but you have to dial from the phone itself unless you do the manual transfers. The OEM sat nav allows you to see your contacts so that you should be able to beam contacts from your phone to the car via the bluetooth. My advice is to dial from the phone - hence why I had the brodit holder in the 350 for ease of access and to remain 'hands-free' . It also allowed me to see who was ringing (I didn't have the sat nav screen in my 350's) so I could decide if I wanted to accept the call of not. Peter: Have you tried making a call by using the phone to dial a number - does the PHONE message come up on the audio display? I can't recall if the LED stays red or blinks continuously when not in use. Either way, has your phone found the car when pairing and have you put in the 1234 code? If not, sounds like we need that coffee Some tips here http://www.370z-uk.net/forum/viewtopic. ... w=previous
  20. If you check out page 9 and following pages of the attached ^^^^ you will see the car memory holds 50 numbers and you do need to carefully follow the instructions about entering new names - worked OK for me with my previous two 350's - one using an old phone in the cradle (before smart phones ) and then the bluetooth adapter in the second 350. But I also used a cradle for the phone so I could dial direct from that with (couple of button pushes) to avoid fighting with Miss Pardon when she had an off-day Brodit holder with charging made for the 350's and no drilling/sticking required
  21. If you haven't got the user instructions - sounds like iyour case KyleR the car phone memory may be full from from previous owner(s) and they need deleting - see P9 etc in here: intergrated_phone_kit_manual.pdf
