  1. Just went to fix my front numberplate on the virgin front mount (wouldn't let the dealer do it - its always wonky!). I've worked out how to centre it left to right, but then the dilemma. Standard plates are taller then the mount. So do I: a) centre it vertically and have plate hanging over top and bottom, or drop it down to show top border of mount and let it dangle below (bearing in mind, above the mount is yellow and below is black)? Will look for some blue tack to take some pics ...... JohnK
  2. Just picked up my Z from the service agents complete with new, bare engine, flywheel and clutch thrust bearing. All looks tickety-boo and ship-shape(!). Thanks to all for the responses, suggestions, tips and good wishes. It helped tremendously. Now to run it in (again!)... JohnK p.s. With a new engine at 40,000 miles, has it just increased in value? :?:
  3. Happened about three times today but hasn'r recurred so cant try the remedy (IT-law!). Never mind
  4. Anyone know why, when I first go to the home screen it'll often say I've got 1 unread post, but when I click on it it says there are no posts to display. Weird......
  5. I've re-read your original post and am worried about confusion...... Does your car have a cradle in the centre armrest? If it doesn't then go to a phone specialist and see what they suggest. If it does, you dont need a new cradle. You need the Bluetooth adaptor (circa £100 but if your dealer will sell you one for £70 snap his arm off). Fitting the BT adaptor is easy (if you remember to pull out the spring release on the cradle!). Matching your phone to the BT is shown in the instruction leaflet with the cradle (and possibly in the handbook). If you have steering wheel controls, then you answer calls by pressing the button thereon - this automatically mutes the readio/cd/etc. Microphone is top of windscreen, and only right door speaker is used for calls. Hope this helps! JK
  6. Charts? What are Charts? Some new-fangled thing I bet ...... (Doesnt go back far enough for me!!)
  7. Can anyone explain why, if I add my wife as named driver my premium goes down significantly. Done this for the last couple of years - she's never driven the car in that time, so why?
  8. I had to stop my valeter(?) using his as it takes ages to dry and ends up all over the sills and wheel arches. I also hate the gloss ones - looks so artificial, but matt seems pointless. I'd really like a quick drying one with the car equivalent of a silk finish......
  9. I’d been thinking for a while that I ought to get second car and then, with Muttley off the road, I began to think more seriously. Haven’t bought anything yet, but thought if I shared my thought processes with you, you could comment, suggest or even ridicule my ideas! Budget is £10k. I’d like something with more load carrying capacity (I’m fed up with putting laser printers on the passenger seat, plus the A3 ones mean I have to borrow another car), would also like to carry larger objects to help with house sorting, and take things to the tip. Occasionally it would be nice to accommodate more than two passengers. And in adverse weather (no jokes please!) have something more capable. I’ve ruled out three-seater vans – too basic. That left medium size saloons/hatchbacks/estates or possibly the medium size 4x4s (I’m driving a Vectra at the moment and don’t was to go any larger than that). Reasonable handling, and reasonable performance would also be good. My experiences of running a factory in the South of France, and, later, having a French boss, mean I am totally prejudiced against Renault, Citroen and Peugeot (although in the latter case, if it was built in the UK I might be persuaded!). And, although I think some of them look very nice I cant see myself in a BMW – this goes back to the days when a friend had a 2002Tii and I had an Mk 1 Escort RS1600. There was nothing it for performance and handling, but the BMW price was outrageous – plus they didn’t win Rallies! Who says prejudices aren’t made in one’s formative years! I seriously considered a Mondeo Estate (if its good enough for Yoda …..) as I’d previously had a Sierra 2.8 4x4 Estate which I really enjoyed, but I’m not sure an estate is really what I need …… So now I’m looking at medium sized 4x4s and, after looking through reviews, I’m currently looking at Nissan X-Trails. The 2.5l petrol models to be specific. So, have I missed anything obvious? Or, am I letting my prejudices blind me? Cheers JK
  10. The 296bhp became standard in the MY06 which is distinuishable by different interior and front and rear light clusters (although some earlier cars have had the light clusters fitted retrospectively by their owners). MY06 centre console does not have the heated seats switches in the elbow position!
  11. My later one didn't - just a water consumption problem!
  12. Latest news is that dealer has written authority from insurance company to proceed. Bare engine should arrive from holland tomorrow and they hope to have car back to me late next week. Work is now being done in Reading due to franchise change delays! Muttley's coming home!
  13. I drive mine in the wet (when I have it!). Does no-one else then?
  14. Two questions: Date of first registration? Limited Edition No:?

  16. Well you didn't have Yellow Colour on the list so I had to vote for something else!
  17. Hi Nixy. What does / did it say on the numberplates?
  18. Guess I'm out of this one guys. Sorry. Car looks doubtful by that date ...... JK
  19. Called in at the new premises this morning without saying who I was. It does look like they are branding up for dealership launch, plus salesman says their service department has always been Nissan approved with all technicians Nissan trained, so I'm feeling a bit better - but I'm still asking for a written assurance from them. JK p.s. Do have a different dealer backup, and, much as I trust them, its the hassle of having car uplifted for a 100 miles and dealing with them remotely which is holding me back..
  20. Car - Too many pennies Me - Not enough pennies - would have to work far too much!
